Chapter 8: Forbidden Love

"The asset of art is the perfection of mastering the creativity of intelligence." This profound truth marked the beginning of the Supreme's passionate work, from creating simple life forms to the most complex and extraordinary beings. With eternity at hand, unrestricted by our concept of relative time, the universe was born. What we humans call science was the embodiment of the Supreme's intelligent craftsmanship, as He formed galaxies, planets, intricate life forms, and conceptual wonders like time, realms, and parallel worlds. We named these marvels astrophysics, particle physics, atomic physics, and countless other fields, but many of these enigmas elude our understanding. The human desire for power corrupts, clouding our potential to comprehend these wonders. Greed, born in various corners of the multiverse, taints the hearts of beings across dimensions.

Approximately 4.54 billion years ago, the perfect Earth, potentially habitable for higher life forms, came into existence. Celestial beings rejoiced, envisioning another wonder of the Supreme. Over time, as Earth became hospitable to intelligent life, two similar life forms emerged, each interpreting these wonders differently:

One that classified these wonders to a weird word they came up with called 'science'. This world was full of higher life forms that called themselves 'homo sapiens' and tried to come up with possible ways to understand- hwell, science. These beings were very skeptical and were not capable of protecting the ancestral knowledge, leaving them way behind from possessing the true 'power' ' sought by many; so much so that the current generation lost the knowledge of the existence of such powers itself, for them 'magic' was bunnies hopping out of a black hat. It is recently rumored that they created a new power called 'tiktok trends' and exchanged favors for papers called 'currency' instead of priced possessions like gold coins. Therefore separating their struggles entirely from that of the other world.

The other life form, however, could preserve this knowledge and pass it down to their generations. This knowledge led them to unlock many undiscovered powers and such discoveries needed protection and this is why the need of Guardians and the Royals arose; their duty was to protect the world along with all of their other magical beings and habitants. The guardians were blessed with special powers. The magical powers of these special 'auras' one owned from within their bodies were connected to their souls and these powers could never be inherited by chance. The royals who owned these powers were the chosen ones for centuries and earned their powers. No random human from the human world could summon such powers. These special powers unlike the flying broomsticks or witchcraft wands, were possessed by people who needed to learn to control them because the gift of these powers would turn into a curse any minute the person lost its control on it. Upholding the kingdom's prestige was a colossal responsibility for the Guardians and they were trained to do so for as long as they could remember.

In the current timeline, the Magical World with all its wonders were divided into two worlds because of the ongoing civil wars between the two most important power bearers who held the utmost responsibility of holding the balance of the world - Yin and Yang. The Empires of Light and Dark. It was not always that there were differences between the kingdoms but for as long as anyone alive could remember, there were wars and conflicts that led them to fight each other than their actual arch-nemesis. These huge empires were divided into many smaller kingdoms of royal blood. Within these royalties were born the future guardians of the Light Empire of Yang who had these special powers of light auras and natural elements dominated by the kingdoms. The Dark Empire of Yin on the other hand had guardians potentially born to already uphold this balance. They weren't humans but they weren't entirely magic either. They were beautiful creations born with the characteristics of the royal blood's replication and tended to act like how they would have if they switched places. They were biologically and psychologically more alike than any pair of twins could ever be; however, even with all the known facts about them, their existence still remained a mystery even to themselves. A mystery no one dared to question or solve. One of the unspoken secrets that always remained unspoken for unknown reasons.

The cycle of chaos and revenge begins after every millennium when a villain is born and a hero is made. Destiny's choices had given birth to the fated demon within her. It was about that time that the magic world once again arose for its survival; when the civil wars were once again kept aside for a greater victory; when common differences were once again lost for more than, just materialistic prized possessions.

Like the sun's existence without the moon is fatal to Earth. The sun prince's existence was fatal without the moon princess's. Their destinies were entwined and fated to cross paths. The balance of the earth was to be made by the two. Destiny had singled out Y/n as the chosen one—the Moon Princess of the millennium.

Being bound at the Goblin cave and the Goblinorest for six long months, emerging as the best version of herself, and becoming one of the most renowned moon princesses had sounded like a grand plan for Y/n. However, by the end of the first day of her so-called training, serious problems arose. Soon after Jennie's departure, Yeonjun began their already planned training session to help Y/n gain control over her powers. But then, a strange sense of pain struck her chest, causing all four goblins in the cave to tense up.

