AL Rising War 1

Welcome to the land of Emanotahwonktnodi, where guilds of human wizards go around helping people out, and taking out evil that lurks the great land. Well, in a way not really, before I start, the name's Jackson. Anyways, I joined the guild of Accelerated Leviathan about a year ago, being the newest one for a while apparently. I heard the reputation of this guild was great, one of the best in the area, and great members. And boy my first few months there working side-by-side with the others were great, everyone pretty much being one big family, including the guildmaster himself. Everyone helping each other out, so my first few months working (going on quests or some jobs) were easy.

Anyways, with the summary of my beginnings here, the land of Emanotahwontnodi, holding many great human guilds and wizards in it. Though the "Wizard" part is a bit incorrect and correct at the same time. There are two groups of wizards: Minor and Major wizards. Both having different varieties of magic in them, Minors having the most amount, and Majors having two. Minors, have a vast amount of magic to learn from, like infinite ammo for ranged weapons, making weapons appear, having a temporarily power boost to the body, and it goes on and on, small and simple things that can be taught to all. Learned from books that have been written, or taught by another. Able to learn many if you have the time (and enough power to cast a whole bunch), but require some inanimate object to cast some magic if it isn't making a weapon appear, or infinitely refill ammo. Now for Majors, the two types, Singular and Immense. Singular being able to use more powerful Magic, but only being 'gifted' one type of magic, Elemental Magic being the more common in this tier and some unique ones like Telepathy, but they are still eligible to learn the considered lower tiers of magic to support themselves. Singles are a bit more common, gaining it at birth, though no one knows exactly why, but just happens. And require no inanimate object to cast their magic, also having some sort of immunity if it is an Elemental Magic. The Immense being the more rare, from what I can tell, about the probability of 1/1000000. Immense being the best, able to use multiple amounts of magical abilities on a much bigger scale, due to an abnormal amount of extra energy to cast them. A few that I know of from legends and books, they can have abilities such as Long Range Teleportation (Minors can learn this but very, very, short distances), Dragon Magic, or just simply a much stronger ability that Singulars are born with. Hell, I even heard of that you can have wings. No one really knows how to be an Immense other than being born on some special day, like a solar eclipse.

For me, I'm a Singular, my magical power having an affiliation to Fire, and learned some Archery magic when I was younger. In reality, I joined Accelerated Leviathan since my hometown of Lacmia, a simple village with more normal people, only me and my father having magical powers. It wasn't until some wizards and normal people started to invade my home town, me having very little training from my father, who was a retired wizard from Accelerated Leviathan, a Singular like me. Also affiliated to Fire, with some Sword magic skills, he fought like a madman, with the normal soldiers of the village, who instantly got wiped, my father fighting to the end, giving my mother and me escape to the city of Nomia, where Accelerated Leviathan lies. For the few weeks being there, we worked hard for the little home we had, until someone from the guild recognized me as being my father's son. Taking me in, improving on my Fire Magic, and eventually joining the guild to pay for the rent, but mom said she was moving to her family, and that I should stay here and be happy for having a family like this, and since I'll be more protected here than with her. Lucky enough, the guild has living quarters in them for the members that have no home to be in, so living on my own isn't a problem.

Everything was going quite well, until just a month ago, when some mysterious girl looking around my age (which is 16), wearing an ember red shirt with a black jacket, and long black pants, her hair up to her waist looking as if it hasn't been groomed in a while, burst through the doors, and asking for the guildmaster, whom we all call Tom (not entirely sure if that is his real name, but I go with it). And soon enough, Taylor joined the guild, and given the tattoo of the guild to signify where she works for, a light blue colored Leviathan with wings tattooed onto her right arm. For the first week, no one really talked to her, since if she wasn't gone to work on a quest or job, she would sit in one of the corners of the quite big first floor of the guild, with a big rectangular window next to the tables in that area. Usually reading (with glasses)or just staring out the window, or gazing into a ball of flames she creates from her hand. Whenever someone came close, they couldn't even reach her, literally, she would create some wall of embers that is impassable, due to the few that tried to approach her, got very burned by the embers. Even though I have an immunity to fire, it still burns whenever I tried to get near. Tom wouldn't tell us what kind of wizard she was for some reason, so the rest of us concluded she was a Singular, with Fire, another one besides me.

