Chapter 3 of 28. Reign Storm

As they strolled past a warp pipe, Mr. Jingles, Haru, and Kamari, Mr. Jingles appeared visibly concerned. "I really shouldn't be leaving, Kamari. The town needs me," he fretted. Kamari, clutching a suitcase, chimed in, "Doctor's orders, Jingles. You're always overworked." Haru nodded in agreement. "Absolutely, overdue for a break." Standing by Haru, Kamari assured, "Haru and I can manage the kingdom while you're away." Reluctantly, Mr. Jingles attempted to justify his stay, "Well, alright then." Just then, Marina dashed past in her vibrant swimsuit, exclaiming, "Let's hit the islands! Hawaii, here we come! Let's party!" Mr. Jingles interjected, trying to temper her enthusiasm, "Marina, we're just going for a few days." He sighed, considering calling off the trip altogether. Kamari facepalmed lightly and sighed, "Tumbling treble clefs! You're going, and that's final!" Mr. Jingles turned to Haru and Kamari, earnestly requesting, "Promise me you'll look after the town, should any trouble arise." But before he could hear their response, he tumbled down the pipe. Kamari smirked, "Trouble? Not with us in charge! How difficult could running a town be, anyway?"

Unbeknownst to them, Mrs. Guerzon and one of her students overheard the conversation. "Very difficult indeed, you little fiddle-playing oddball. With the Jester absent, the Band Kids will have their way, wreaking havoc and causing mayhem!" But her thoughts were abruptly interrupted by Serena, the clarinetist of the band, calling out to her. "Hey, Mrs. G! My twisted mind just concocted a BRILLIANT PLAN!" She chuckled gleefully, her laughter punctuating nearly every sentence. Mrs. Guerzon turned, intrigued. "As long as it's wicked and malevolent." Serena continued with excitement. "Even better! What if I design a robotic version of Mr. Jingles to seize control of the town while the real Mr. Jingles is away!" Mrs. Guerzon smirked approvingly. "An excellent notion, Serena! I'm thrilled I came up with it." Mrs. Guerzon emitted an evil laugh, leaving Serena puzzled yet intrigued.

In Hawaii, Marina persistently urged Mr. Jingles to unwind. "Relax, Jingles! Soak up some sun and sea! We're in paradise!" Jingles sighed, still preoccupied with thoughts of his town. Marina flashed a reassuring smile. "Kamari and Haru have it under control." With a playful shout, she darted towards the beach. "Last one in is a rotten Band Kid!" With a swift motion, she mounted her surfboard, riding a wave. "Come on, Jingles! This is amazing!" Mr. Jingles gazed at the majestic ocean, recalling the doctor's advice to unwind. Removing his sunglasses, he dashed towards the water. Before he knew it, he was surfing! The Sailor and the Jester reveled in the thrill of the moment. Marina exclaimed, "Check this out, Jingles!" Attempting a flip, she lost her balance, causing a collision. Marina found herself tangled in seaweed, struggling to break free, while a fellow surfer helped Mr. Jingles to his feet. "You okay? That was quite a wipeout!" Jingles chuckled nervously, assuring he was fine. The surfer, introducing himself as Jack, suggested, "Looks like you could use some pointers." Pointing towards Marina, he asked, "Are you looking after that blonde girl over there?" Shaking his head, Jack insisted, "Not really." Grabbing Jingles' hand, he exclaimed, "Well, let's catch some waves then! Time's a-wasting!" With a bewildered Marina in tow, they raced towards the ocean. "What does he mean, 'blonde'?! Oh well, maybe this distraction will ease his worries about the town."

Back in Orchestra Town, Kamari took the lead in delivering a speech. "As your temporary rulers," she began, only to be interrupted by Haru seamlessly continuing, "We take immense pride in dedicating this new dam." Kamari shot him a disapproving glance. "Hey, Haru, this is my speech." Haru met her gaze. "Then convey to them that their village will remain safeguarded from flooding." Meanwhile, unbeknownst to them, Mrs. Guerzon lurked beneath the water, poised to detonate the dam. "This will certainly elevate the status of those orchestra kids," she mused with a malevolent laugh before swimming away to safety. The explosion rocked the area just as Kamari attempted to resume her speech. "As I was saying—" Her words were drowned out by the rupturing dam, water cascading in all directions.

As another batch of complaint letters arrived at their doorstep, the townspeople's anger reached a boiling point. Kamari perused the letters, grimacing. "Stairway to Harpland keeps collapsing, sending folks into garbage dumps," she read aloud. Haru's expression darkened as he scanned another letter. "The new orchestra shopping mall is plagued by haunting Thereminas." He shook his head in dismay. "There's more trouble in Orchestra Town than we can handle, Kamari. We need to summon Mr. Jingles back." But Kamari gently reminded him, "Mr. Jingles needs his rest. Remember what the doctor said." Haru sighed in resignation. "Let's face it, we're orchestra players, not jesters."

