Chapter 5 of 28. Stop The Clowning, Cello, Clefs!

Ah, the Clef Circus, the epitome of entertainment in the orchestra town. With its clowns, performers, and all, it was a spectacle to behold. Yet, unexpected guests had arrived: Kate Ellsworth and Kaitlyn Zoerhoff, the tuba player and the percussionist, the youngest members of the band clan. They embarked on this mission with a desire for something extraordinary.

Nervously, Kate glanced at Kaitlyn. "This circus gives me the creeps!" Together, they ventured into the backroom, where they stumbled upon Mrs. Stretch's prized possession: Jack in the Box. This clown led the parade of the circus and was deemed invaluable. "We've found it! And Mrs. G doubted us!" Kate exclaimed triumphantly. Kaitlyn chuckled, "Looks like G will have to reconsider!"

Their laughter was short-lived as they accidentally triggered a horn, startling Kate into Kaitlyn's arms, causing them to stumble and crash into a closet of costumes. After a moment of panic, they reassured each other, "Phew!"

Suddenly, there was banging on the dressing room door. Kate trembled, "W-What was that?!" Determined not to find out, she urged, "Let's just grab Mrs. Stretch and go!" Kaitlyn agreed, "And make a swift exit!"

Sneaking out with the stolen box, they were intercepted by another clown, Mrs. Weepy, Mrs. Stretch's devoted partner. "They took my girlfriend!" she wailed, chasing after the band duo. Almost out of the circus town, they were on the verge of being caught when they stumbled upon a warp zone, evading Mrs. Weepy's pursuit.

Safe for the moment, Kaitlyn opened the box and noticed something peculiar. "Hey, Kate, doesn't this clown seem familiar to you?"

Back in the actual town, Kamari lay sound asleep while the rest gathered around. With a sleepy yawn, she woke up to the chatter. Mr. Jingles, visibly relieved, remarked, "It's such a relief to unwind after such a wild adventure!" Kamari, still groggy, replied, "Yeah, I've been so exhausted, nothing could get me out of this bed!"

Suddenly, a small marionette doll darted into the room. "There's a creepy clown on the loose at the Clef Circus!" Kamari jolted awake. "We need to get that clown back to the tent before it scares the daylights out of everyone!"

Back in Clef Circus Town, the jugglers dashed frantically, pursued by the deranged clown. Their escape attempt ended abruptly as they collided with a tightrope, leaving one of them entangled momentarily. Meanwhile, the clown's cries echoed, "Where's my girlfriend?!"

Rushing to the scene, the quartet had to take cover as the clown hurled metal balls in their direction, wreaking havoc upon the tent. Marina exclaimed amidst the chaos, "That clown certainly knows how to make an entrance!" Haru concurred, "We need to tread carefully!" Kamari, ever confident, chuckled, "Don't worry, I'll handle this!" However, her bravado was short-lived as a barrage of magic props was flung her way, hindering her movements. "Just let me get rid of this cursed set!" she grumbled.

Seizing the opportunity, Kate and Kaitlyn slipped away unnoticed while Kamari struggled to free herself from the debris. Meanwhile, Mr. Jingles pondered aloud, "I wonder why the clown is so distraught." Their attention was drawn back to the fleeing band twins clutching the box. Mr. Jingles had an epiphany, "It must be something to do with that box those troublesome twins are absconding with!" Determined, he formulated a plan, "We must apprehend that clown! Haru, Marina, follow me! Kamari, stall the clown until we return!"

Agreeing to the task, Kamari called out to the agitated clown, "Excuse me, miss clown! Can we talk?" Mrs. Weepy turned abruptly, mistaking Kamari for Mrs. Stretch. "Ah, my darling harlequin! I've finally found you!" Bewildered, Kamari mused, "Her little harlequin? What's she on about?" As the clown advanced, eager for a hug, Kamari recoiled, realizing the danger. "A hug from her might be detrimental to my well-being! I better dash!" With a burst of speed, she darted through the circus, attempting a daring leap to escape, only to land unceremoniously in the clown's embrace. "Not quite the exit I had in mind!" she grumbled, struggling against the clown's grasp. "Haru! Mr. Jingles! Help!"

As the group pursued the band kids through the winding streets of the circus, Marina's voice rang out, "Give it up, band kids! Your escape ends here!" However, as they crested a hill, they were met with a horrifying sight: Mrs. G's doomship looming above them. The band kids taunted them as they were whisked up onto the deck, where a smirking Mrs. G awaited. She chuckled, "Even my youngest band members can outwit you string-playing dummies!" The ship soared overhead, leaving Marina to yell defiantly at the sky, "I dare you to come up here and say that!"

As Kamari struggled against the clown's embrace, Haru spotted them and gasped, "Oh no! Kamari's been captured by the weeping clown!" Mrs. Weepy, holding Kamari close, smiled tenderly, "I'll take you back to our circus, my love, and I'll never let anyone take you away again!" Kamari shuddered at the prospect.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jingles, Haru, and Marina wandered through the labyrinthine streets of the circus. Haru's voice was heavy with concern, "Poor Kamari, she's been ensnared by the circus, and we may never locate her!" Mr. Jingles nodded in agreement, "If only we had a map of this sprawling circus!" Marina's face lit up with sudden realization, "If it's a map you need, I have a cousin who can assist!" Turning back to her companions, she exclaimed, "What do you say?"