So it continued on normally, until the big door to enter the guild, opens, the person in the doorway, a criminal that is wanted in the area, a big smile on his face. As soon as everyone sees him it was a near carnage of rage and "GET HIM!" since he had a bounty of 1,000 gold (not a lot, but still, the guild likes to bring justice to those kinds of people). It would've been a fun small event (since the guild can get very wild at times), but Taylor got in the way, in a near instant manner, moving from her usual spot (which is at the opposite end of where the door is) at such a quick speed, shielding the criminal from the attacks. Once everything settled down, no one was hurt, other than small burns here and there. Until the guildmaster came down, and yelled for everyone to stop, though everyone did stop earlier, since it was Taylor, and everyone did fear her.

"That child there, is one of us, so do treat him as we all do to each other," his voice booms through the guild.

And that is how Adam came apart of the guild. To be honest, for the next few days, he wasn't all that bad, and actually gave information on how he knows Taylor, both being twins. In reality, the only reason he stole and did all the things in the past, was to keep Taylor and himself alive, since their home, their village were destroyed, being the only survivors. Adam, between the two was the more social one, telling that Taylor didn't really trust anyone since she was the one to lead the people who destroyed their home there. Otherwise, the two were Immense class wizards, a huge shocker, to most, but a good cheer given, since the guild never had any Immense. And the guild was popular before in the area, but with those two, we may become on of the best in Emanotahwonktnodi, since the much bigger guilds had at least four or more in theirs. What also surprised most of us is that every Immense knows how to use an Elemental Magic, being their main use of magic, Taylor having Fire, and Adam with Darkness (more powerful within the shadows normally, but with him being an Immense, he doesn't require shadows, but create it.)

Nearly soon after, some of the desserts that is given after dinner, the best ones that are given, like the carrot cake, cheesecake, nearly all the specially cooked sweets that are unique to the guild only. Taken mysteriously, the last one every time, and in appear in front of Taylor. Pissing off some, and expected Adam to do it, and a little after, admitted it to comfort Taylor. And so up to this day, the twins would sit across each other, playing chess sometimes, reading a book, or simply something else, but mainly Taylor reading a book while Adam usually socializes. The only light being floating balls of fire, since that area is very dimly lit besides the moonlit or sunlit skies. Everyday they would go on quests, the more challenging ones that normally took more than ten of the others here to do, increasing the popularity of our guild.

For me, my magical powers still somewhat same, my Fire Magic mediocre, and my Archery Magic improving, thanks to one of the other members, Leo. Quests and jobs aren't really my thing due to my mediocre powers, so I would tag along with others if they need any help. Though the only thing the money is for if given, is to buy more supplies for later quests and jobs.

"Jackson, mind coming to my office?" Tom calls me, looking down from the third floor, since the middle of the guild has an opening to the third floor.

"Uhh, sure Tom," I yell back, starting my accent to his office.

Entering his office, he walks to his desk and takes a seat, Taylor and Adam sitting in two chairs in front of him, and an empty seat next to Taylor. Taylor taking a glance at me, and a wave from Adam, which I reply back with a wave.

"Take a seat, Jackson."

"Sure, Tom," this is a bit weird, since I am nothing special, and always behaving in the guild, wonder what Tom wants from me...

"Can you tell us quickly, guildmaster? We would like to start on this quest, it's nearly a day's travel there," Taylor addresses, a bit of impatience in her voice.

"Yes, yes, all I simply ask of you is to take Jackson with you, and teach him how to use Fire Magic," Tom answers, gesturing a hand to me.