Outside, the enraged townsfolk clamored at their door, demanding accountability. Kamari's fear drove her to hastily grab paper and pen. "I need to send a warpogram message to Mr. Jingles, urgently!" she exclaimed. Haru handed her an envelope. "Here, I've already written it." Kamari rushed out as the crowd swelled. She attempted to send the letter through the warp pipe, but a guard intercepted it, tearing it to shreds.

Meanwhile, a Band Kid hurried to Mrs. Guerzon to report the intercepted message. "The warpogram message to Mr. Jingles has been intercepted, Mrs. G!" Mrs. Guerzon pushed them aside, a wicked smirk curling her lips. "My plan is unfolding perfectly! When will the Robot Mr. Jingles be ready?" Serena, engrossed in her work on the computer, replied, "Hold your violas, Mrs. Guerzon! Programming takes time." Mrs. Guerzon growled impatiently. "I NEED THE ROBOT MR. JINGLES NOW, SERENA! OR YOU'LL FAIL MY CLASS!" Just as she spoke, Serena completed the robot. "The robot is ready for mischief, Mrs. G!" she announced gleefully. "No one in Orchestra Town will suspect a thing, and the real Mr. Jingles will remain undetected in the real world!" With an evil laugh, she concluded her declaration.

In Hawaii, Mr. Jingles was experiencing pure joy, indulging in various activities like swimming, paragliding, water skiing, and his newfound favorite, surfing! He and Jack were forging a deep bond as they spent more time together, with Mr. Jingles improving his surfing skills under Jack's guidance. They even ventured into hang gliding as a shared hobby. As they soared through the air, Jack exclaimed, "Isn't this amazing?! Up here, you can truly escape from it all!" Mr. Jingles sighed contentedly, confessing, "I'm not sure if I ever want to go home."

Back in Orchestra Town, it was time to activate the robot. Serena turned the key, and it sprang to life, ready to greet Kamari and Haru. "Kamari, Haru, I'm back," it greeted in Mr. Jingles' voice. Kamari and Haru emerged, visibly relieved. "And just in time, Jingles!" Haru remarked before inquiring, "Where's Marina?" The robot Jingles smirked wickedly. "She's enjoying such a great time. I let her stay another week!" Kamari beamed at the faux Mr. Jingles. "The whole town is eager for your return!" The robot's smile turned icy. "And I can't wait to start reigning again." With that, it strode into the house, with Kamari and Haru trailing behind.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Guerzon watched with glee. "Those naive fiddle enthusiasts fell for our robot!" She giggled with malice. "It won't be long before Orchestra Town is under my control!" Her laughter echoed with sinister intent.

As Mrs. Guerzon and Serena schemed further, Mrs. Guerzon outlined, "While our robot Mr. Jingles allows me to seize control of Orchestra Town—"

But Serena erupted in anger, her face flushing red. "My sole task was to ensure the real Mr. Jingles remains in Hawaii! You've reminded me six times! Stop being so bossy, Mrs. G!"

Mrs. Guerzon sighed, then handed Serena a lei. "Here, put on your Hawaiian disguise! Now you can blend in with all the other tourists!" With a wave, Mrs. Guerzon bid farewell, "A hui hou, Serena!"

Returning the gesture, Serena replied, "A hui hou, Mrs. G!" With determination, she leaped into the warp pipe, ready to execute their plan.

Kamari and Haru stood in the field, stunned by the sight before them. Haru couldn't bear to look directly. "It's dreadful, Kamari. Ach du lieber Gott, I can't bear to witness it again." He gestured towards the field. "Mr. Jingles ordered the new highway to be constructed right next to a quicksand pit." His gaze shifted to the horizon. "And they've decreed the destruction of every piece of sheet music!" Kamari furrowed her brow in concern. "I've never seen Mr. Jingles act so peculiarly." Haru turned to her. "Perhaps he simply needed a lengthier vacation!" Kamari nodded in agreement. "Maybe it's time for us to have a traditional Violin to Victorian heart-to-heart."

Kamari and Haru trudged back to the house, preparing themselves for the crucial conversation ahead. However, as they approached, they were greeted by an absolutely dreadful sight!

