Chapter 18: Reunited
(Normal pov)
"Oh! Send one to Lady Aurora of Northumbria!"
Elsa chuckled lightly at her sisters child like excitement while Elsa herself was writing wedding invitations to their closest friends in all the English kingdoms, Elsa herself had announced her and Anna's engagement to Lord Haddock and everyone was shocked, surprised and happy. But surprising to the Queen of Arendelle, most of the citizens were happy that both sisters were able to marry a man that loved both of them.
Anna was pacing around in Elsa's chambers while she was wrapped in a crimson wine silk curtain and she just moved in such a erotic way that it even distracted Elsa, she shook her head and continued to write invitations. Anna's strawberry blond hair wasn't in her usual double braids, instead her hair flowed down to her waist as she continued moving around wrapping herself around with the fine silk, her eyes widened and she snapped her fingers. "What about Punzie? Did you send an invitation to her?" Anna asked excitedly, Elsa giggled and nodded. "She was the first one I wrote to and I've sent my fastest horse rider to dispatch my message to Punzie at Corona." The Queen of Arendelle confirmed, Anna shrieked excitedly and then flopped on Elsa's bed and splayed herself out on the bed while sighing happily.
"How fortunate are we to share a man who loves both of us, for who we were." Anna said, Elsa hummed in agreement and held her palm out, frost began forming and Anna watched as her older sister was playing with her powers. "You know for so long... I had feared no man would ever love me because of my powers." Elsa confessed, she then turned to Anna and smiled. "That is until Hiccup and Toothless came along. He never judged me, called me a sorceress or witch, instead... he accepted my powers because they were apart of me."
Anna smiled at that and hummed. "And for me, the boys our age always thought that I was too... child like. But Hiccup convinced me otherwise. He's helped me to mature over the years and not be too naive, and I can't thank him enough for that." Anna said with happiness, Elsa than smirked and teased. "You already did thank him... with your body." Anna gasped and then hurled a pillow at Elsa, causing the young queen to shriek and the two burst out laughing.
Suddenly, a knock interrupted the sisters laughter, Elsa regained herself and cleared her throat before turning toward the door. "Enter!" She said, the door opened to reveal Irwin and Kai, the two bowed their heads and Irwin spoke first. "My Queen. Lady Anna. Apologies for the interruption, but we have... a guest in the plaza that demands your immediate attention." Elsa and Anna shared a worried look before Anna asked out. "Is it heathen?" Kai turned to Anna and pursed his lips before answering the princess. "Yes. But this one is riding a dragon."
(Ten minutes later)
The people of Arendelle had never laid eyes on such a dragon before, it was massive, twice the size of the Night Fury they had gotten so used to seeing, this dragon had four wings, its face had two long spines that branch off its nose and to the side with a "smashed" face that resembles an owl. The dragons colors were woody brown, a cream like underbelly and iridescent blue highlights. The dragons head cocked to the side as it saw some children hiding behind their parents in fear, not knowing entirely if this dragon was friendly or not. And what shocked Arendelle's people even more was that this dragon had a rider.
The rider had the same woody brown leather armor as the dragon did, there was teal blue splashed around the riders torso, the riders helm was a strange one, there were two small tusks in the front and long spikes sticking out in all directions on the scalp, the rider had a shield strapped to their back and a long staff was in their hands with jagged spikes coming off of it and rattlers of some kind embedded with the weapon.
"Queen Elsa and Princess Anna of Arendelle!!"
Upon hearing the royal sisters arriving, everyone bowed to their rulers, when Elsa and Anna laid eyes on the dragon and its rider, Elsa commanded Irwin to fetch Hiccup immediately, the commander of Elsa's bodyguard bowed his head and raced off to find Hiccup. Anna looked at the rider from head to toe and then looked into the riders face, which was concealed by their mask. The princess whispered into Elsa's ear. "Do you think Hiccup had any idea who this... person belongs to?" Elsa turned to her sister and shrugged. "Hopefully we'll find out."
"Lord Hiccup Haddock!!"