"I don't understand what's wrong with her, hyung! Do something!" Beomgyu screamed, his voice filled with panic as he carefully laid Y/n on a huge rock, serving as a makeshift bed. Yeonjun hurried to her side; he chanted some spells as he drew a symbol on her forehead, trying to diagnose the cause. He placed his finger in the middle of her upper abdomen, where one's soul and aura were believed to reside. Yeonjun's closed eyes contorted from calm to tense, a whirlwind of emotions that alarmed the other goblins. As he opened his eyes, fear was clearly visible in them.

"The Princes of Yin and Yang are dead," Yeonjun declared, his gaze fixed on Y/n. "Her suffering stems from the departure of their souls from this realm." The other three goblins gasped in disbelief.

Y/n will recover in a few hours, but I'm unsure how the moon princess can wield her powers without her destined prince. Her powers are incomplete without him," Yeonjun explained the situation.

"The princes cannot be dead. I just can't believe it," Soobin persisted, clinging to hope.

"But they are, I am certain. Now, we need to discuss our next course of action," Yeonjun stated firmly. Silence filled the room, followed by nods of agreement from the other goblins, signaling their readiness to proceed. Yeonjun left Y/n in her room within the cave, walking out to the main discussion area where all the goblins gathered for crucial conversations. The other three goblins followed him, but Beomgyu couldn't help but steal a glance at Y/n's unconscious body, his face filled with hurt at the thought of what she had to endure. He wiped away a tear and joined the others in the common discussion room, holding back his emotions.

"Before we start the discussion, we should wait for Kai to join us" Soobin suggested.

"He's better off staying out of it," Taehyun retorted sarcastically.

"But don't you think it's time we stop keeping him in the dark and let him know what's going on?" Soobin insisted.

"No, he's as mature as a walnut", Taehyun said dismissively.

"I believe he should be informed; he's a Guardian Goblin for a reason, and withholding crucial information won't help him grow or mature", Soobin protested. "What do you think, Gyu?" Soobin asked Beomgyu, snapping him out of his thoughts.

"Oh, yes, I agree with Soobin," Beomgyu replied, "Kai deserves to know; he won't learn or mature if we continue to hide things from him." Beomgyu supported Soobin's viewpoint.

"I don't think we gathered here to discuss Kai and his lack of information, did we?" Taehyun replied sarcastically.

"Kai is destined to be the Greatest Goblin, and we must protect him as long as we can. Let him enjoy his youth; I don't want him burdened with such weight at such a tender age," Yeonjun intervened.

"He's 1800 years old now; that should be enough," Soobin persisted, continuing the argument.

"To bear the pain?" Yeonjun questioned, silencing everyone. Taehyun had been shielding Kai from the pain he would have to endure, for no power came without a cost. Recognizing the gravity of Yeonjun's words, everyone fell silent. Yeonjun continued, "I would like to hear your opinions on Y/n's situation and our next steps." He presented the crucial question once again.

"I think we should stick to our plan and continue teaching her everything as scheduled. She'll have to face her rival alone and become a smarter, better queen all by herself," Taehyun suggested.

"It's not just about learning; she NEEDS her mate to unlock all her powers, and no training can change that," Soobin emphasized the word "needs" as he expressed his opinion.

"Beomgyu?" Yeonjun turned to Beomgyu, seeking his thoughts. Beomgyu was pulled back from his thoughts once more.

"It's not only about unlocking her magical capabilities; her emotional and mental state must be in the right place for any of this to truly succeed, and practically, I don't know how much of that can be achieved," Beomgyu explained.

"I think she can use her pain to control her powers; once she regains consciousness, she might excel beyond her current state. Even though she is horrible at the moment she could turn herself into the strongest moon princess we've ever had." Taehyun countered.

"So, what are you suggesting we do?" Soobin inquired.

"Let's continue as planned," Taehyun said firmly.

"Hmm. We proceed as planned," Yeonjun agreed as he dispersed the group to carry out their respective tasks.

Yeonjun and Taehyun proceeded to work at the 'Arsenal Emporium' where advanced magical weapons were crafted for the Magic World. Guardian Goblins like them possessed the unique power to bring these incredible inventions to life, making them highly valued beings in the magical realm. Meanwhile, Soobin and Beomgyu attended to various chores around the cave. Beomgyu seemed distant, unable to be his usual playful and mischievous self.