"Guildmaster, must we? Can't Adam stay here and teach him, he is eligible to use Fire as well,"

"I'm fine with whatever," Adam adds in.

"Yes, do take him he could use some help on learning it, since you are the only here in this guild that is an expert in using Fire. And please, do call me Tom, we're all family here."

Sighing, I watch as Taylor nods, and starts to walk out the door.

"We'll be taking him, Tom. So, how much have you practiced with Fire, Jackson?" Adam smiles.

"Thank you, and tell Taylor that nobody here would steal it, and she is freely able to wear it."

"Well, it's not worrying about it being stolen, but the fact that it'll bring more attention," Adam shrugs.

"What does she worry about, Adam?" I curiously ask.

"I'll tell you when we catch up with Taylor, knowing her, she'll already be outside, and past the guild's garden. Oh, and don't forget your quest supplies, and possibly extra clothing if you can."

Man, Adam was a bit right and not at the same time, when we got out, she was already past the small stream, a bit aways from the outermost part of the guild's garden. Hands in her jacket's pocket, taking no notice of us when we caught up with her. And catching up to her, I noticed something golden around her neck, and instantly realize what it is.

"Woah, is that one of the rare Necklaces of the Ancient Dwarves? The ones that give even mo-" I instantly get tackled, followed by something feeling really hot.

Landing on the ground, I notice that it is Adam that tackled me. Getting up, I notice Taylor continues to walk down the road, as if nothing happened.

"Yeah, don't do that man," Adam stands up, brushing off dirt off his shirt and pants.

"What attacked us?"

"It was her, she just doesn't like anyone taking much notice of her necklace," Adam answers, giving a hand to help me up.

"So do you have one too? And how did you get it?" I eagerly ask.

"Yes, I do too," he pulls it out of his shirt a half circle that is colored black as the night sky in the center, and a gold colored material around it, "and it was a gift given to us by our parents."

"Do you two have anything else more special than that then?"

"Not really, well not that important to anyone else that is. Just a few books teaching how to use other Immense level magic powers. Of course since we can keep learning more. And that is pretty much it."

"Really? Didn't know Immense had books they can learn from. Umm... just curious you think you two can start teaching me?"

"We are," Taylor roughly says, looking back at us, waiting.

"And how is attacking me helping? Unless you're training me on how to dodge Fire Magic," I sarcastically reply.

"I can do that if you want," she lights her right hand into flames.

"I rather not..."

"Then trust us that we are training you on how to use Fire Magic," she finishes, and starts walking on ahead.

So we continued on, still no clue on what quest they took, just walking through the plains and forests that came along. And the occasional random stops, where I would do some task for them, like swimming through a freezing river nearly naked, or just climbing a tree while I get pelted by pebbles, and pretty much anything that started to make me very, very angry.

"About noon right now, and you're still standing, nice work," Adam congratulates me, handing a sandwich, and apparently, both know how to use Storage Magic, where you would create this portal of some sorts, and simply store items in it.

"You think you can hide me in your Storage Magic?"

Laughing, "No, we actually tried it once with a rodent, and let's just say... that it didn't go well."

"Oh..."

"Hey Taylor, mind having a little sparring? We've been walking since morning."

"Sure," she calmly answers, standing up and walking a little distance from where we rest.

"Just a note, Jackson, do try to keep focus on her and not me. Ready sis?"

"Yes," she instantly starts an attack of multiple amount of fireballs, fires in a horizontal 90 degree arc.

While Adam stands still, as if unaware of the incoming attack. When the attack reaches him, I hear a blast of fire coming the my left, where Taylor stands. Looking over, I see that Adam is attacking her with shadowed hands and arms. How the hell did he do that? With Taylor blocking each attack with her own fire ignited hands and arms. Until having her back to a tree, she continues to block each strike, before she raises one of her free hands while blocking an attack. A gust of wind soon after, sending Adam flying a bit aways from her.