At the mentioning of Hiccup, the rider then gasped, everyone turned to the rider, when Hiccup and Toothless finally arrived at stood by Elsa and Anna, the rider dropped their staff and tore their helmet off to reveal a beautiful woman with long auburn hair kept in three separate braids behind her back and has pale skin, and blue eyes.
"H-Hiccup? Is it really you?" The woman asked in a hopeful tone, Hiccup cocked his head to the side in confusion and asked out. "Who are you?" The woman looked away for a moment and swallowed thickly before looking Hiccup directly into the eyes. "I was once the Queen of the Hairy Hooligans, husband of Stoick the Vast and... the mother of my one and only child. Hiccup Horrdenous Haddock III. You."
Everyone gasped in shock and turned to Hiccup, the boy himself gasped and looked as if he'd faint, but Toothless leaned his head close so his friend wouldn't fall, Hiccup grasped his dragons head for stability and stammered out. "Y-you're my... mother?!!" The woman nodded in confirmation. "My name is Valka Haddock." She said, Hiccup shook his head in disbelief and expecting her son to flee, Valka was shocked to feel her son embrace her tightly and sob out. "My mother." Valka too sobbed out and embraced her son with all her might and whispered out. "My son."
Elsa and Anna smiled at the sight, though they were shocked just as much as everybody else, Hiccup had revealed to them both that his mother was "killed" by dragons, and yet here, the woman was in the flesh, with the same dragon that supposedly "killed her."
When mother and son separated from their embrace, Valka traced her sons scar on his chin and smiled while shaking her head. "Odin's beard Hiccup, how you've grown!" She said, causing Hiccup chuckle and nod, the boy then gestured Toothless over. "Mom, this is Toothless. Possibly the last known Night Fury." Valka gasped at the sight of the Night Fury and stroked the dragons chin delicately. "Oh, he's beautiful." She purred, causing Toothless to growl contently as the dragon woman starched his chin, Valka then noticed Hiccup bring both Elsa and Anna over toward her.
"Mom, this is Queen Elsa and her sister Princess Anna. They are to be my wives." He said, causing Valka to look at him with surprise and shock at the mention of them to be both his wives. The woman sighed sadly and looked at her son. "You've grown so much in just eighteen years. And where was I?" She said before continuing. "Instead of returning back to Berk and raise you amongst my tribe of dragon riders, I let you... suffer. I can't imagine how difficult the fifteen years without me were son." She said with genuine regret, Hiccup sighed and whispered to Elsa, the queen nodded and turned to the people and spoke out. "You are all dismissed, carry on." The people bowed their heads and continued their routines, jobs and duties.
Elsa then approached Valka and smiled at her in greeting. "Lady Valka. Perhaps you would like to rest within our palace? There we can talk more." She encouraged, Valka nodded to Elsa in thanks and the dragon woman turned to Cloudjumper and ordered her dragon to stay outside, Hiccup too told Toothless to stay outside and he suggested to show Cloudjumper the spots where he hunts, Toothless nodded and urged the Stormcutter to follow, soon, the two dragons shot to the heavens and disappeared beyond the trading kingdoms walls.
Upon entering the palace, Elsa ordered servants to gather dresses and night gowns for Valka and to prepare a bedroom for her, the servants bowed their heads and rushed to their duties. Valka meanwhile was taking in every detail inside the palace, she was Viking royalty in the past, but she never knew what Saxon royalty looked like, and it certainly put Viking royalty to the test.
Valka cleared her throat and spoke out to Elsa. "Queen Elsa, if I may ask, are you willing to accept my tribe within your kingdom? We are not only dragon riders, but warriors, scouts, spies and infiltrators. We can blend into Viking and Dane ranks without them even noticing us until it is far too late." Elsa turned to Valka and considered her words, the young Queen of Arendelle nodded and spoke. "You may. If you are willing to renounce your heathen gods and pledge your oaths and swords to me." Valka stopped and looked at her son, Hiccup nodded at Valka. "I have renounced Odin mother. I have renounced my past life and have now embraced the Saxon way of life."