"Beomgyu? Gyu? Are you with me?" Soobin called out, noticing his friend's distracted demeanor.

"Yes, I'm here," Beomgyu responded, trying to snap out of his thoughts.

"You don't seem okay. You burned the food," Soobin pointed out, indicating the pot of food Beomgyu was cooking.

"I am so sorry" Beomgyu looked at the food and came back to his senses. He groaned looking at the burnt food.

"It's alright! Let me cook today. You sit down," Soobin said, taking the wooden spoon from Beomgyu's hand and offering a small smile. Beomgyu felt terrible, but he complied, taking a seat in front of Soobin, who began cooking in his stead.

"I didn't realize it's already dark outside," Beomgyu remarked, glancing out of the cave.

"Yeah, but what's bothering you? Something doesn't seem right. Is it about R—" Soobin started to inquire, but Beomgyu swiftly interrupted with a sharp "No!"

"It's not about her. Everything's fine," Beomgyu insisted.

"Is it about the princes?" Soobin questioned, sensing the underlying worry in Beomgyu

"I feel awful how Y/n needs to go through the pain of losing her mate. Mates that aren't meant to be in this life; she will have to suffer a longing of another 1000 years, just to experience a touch from the person she loves, just a loving hug? Another 1000 years sounds like an eternity away, can she wait so long for him?" Beomgyu softly asked with his eyes tearing up. He takes a deep breath to subside the feeling of a rush of immense pain which seemed to drown him. Soobin gently placed the wooden spoon on a stone bowl and moved to stand beside his friend, comforting him by rubbing Beomgyu's back tenderly.

"Shhh. Perhaps she can find solace in someone else's company; she doesn't have to endure such a long wait," Soobin whispered softly. Beomgyu, unable to hold back his emotions, rested his head on Soobin's thigh, a single tear escaping his eye. "And so can you," Soobin said stroking his head with care; hearing that Beomgyu lost the last string that held him together. The pain had become unbearable, and he could no longer hide the depth of his sorrow; his cries echoed throughout the room. Soobin sat beside him, his heart aching for his broken friend.

"Gyu, you've suffered long enough. Loving someone else is not a betrayal; Roselet loved you, and you loved her too. Cherish those memories but also find the strength to move forward. Giving up on love just because it wasn't meant to be is not the right path. Roselet wanted you to find happiness and love again, not to be trapped in this endless suffering," Soobin said, his eyes filled with empathy as he witnessed Beomgyu's shattered state.

In the world of goblins, life stretched on for a hundred thousand years, an eternity compared to humans. Guardian Goblins, in particular, bore the weighty responsibility of preserving ancestral knowledge and delving deeper into the secrets of magic. When a Guardian Goblin lost their soulmate, the pain they endured transcended any human suffering. Each passing day became an agonizing journey, with every second filled with the piercing ache of their loss. The burden of their heartbreak was soul-crushing, an unyielding torment that they bore throughout eternity, entangled in the malevolence of their 'Forbidden love'.

"No!" Beomgyu's voice trembled with unwavering determination, the tears in his eyes glistening like fallen stars. "I shall remain steadfast, waiting for my Roselet, even if the eons stretch to another 10,000 years or an unfathomable eternity." Beomgyu declared with unwavering determination. The faint light from the lantern illuminated his tear-streaked face and teary eyes as he confronted Soobin. Soobin's heart broke seeing his friend in such agony, but he felt helpless, unable to take away the pain.

"Till the stars don't lose their shine; till the moon doesn't lose its light; till the dawn doesn't crash with dusk;" Beomgyu's sobs intervened in his words, but he pressed on with a quivering breath and a shattered voice. "I will wait for Roselet, right here till death doesn't engulf me alive, I will wait for my love." he screamed tears streaming down his face. Soobin was at loss of words.

Soobin hugged him tight as he whispered some spells in his ears. "I stand helpless, unable to truly comprehend the magnitude of the pain you bear", Soobin whispered as he looked at Beomgyu's unconscious face. He had cast a sleep spell on Beomgyu, hoping to alleviate some of his agony. Carrying his friend on his back, he walked silently to Beomgyu's room. As a true friend, Soobin knew that despite Beomgyu's brightest smiles, he was utterly broken, and it pained Soobin deeply that he couldn't do more to relieve that suffering.
