"Let's go for a walk, Zoey." The retriever came bounding.

"Let's go for a ride, Zoey." She came bounding.

"I'll be right back, Zoey." The retriever whimpered and stayed.

"Stay, Zoey." She stayed.

The broken door.

The house alarm.

The barking.

The blood.

The cops.

The tears.

The guilt.