Valka absorbed her sons words. He has rejected the Viking gods and their way of life. I suppose it wouldn't surprise her, she had heard how much of a 'disappointment' and 'pathetic excuse of a Viking heir' Hiccup was to her husband. But then Valka couldn't judge her son because she herself as well as her tribe of dragon riders have all spat on the Viking way by bonding with dragons of their won. She would not return to the old Viking ways, instead she would stand by her son and embrace the Saxon way of life, Valka then took a knee and bowed her head to Elsa.
"Queen Elsa of Arendelle, I, Valka Haddock, Queen of the Ryttere tribe renounce my faith in Odin and all other Viking gods. And I pledge my allegiance to you and your kingdom."
The Queen of Arendelle placed her hands on Valka's shoulders, when the older woman looked into the young girls eyes, Valka could see a smile of approval on Elsa's face and in her voice. "Then you are welcomed among us Valka. When you are able, return to your people, have them brought here as well as your dragons, they will all be welcomed once they have renounced their old ways." Valka bowed her head in thanks and rose, Anna then asked out. "Are you hungry Valka?"
The Queen of the Ryttere turned to Anna and smiled warmly at her. "I suppose I could eat. Thank you Princess Anna." She said with gratitude, Anna then turned to the nearest servant and ordered the servant to go to the kitchens and have the cooks prepare them a meal, the servant bowed their head and rushed off to the cook. Hiccup then approached Elsa and Anna and spoke softy to them both. "Why don't you two keep writing wedding invitations, I wish to spend time with my mother." He said, both Elsa and Anna nodded in understanding, they both kissed his cheeks and headed off.
Hiccup turned to Valka and led her to his chambers, upon arrival, Hiccup showed his mother around, as Valka looked around her sons room, she could see very detailed sketches, blueprints and other designs. The woman then laid eyes on something that brought a smile to her lips, she reached for it and clutched it in her hands, she then showed it to Hiccup, when he looked to see what it was, he saw that it was the stuffed Deadly Nadder she made for him a lifetime ago.
"You kept it?" She asked with disbelief in her voice, Hiccup scoffed at his mothers tone and nodded. "Of course I kept it mother. It... it was all I had left to remember you by." He said with a slightly saddened tone, causing Valka's face to drop slightly and guilt resurfaced inside her. "F-Forgive me. I had no right to question your reasons for keeping it." She said, Hiccup gently gripped her arms and shook his head. "it doesn't matter now. What matters is that you're here now." Hiccup pulled his mother into a warm hug and he sighed out. "I missed you so much Mom." Valka returned his warm embrace and closed her eyes. "And I missed you my beautiful Hiccup. It killed me to stay away from you, but...
"Shhh." Hiccup shushed his mothers words and held her tighter and nuzzled into her neck, while Valka stopped talking and just held her son. She had prayed for this moment for so long and now that she was actually holding her son? It was almost too good to be true. But when Hiccup pulled away from her embrace and gently stroked her arm, she knew that this was real. Her baby boy was a man now, he survived the torment and reject that his former people and allies threw at him and soon? He would be married off to Queen Elsa and Princess Anna.
"Sit Mom. I want to... get to know you." Hiccup offered, Valka dared not refuse her sons wish, so when they sat on the bed, Hiccup licked his lips before looking into her eyes and asked. "Start from the beginning, when you were taken." He said, Valka nodded, looked into her sons eyes and spoke. "After Cloudjumper took me, he didn't take me to Helheim's Gate, in fact Cloudjumper served the great Bewilderbeast..." Seeing the confusion on Hiccup's face, Valka clarified. "A Bewilderbeast is the King of Dragons. Though that title is earned through sacrifice, compassion and combat. These giants are as large as mountains, though they are fierce in combat, they are as gentle as a hatchling." Valka chuckled lightly, she then added. "We have one among our ranks. I will ensure that our Bewilderbeast remained within the harbor of Arendelle or build a new nest close enough to Arendelle."