With him on the ground, Taylor charges up an attack, blasting flames to him. Recovering from the blast of wind, Adam shields himself with his arms, covering his head. Once the flames die down, Taylor stands in front in Adam, and punches him in the stomach. And from the sound of him groaning very loudly.

"What was that for sis?" Adam groans.

In a very childish, and girlish voice (like one of those voices of dolls from horror movies - implying that out there since I feel like those are not the correct choice of words), "You ate my desserts for a few days last week, and the the beginning of this week."

"Really? After I got you the desserts the entire time we were there?" Adam continues to groan, curled up.

"Wait, how were you able to stand the magic attacks, and not the punch?" I skeptically ask.

"Well for one, I finally got her to open up a little," Adam addresses, and receives a light kick from Taylor.

"Hey, I was studying, and I can't stand being bother while reading, plus spreading lies about me," Taylor interjects.

"Anyways, both of us know a simple magic, well to us anyways, that gives a minor boost of a shield. Like how every person that knows how to use magic have their own amount of resistance to other magic attacks. We just amp it up a little more," he finishes, getting up but still hugging his stomach.

"Wait so our bodies are the source of our magic powers and shield us from other spells?"

"Yeah, it's a basic thing that everyone knows, weren't you taught by someone how it works?" Taylor asks, a hint of curiosity in her voice.

"W-well, I was being taught by my father, but some group of evil wizards and people attacked my village, and came when I was being trained... so I really don't know. Plus I was a little too shy to ask anyone back at the guild about it."

"Uh-huh, well you can borrow one of our books, the one that teach you about the basic necessities," Adam smiles, standing up.

"Oh, umm... thanks."

"Well, since you are fine now, Adam, let's start mov-" Taylor starts before being tackled by something gray, making me quickly summon out my bow, "Oh get off me Logan, get off of me!" she giggles.

Lowering down my bow, I see a wolf, on top of Taylor licking her face. And then getting off of her and starts to nuzzle Adam's legs.

"Nice to see you again, Logan, now where is Willow?"

Logan answers by looking behind us, and came another gray furred wolf with a white streak of fur from its top of the tail, and all the way to its right eye, walking towards Taylor and lowers its head into her lap.

"So you two own wolves?"

"In a way, so the guild does allow companions, right?"Adam kneels down, scratching Logan's head.

"Yeah, as long as they belong to someone and is well trained."

"Good, since these two roam around the area until we have a quest or job to do. You can pet them too, though you are pretty much the only one right now that knows about these two."

Taking the offer, I start walking to Logan, who sat, wagging his tail happily as I neared him. Lowering my hand to pet his head, he starts to sniff it, and then licking it.

"So where did you find these two?" I question, as I continue to pet Logan.

"Well, these two have been with us since we were young. Helped us escape from the group that attacked our village. Logan always with me, so he's the more energetic one, while Willow is a bit more like Taylor, quiet but can be fearsome."

"I'm not quiet Adam, I'm the one that usually studies and gain information, why I know how to use more magic than you do," she calls out, slowly petting Willow's head, "Besides, let's get moving again it's nearly evening."

"You two haven't even told me where we are going, or even what the job is. Hell, even teach me how to use Fire Magic."

"We have been, and if you must know, to very close friends' graves," she replies, a very annoyed tone in her voice.

"S-sorry," I stutter, a little sadden myself since it reminds me of my father... even though his body was never found.

Continuing to walk to wherever the grave lies, everyone stays quiet and calm, besides Logan who roams ahead, or just simply ran circles around us.

"We're here, and when we return and anyone asks, tell them that we went and delivered something to someone," Taylor states, standing in front of a cliff side, nothing there.

"But th-" I start, before she blasts a fireball to one part of the wall, and then sounds of metallic gears and clicking sounds.

After it all stops, a small entrance way, as tall as I am, appears right in front of Taylor.

