Angel - Chapter Four

"Your going to be late." My brother said as we headed toward the academy.

"I know. Is it ok if you stay longer?" I ask with plead in my eyes.

He laughed and patted my head." No Angel. Remember my duties. You have to become a Queen for the people."

"Why can't the people run it on its own? Why have kingdoms and kings and queens?" I stare out my window, trying not to make contact with him.

"The people need someone to do it for them. And that will be you."

I didn't comment on that. The academy came into view and I was taken back. I saw a line of maids waiting. Weird. In our kingdom, my mom would always frown upon the use of maids. We were strong enough to do things on our own. No need for someone else to. I thought no maids were a universal rule. I guess not.

"Angel." My brother said as we stepped out.

"Yes?" I ask.

"Mom and Dad would be so proud of you right now." He hugged me tightly and I did the same. Ever since my parents died, it felt as if the glass under me shattered. I think the glass shattered quicker for my brother more than me. All I can do is do what I was told to please him.

"Thank you." I said calmly. He let go and all the maids curtsied to me and him. He waved me goodbye and left.

"Your late." Said one of the maids.

"But we still have a room for you. Follow me." I followed the maid to my room, which was filled with two people unpacking. Again, I was taken back.

I was good with people. My dad taught me how to, but those were citizens. These are Princes and Princesses. That a whole new chapter. I made my way to a spare bed calmly and collected.

I curtsied to them and began to un-pack like my mom would. Looking calm and collect.

Calm and collect was anything but what I was feeling.