Hiccup nodded in understanding, he then urged his mother to continue her story, as hours passed by, Valka had told Hiccup that she and Cloudjumper rescued ensnared and enslaved dragons from Dragon Hunters and Trappers, they even recruited exiled Vikings into their ranks to build the Ryttere tribe and within the eighteen years, their tribe has flourished and they are about nine hundred strong. And they have many dragons amongst their ranks, all of which are friendly to humans and serve the Bewilderbeast that protects them from those who seek to do them harm.
"Wow. You accomplished all of this... in eighteen years?" Hiccup asked, Valka chuckled lightly and nodded. "Believe me Hiccup, it wasn't as easy as it sounded, trying to get people to change their minds about dragons, showing them they aren't mindless beasts and forming bonds with them? It all took... time, patience, blood, sweat and tears. But in the end? It was worth all the effort we put in to see our tribe prosper alongside dragons."
Before Hiccup could speak, a knock was heard at the door. "Enter!" Hiccup said, a servant opened the door and bowed to Hiccup and announced. "Lord Hiccup, the cooks have finished preparing a meal for you, your mother, Queen Elsa and Princess Anna." Hiccup nodded in thanks and waved the servant away, when the servant left, Hiccup got up and held a hand for his mother, when she took it, Hiccup gently squeezed his mothers hand and nodded at her. "I'm really glad you're here Mom." Valka smiled at her son and kissed his forehead before replying back to his words. "And here I'll stay my boy."
(Ten minutes later)
Before dining with the royals, Valka stripped out of her armor until she was in her long sleeve yellow tunic, her leather pants and leather boots, she followed her son to the dining hall to see Elsa and Anna waiting for them with a very delicious looking meal which consisted of smoked chicken, potatoes, corn and other delicious foods. Hiccup sat beside Elsa and across from Anna, and Valka sat beside her son, Elsa then turned to Hiccup and smiled. "Hiccup, would you say grace?" Hiccup smiled and nodded, the three then closed eyes and Hiccup said a prayer. "Lord, thank you for reuniting me with my mother. I pray that you would nourish our bodies with the food before us and I also pray for strength in the days to come. Help us to prepare for the Bloodhair tribe, we fight for your name Lord and we fight for England itself. Help us I ask again Lord, in your name I pray, amen."
"Amen."
"Amen."
Both Elsa and Anna said, Valka watched as her son gave the Saxon prayer and was curious about it, she'd have to ask Hiccup more about it later, for now she was focussed on the food in front of her and would satisfy her hunger. Elsa turned to Valka and asked. "So, Valka, how many people and dragons are there in your tribe?" Valka turned to the young queen and answered. "There are nine hundred people and over three thousand dragons Queen Elsa." Anna gasped at that, she took a sip of water from her cup and raised her eyebrows. "Three thousand dragons?! That is a great many of the magnificent animals!" Valka turned to Anna and smiled at her while tasing an eyebrow. "You do not fear dragons Princess Anna?" She asked, Anna shrugged and confessed. "In truth? I did not believe they existed, we had heard stories about them, fairy tales to put us to sleep as children. But when Hiccup and Toothless came? I realized that dragons are amazing creatures."
"As have I." Elsa added, she then turned to Hiccup and smirked at him. "Which reminds me, you still haven't taken me out for my first ride Hiccup." She said while pouting, Hiccup snorted in amusement and swallowed a bite of chicken. "You're always so busy Milady, we haven't had the time to go out on a ride. But I promise, when you aren't as busy, I'll take for a ride." Hiccup said, Elsa nodded in acknowledgment and grinned. "I'm holding you to that." She said in a teasing manner, Anna turned to Elsa and smiled. "Believe me Elsa, you'll love it! Feeling the clouds, you don't even feel the cold or the winds, you just feel..."
"Free."
The trio turned to Valka, she was smiling at Anna and repeated. "You feel free. Believe me lass, its a feeling you'll never forget or never get tired of." Valka said in a dreamy tone, causing Hiccup to smile and nod. "You should try flying on a Night Fury mother, I swear, Toothless gets faster everyday and there are times I nearly lose my grip on the saddle." Hiccup says with a light chuckle, causing Valka to smile in understanding. "Aye, dragons live to fly son, and Night Furies speeds are unknown to Vikings. Do you keep track of his speeds?" She asks curiously, Hiccup hums in confirmation as he chews a mouthful of chicken, potato and corn, when he swallows, he points back toward the dining hall doors. "In my room, I have my own Book of Dragons, and I've documented everything I have on Toothless and I am still updating the book almost daily."