Haru and Kamari gasped in disbelief as they witnessed the unexpected scene. Mr. Jingles and Mrs. Guerzon were embracing, with Mr. Jingles wearing a warm smile. "Welcome, Mrs. Guerzon. I'm so glad you could come!" Mrs. Guerzon forced a fake smile in response to the robot's greeting. "Good afternoon, Mr. Jingles. It's delightful of you to invite me for tea!" Kamari was dumbfounded. "Tea?! With Mrs. Guerzon?! Mr. Jingles, how could you be so cordial to Pauline Guerzon?" Mr. Jingles maintained his innocent demeanor. "Why shouldn't I be nice to her? After all, I'm turning my town over to her." Haru went pale. "You're what?!" Mr. Jingles's smile twisted into a more sinister expression. "And you two are fired! You have exactly one hour to get out of Mrs. Guerzon's orchestral town!" Mrs. Guerzon gave an evil smirk. "Make it 15 minutes, fiddle freaks." She roughly pushed them away from the house, leaving Kamari rubbing her sore arm. "Hey, Haru? Do you feel like Mr. Jingles isn't quite himself lately?" Haru nodded solemnly. "Yeah, I wonder what's happened to the Mr. Jingles we know and love."

Back in Hawaii, Mr. Jingles continued to ride the waves, his laughter echoing along the shore. As he hopped off his surfboard onto the beach, Jack beamed at him. "You're getting so good, you could enter next week's surf competition!" Mr. Jingles pondered for a moment before exclaiming, "Well, why not?! Come on, I'll let Marina know we're extending our stay for a couple more weeks!"

Meanwhile, Marina lounged in her beach chair when a curious child approached, pointing at her boat-shaped hat. "Mommy, why does that girl have a boat on her head?" Marina rolled her eyes and dismissed the child with a nonchalant, "Eat pineapple, kid." But the child's attention quickly shifted. "And why is that other girl sneaking through those bushes?" Marina's eyes widened in realization. "That's no popstar, that's Serena J. Fisher!" Mr. Jingles, now beside Marina, paled at the mention of Serena. "What?! Serena?!" Marina's concern deepened. "If Serena is here alone, the rest of the Band Kids must be up to something! Why didn't Kamari and Haru inform us?!" Mr. Jingles sighed, realizing his duty. "I need to get back home! My people may need me!" Jack, confused by the sudden turn of events, interjected, "Subjects? Jester? Orchestra Town? Can someone please explain what's going on?!"

Mr. Jingles hugged Jack warmly, expressing gratitude. "Oh, Jack, thank you for the most wonderful time of my life! I hope I can make you feel as welcome in my world as you've made me feel in yours." Marina chimed in, patting Jack's back. "But for now, mate, can you keep all of this a secret?" Jack nodded fervently. "Of course! I wouldn't dare share this with anyone!"

Back at Orchestra Town, a crowd gathered around Mr. Jingles' castle for the crowning ceremony. "The Orchestra Town is about to crown a new ruler," announced the robot, reaching for the crown. "It is with great pleasure that I turn the crown of Orchestra Town over to the magnificent, no, make that magnificent, the magnificent, PAULINE GUERZON!" Mrs. Guerzon interjected, modifying the robot's speech. All the Band Kids erupted in laughter and applause, while others watched with concern. Then, Kamari noticed something peculiar. "Tell me, Haru, if Mr. Jingles had a vacation in Hawaii, why doesn't he have a suntan?"

As the robot was about to crown Mrs. Guerzon, Marina and Mr. Jingles burst out of the warp pipe. Mr. Jingles had devised a plan, with Marina ready to activate the water pump to breach the castle walls. "Hurry, Marina!" she urged. Marina pulled the pump just as the robot removed their crown. "I hereby name you, ruler of all the Orchestra Town," the robot announced to Mrs. Guerzon. Suddenly, CRASH! The castle wall shattered under the force of the water jet. It was time for a showdown between jesters!

Mr. Jingles swiftly rode by on his surfboard, seizing Marina's harpoon to reclaim his crown. With a deft launch, he aimed and succeeded—the crown was back where it belonged, adorning his head once more. Feeling whole again, he continued surfing as the water surged, sweeping away Ava, Rusty, and Carine, leaving them washed up on the shore.

Meanwhile, the robot short-circuited from the sudden splash, while Mrs. Guerzon scrambled for cover behind her throne. The pressure from the water launched Serena out of the real world, culminating in a crash landing into her own invention.

Serena rushed to Mrs. Guerzon, breathless with urgency. "Mrs. Guerzon! I came to warn you! The real Mr. Jingles is coming back!" Mrs. Guerzon sighed in exasperation. "You're a little late, Serena." She firmly grasped Serena's arm. "The idea of the Robot Jingles was all your foolish notion! If I weren't such a forgiving teacher, I'd never have allowed you to attempt it!" The band kids trailed behind them, curious and anxious.

Marina beamed with delight. "Fantastic surfing, Jingles!" Kamari chuckled in agreement. "Marina's spot on! Your Hawaiian getaway really paid off!" Haru nodded enthusiastically. "Absolutely! Now it's Evil Guerzon who'll need a vacation!" The group enveloped Mr. Jingles in a warm embrace. "Welcome home, Mr. Jingles! WELCOME HOME!" Mr. Jingles returned the hugs, his smile radiant with happiness.