They stumbled upon Sadie Manika, renowned as the finest map maker in all of Orchestra Town. With a confident smirk, she boasted, "I have maps to the circus, maps to the hidden recesses of the clowns' domain, maps to the abodes of the Orchestra Stars! You name it, and I've got it!" Mr. Jingles eagerly produced some Rentenmark, stating, "I'll take a map to the backrooms of the clowns, please!" Amused, Sadie chuckled, "A wise choice, your loyal clown boy~!" With a mischievous grin, she tucked the moneu into her hat.

Mr. Jingles examined the map with a gasp, then his expression turned serious. "Look!" Haru grumbled skeptically, "Hey, this map is fake! It has a picture of Kamari on it!" Mr. Jingles shook his head, "No! Don't you see? The head clown resembles Kamari!" Marina's eyes widened in understanding, "Yeah! I see now! That's why the deranged clown abducted her!"

A determined glint appeared in Mr. Jingles' eyes. "The only way we're going to rescue Kamari is by infiltrating Castle Guerzon, apprehending the head clown, and trading them for Kamari!"

In the circus tent, Mrs. Weepy continued to coddle the mistaken Kamari, cooing, "Aww, give your little Weepy a big kiss~!" Kamari protested, "Clown! If you weren't so blinded by tears, you'd see I'm not your little Stretch!" Mrs. Weepy sighed, "All that running around has tired you out! It's time for a nice, long two-week nap!" She brandished some clown makeup as Kamari attempted to flee, exclaiming, "I enjoy naps, but not that long!" Nevertheless, Mrs. Weepy cornered her, applying clown makeup to her face before finally trapping her in the box. "You'll feel better after your nap," she reassured Kamari, who trembled, muttering, "Somehow I doubt it..."

Meanwhile, at Castle Guerzon, trumpet players stood guard as Haru soared above with his Super String's angel wings. Mr. Jingles commended him, "Haru, that steam cloud was a stroke of genius!" Marina agreed, "Nothing can halt Maestro Haru!" But their optimism was short-lived as they encountered a tornado composed of musical notes. "Except perhaps that Orchestra Town TWISTER!" Haru exclaimed. Caught in its powerful winds, their travel balloon spun uncontrollably, ultimately crashing and leaving Haru mourning its loss. However, their luck took another turn for the worse when they were discovered by Mrs. G's flute guards.

With no time to waste, Mr. Jingles urged, "Quickly, into the tower! There might be another way out!" Inside, they stumbled upon the real head clown's Jack in the Box. Mr. Jingles pondered their predicament until Haru had an epiphany, fashioning a makeshift wagon from stands. Proudly presenting his creation, he declared, "Behold, my own steam-powered clown sled!" Marina quipped, "Compared to what?"

Meanwhile, Mrs. Guerzon, Kate, and Kaitlyn were informed of the intruders' whereabouts. Eager to handle the situation personally, Mrs. G led the way, confident in her abilities. As they reached the tower, she bellowed, "Mr. Jingles, you're trapped! Surrender now!" And with that, chaos erupted.

The sled careened down the stairs, sending everyone into a panic as they fled in fear. Miraculously, they managed to evade the guards' pursuit, narrowly dodging the sled's path. However, the guards quickly regrouped, only to be knocked down like bowling pins by Haru's powered-up wings. Seizing the opportunity, the group made a hasty escape from the castle.

Back at the circus tent, Mrs. Weepy had dozed off beside the box, allowing Kamari to awaken. "I can't sleep for two weeks straight! I'll get hungry!" she remarked, attempting to quietly exit the box. Just as she succeeded, Mrs. Weepy stirred. Haru's joyous shout filled the air, "Kamari, you're safe!" He enveloped her in a tight hug, prompting Kamari to protest, "Ack! Lighten up, Haru! I've had more hugs today than I can handle!" Mr. Jingles retrieved a face wipe to remove the makeup, questioning Kamari about the crying clown's whereabouts. Kamari replied, "I left her in the box! There's no way she can get to us from there!" However, their relief was short-lived as Mrs. Weepy emerged from the wreckage, glaring angrily. "What are you doing with my girlfriend?!" she demanded. Mr. Jingles attempted to clarify, "You've made a mistake, Mrs. Weepy! This is our friend Kamari! Your real girlfriend is over there!" Gesturing to the box, he tried to reason with her. But Mrs. Weepy, unfazed, seized Kamari's shoulders with a menacing smile. "You imposter! How dare you pretend to be my girlfriend! You look nothing like her!" Then, she turned her attention to Haru, with a chilling grin. "But you look exactly like my brother. Come to me, my friend!" Haru laughed nervously, "Excuse me, but I need to find that map saleswoman and buy a map to somewhere else!" With that, he sprinted away, with the group and Mrs. Weepy in hot pursuit, Haru screaming all the way.