Valka nods as she chews on some chicken, she then turns to Elsa. "I heard the mentioning of Bloodhair tribe when my son was praying. What is the size of their forces?" She asked, Elsa took a drink of water and looked at Valka. "They have a fleet of three hundred ships and my scouts have reported that they have almost five thousand warriors." She said grimly, Valka hummed in confirmation and shook her head. "Those Vikings are very dangerous. I do hope your warriors are prepared for such an army." Valka said, Elsa turned to Hiccup and smiled. "I have Hiccup and Toothless among my army and we have God by our side. Those vile heathens will soon meet their ends with the ends of Saxons swords." Elsa said firmly, Valka sighed and spoke gently. "I hope you're right Queen Elsa."
(Elsewhere)
Hallbjorn and Eskil were preparing plans for where they would strike, their warriors were getting more impatient by the day, but the brothers reminded their warriors that good things happen to people who wait. So, the brothers decided that they would take London, Kingdom of Mercia, it was large enough to hold their forces and their fleet, also, the brothers had received word that both the Hysteric and Murderous tribes have been raiding through Merica, the brothers had sent their fastest riders to send messages to the two tribes chieftains asking them for assistance in sacking London to hold all three tribes forces and resources.
The brothers tent flap opened to reveal their riders, Hallbjron approached the two riders and shrugged. "Well?" The riders nodded at Hallbjron and spoke. "Madguts the Murderous and Nobert the Nutjob have agreed to aid our attack on London." The news was sweet to Hallbjorns ears, he laughed out loud and patted Eskil's back. "We have two more armies to help us brother." He said excitedly, Eskil smirked and nodded. "I heard brother, and it is news I savor." Before anyone else could speak, another Bloodhair warrior entered the tent and bowed their head to the two chieftains. "Lords Hallbjorn and Eskil. A Saxon has arrived to see you. He says you two know him."
The brothers shared a look and looked back to their warrior. "Bring the Christian in." Eskil demanded, the warrior nodded and left the tent, seconds later, the Saxon the warrior spoke of entered the tent, he was draped in a black cloak and when he removed his cloak, it revealed the figure to be Prince Hans of the Southern Isles. Both Hallbjorn and Eskil grinned at the sight of the man and nodded to him in greeting. "Hans. Good to see you again! I do trust you have news for us?" Hallbjorn asked, Hans nodded and spoke. "I have nine hundred men to assist in the defense of Arendelle, while you sack London, I shall play along as the... "respectful" ally to Queen Elsa and Princess Anna. But when you return? We shall sack Arendelle together."
Eskil snorted in amusement and raised an eyebrow. "Remind us again, why would you turn on your fellow Christians? Whats in it for you?" He asked curiously, Hans closed his eyes and sighed heavily, suddenly, in his right hand, a whip of fire formed and he struck down the nearest warrior, the whip cut the Viking clean in half, the brothers faces were etched in shock and awe, Hans still held the hellfire whip in his hand and he grinned wickedly at the two brothers. "I seek power. For so long, my father and my twelve brothers have thought me to be weak, but they never knew I had powers. The power to wield fire." Hans said while holding his left hand out and a orb of flame danced around, the Prince of the Southern Isles added. "So... I shall take Arendelle from Elsa and her child of a sister and prove to my people at the Southern Isles that I am far from weak. And in return for your assistance, I will pay you ten thousand pieces of silver."
At the mentioning of silver, the brothers turned to each other and smirked before turning back to Hans, the Prince of the Southern Isles raised an eyebrow at the two brothers. "Do we have a deal?" He asked, Hallbjorn and Eskil Bloodhair chuckled menacingly and nodded. "Yes Prince Hans. We have a deal."
A/N: Surprise!! Didn't see that coming did you?