"Try not to touch anything," she proclaims, entering the entrance, followed by Willow, then Adam and Logan. Leaving me standing outside, then deciding to follow them in.

Inside, it is dark, but that is before Taylor casts Fire Magic, and blasts it around, lighting torches here and there. Until the room is entirely lit, and I see it is in a spherical shape, two unusual part of rock in the middle. And on the walls were paintings of many things, of animals, elves, dwarves, pretty much all the species that live in this world, and some other paintings, in which I cannot identify as.

Turning my gaze to the center now, where Taylor and Adam, alongside with their companions, sit down on their knees, placing some food in front of the two stone coffins. Walking closer, I notice where the name of the dead is supposed to be, some sort of unique written letters are there. Curious to get a better look, I slowly walk closer, trying to not get the attention of the two, right before the ground lowers where my right leg touches the ground.

Panicking now, the place where I stepped on continues to lower, and followed by a loud clank and more gears turning. Crap, crap crap!

"Y-you found it... Adam stay here keep an eye in him," Taylor happily exclaims, running to the newly opened doorway, Willow following her.

"So... I didn't activate a trap or anything? Ruin this place?" I nervously mutter.

"Not at all you actually found our parent's hidden room they used to store their treasures they found. Before our father sent us away and about to be attacked, he was telling us how to get in here, but only how to get in here, and not the secret passage."

"So you know what is in it? And why are your friends here, in these coffins... no offense."

"Well, our parents stayed to let us escape, and these two were with us, they decided to buy us time when our hunters were chasing us... and this is the best we can do, bury them where our parents were supposed to be buried in. Both of us are still not sure if our parents are even alive or not. Anyways," he quickly states, clearly trying to change the subject, " I'm not exactly sure, but probably lots of books and loot. Well based on what they told us as kids when they left to adventure with some guild, time to time even though they retired and stayed with us mostly."

"You know what guild they joined?"

"Not really, didn't even see a symbol or insignia of it either, add that to us being kids and not knowing what is what of the outside world."

"So you know who attacked your village, or just don't know either? You don't have to tell if you don't want to."

"Well, from what I remember I do remember seeing some other species from other lands, cooperating with humans attacking our village. Which is a bit unusual since all species stay out of each other's ways, besides with the simple stuff, like trading or spreading news, of course," he sighs.

"So, how far is the place you two used to live?"

"Quite a ways, don't know why my parents wanted their graves all the way out here though," he shrugs, "And gee Taylor is taking a while, unless it's like a dragon's lair down there," he mutters the last part.

"Just curious, have you two been anywhere great before, like a dragon's lair?"

"Not really, just traveling around, the land in hopes to find a good place to be safe in. Though our parents always told us stories about that kind of stuff."

"How are your parents not well known, I mean based on your description, I don't know a duo that are that great."

"Well, not sure myself, to be honest. They did tend to live a bit of a secret life, probably since the two of were born."

"Adam! Come over here and help me with this!" Taylor's voice echoes from the corridor that opened.

"You don't mind staying here yourself right? Well, besides Logan, he can stay with you."

"Yeah, I'll be fine."

"Great, we'll be out soon, depending if it's one of those giant, ancient, very overpowered statue weapon or something like that. Or if Taylor can't even lift a single object in there. Don't tell her I said that," he smiles and winks, then runs off to help his sister.

Sitting there, looking around the unique and rather realistic paintings, is just a bizarre look, and Logan seemed to be mesmerized in them as I am too. Until the sounds of thuds on the rock floor echoing into the room brought my attention to the corridor. What brings my attention the most, is that they only hold two weapons, Taylor holding a bow, well from what it looks like since of it's very peculiar looks, looking like a normal one, a skull where the arrow presumably shoots from even though no hole in the back to put an arrow into, sharp blades on both nocks, a bit more thicker than normal, and seems to be encrusted in very peculiar gems. While as Adam has a sheathed sword, the sheath barely touching the ground, even though Adam is quite tall, the sheath encrusted with seemingly the same kinds of gems. And then with Willow having some kind of armor plating on her head, and covering her back, another set being held by Adam.

"Ummm, I may be missing something, but are those weapons rare by a chance?"

"We should just make you read a "How to Know What is Rare or Not 101" book," Taylor sneers at me.

"Yes, they are, there is no official name for these two, but most like to call them 'Weapons of the Ruins' since no one really knows where they came from."

"Wait, how sure are you? I know what they are, and heard rumors on what they can do..."

"I'm sure they are, haven't you ever been to the guild's library at all?" Taylor sighs.

"Wait, there is a library at the guild...."

"Yes, on the third floor, across the Guildmaster's office. Though I never saw anyone in there ever since I arrived."

"Oh... I was told that the room had some curse on it, or something like that..."

"How gullible are you? Then again, in a way it was, I guess 'cursed' since I found one of the other guild members there, one of the shy ones that rarely comes down, and found the library to be somewhat of a nice place for her. Then scaring the other's away since many were very intimidating to her. Plus, if it was cursed, then the Guildmaster would have done something about it ages ago."

"Right, and at a curiousity, you think I can use that bow for myself? Or are you going to use it?" I ask, in a near minute voice.

"No, since I can use a bow and arrow myself, it's my parent's, and also requires some magic in order to work. You know what, when we go back to the guild, I'll get you the books so you can know all this stuff. Maybe even help you learn a thing or two on how to actually cast your magic." she finishes, starting to walk out the place.

"She does have point man," Adam gives me a light, friendly punch to the shoulder.

"Yeah, I guess, yet I still didn't learn anything from her today."

"You would've, but either she didn't push you hard enough, or you are very strong willed. Since one way of practicing if you just start is the get someone very pissed off, then get used to actually doing it without being angry. If that makes sense to you."

"In a way, though didn't you say you too know Fire Magic?"

"I did say that, doesn't mean I can cast it as well as Taylor can. Since I learned other stuff since she can use Fire Magic, so it is a bit pointless." Adam starts to walk to the exit, with me behind him.

Once outside, it's night, Taylor waits for us to come out, and then casts a fireball to another section of the cliff, leaving no burn marks, and the entrance closes up. I also take notice that small embers flying around us, giving light for us to see.

"Jackson! There you are, we gotta hurry!" I hear a familiar voice yell.

"Filch? What are you doing out here?" I see him running to us, as the embers seem to fly to him. Filch is one of the best hunters in the guild, able to track near untraceable tracks and all that, very speedy since of learning some kind of speed magic, but only for a limited time, and always wearing some sort of camo clothing.

"We gotta hurry... t-the... " he pants heavily, his skin quite pale.

"Take a breath man, can't be that serious."

"The guild is under attack!" he quickly yells, grabbing my shoulders, then closes his eyes, and starts to fall to the ground.

Lucky enough, Adam reacted fast enough, caught him, and gently lowered him down. Then touching Filch's forehead.

"He used too much magic, nearly to the point where it can kill if he went a little longer."

"He'll be fine, right?" I nervously ask.

"Yeah, just need an excessive amount of rest, though if the guild is under attack, we better move."

"And exactly how? It's nearly a day's worth of travel to get there!"

"You're owing me double the desserts for the next few days, Adam, and make sure to take him to the infirmary if it's still there. Then come out and help," Taylor addresses, putting the bow wrapped around her, and putting on a bracer onto her left arm, also encrusted in gems.

"Alright, you sure you'll be fine though, to fight I mean?"

"Not like I'm taking us all the way to Uncle Augustus's home. Jackson, just hold onto Adam."

"Umm... okay." I grab Adam's open hand.

"You don't get motion sickness, right?" Adam queries.

"Not really, w-," is all I say, before a bright white light flashes around us.
