-The Departing Day-

It was early in the morning as they all gather in front of the church to bid their farewell to the trio.

Kana now dress in a red sweater, a green skirt pair with black shorts, and a long green coat with knee-length brown boots. Her grimoire in a pouch strapped over her right side of the waist as she is right-handed.

Her expression saddens as she looks over her family, people who have taken care of her, and accepted her when she first arrived. Then there's the youngster who gave her the experience of having younger siblings which she never had to imagine she could have.

Father notices the look on her face and his expression softens. "Take care, okay?"

She nods feeling the tears threatening to show.

"You better write to us, Yuno-nii, Kana-nee." Rekka state with a smile on her face as she also holding back her tears.

"Sure." "Will do." Both of them state in sync.

"Good luck!" Aruru cheer.

"Come back soon!" Hollo adds.

Kana flash them a smile. "I will come to visit. Don't worry okay?" She ruffles the youngest boy's hair making him brighten up.

"He'll be back soon.... Asta, that is."

"Nash!" The mocked boy shouts in disbelief.

The red hair girl smiles fondly as she stands by Yuno's side watching as Nash approaching the loud boy.

"But you know..." The short brown hair starts. "If, just if, and it's a very huge if- If you get into the Magic Knight-"

"Yeah?" Asta, watch in awe at the determination look on the young boy's face.

"I'll believe in possibilities. I'll believe I can become anything. And then one day, I'll get into the Magic Knights, too." He then bashfully face away. "No, never mind."

"I'll be waiting for you." Asta smirk.

Kana and Yuno glance at each other smiling knowingly.

"Well, we will be off." The messy-haired boy bid his farewell with the red-haired girl waving over them.

"Hey, wait, you two!" Asta runs catching up with both of them. "Answer me, you handsome jerk!"

"Are you trying to mock him or flatter him?" Kana sweatdrop.

"Just because we're rivals doesn't mean we can't get along!" The shortest continue and stuck his tongue out over the girl who just shakes her head in amusement. But his speech was ignored by Yuno who walk up ahead not caring over his comments.

"Hey!" Asta call over him and then spun over the church members. "Well, bye, guys!" Kana join him as she also turns around waving to them.

"Have a safe trip!" "See ya." The chant over.

As the red hair turn back forward, a stray of tears falls over her face making her sniff.

Yuno and Asta glance over the girl in shock then their expression softens. The tallest boy reassuringly pats her head and while the other one pats her back.

She wipes the tears away and flashes them a smile in thanking manner. Taking a deep breath, she takes hold of both boys' hands. They weren't surprised by the gesture as she always did it ever since they were a child.

After hours of walking out of the Hage Village, the trio finally reaches the forest. The sounds of leaves ruffling from the breeze of wind passing them along with chirping of birds and crickets gave them a wave of calmness.

"The royal capital, huh... I wonder what it's like." Asta spoke up in thought. "I wonder if we'll get to meet the Wizard King!"

"First, we need to pass the Magic Knights entrance exam. Then, we'll talk." Yuno states in his disinterest tone.

"I'm so excited!"

"Excited?" The wind user mutter in confuse then asks. "Aren't you scared?"

"Huh? Why would I be?"

Kana chuckle as she listens to their conversation. Truth to be told, that part of Asta who never giving up or dismissing kind of thought has always surprised her even when she has known him for so long. Such patient and spirit weren't one to look down too which is why never in her life had she ever thought that there's nothing that boy couldn't do.

"You never change." Yuno smiles softly.

"Come on, let's hurry! The royal capital's super far away!" The ash blonde-haired boy hypes up and took off.

"Hey."

"I've gotta hurry up and become the Wizard King!"

"Just because you get there quickly doesn't mean you'll become the Wizard King any quicker." Yuno reminds him. His words however only meet with deaf ears as Asta drowns by his daydreaming.

"I'm gonna become the Wizard King, and-"

Both of them sweatdrop as they watch Asta took a random branch and act as if it a broom dreaming of what the assume that includes Sister Lily.

"It could happen!"

"Can you even ride a broom when you don't have any magic?" Yuno bluntly asks.

"Don't think so." Kana shrug.

"Gah!" The ash-blonde haired boy drops the branch in shock but he quickly recovers. "I-I'll make it work!"

"Will you?" They ask in sync.

"I will! I got my grimoire! I can do anything as long as I don't give up!" He then took off leaving the other two behind. "Come on, hurry up! I'm gonna leave you two behind! Let's train to all the way to royal capital!"

"You can't be serious." Yuno state before taking off.

Kana, however, decided against following knowing that her endurance wasn't as near as the muscle brain little monster. She sighs as she watches them grow smaller as they get farther and farther. "Yeah right?" She mutters as she walks at her own pace.

Only when she finally reaches the rocky road that she finally manages to reach the boys. She watches as they painting madly with Asta falling flat on his back and Yuno taking a sweat breathing hard.

"Not yet! I'm not done yet!" Asta declares only to be running in place as Yuno tugging the back of the shorter boy's shirt not wanting any more running.

The girl watches in amusement as the messy black-haired boy who had enough throw Asta back harshly making him hitting the wall and release a loud sigh. "You should just let him go on his own." She states as she took a seat by his side and offer him a drink which he gladly accepts. "Maybe the wild animal would take him in seeing how wild he is or eats him for being too loud."

Yuno wipes the water that drips over his chin and chuckled. "That was a good idea."

"Kana-chan is so cruel!!!" The boy finally regains himself shout.

As days passing by, they continue their journey to the Royal Capital.

Kana walks by Yuno's side as he used his magic to block the rain from hitting them while the certain stubborn boy uses his sword acting as an umbrella.

When night came, Yuno and Kana will take a turn to stay awake and decided against letting the ash-blonde hair boy take the responsibility knowing that he would only end up dozing off.

For their food, Kana would let the boys hunt while she starts the fire and readying to cook them.

"I wish everyone back at the church could eat this, too." Asta mention after taking a bite of cooked meat.

"Yeah." Yuno nods agreeing while Kana stare over her meat in thought. 'Yeah, they will love it'

They later reach the misty forest while blinded their way through them. Kana summon up a flame making it float giving them some more view of their surroundings.

But as they reach the two pathways, the thicken fog made it worse for them to decide which way to take.

"This way!" Asta point over their right.

Knowing that Asta, they decided against his decision and the wind magic user use his ability making the fog in front of them disappear revealing routes sign.

"No, it's this way." Yuno points over their left.

Kana walks ahead with Yuno right behind her as she let the fire brighten the front.

"H-hey, wait!"

Few days after the forest, they reach another rocky path. A loud sound of rocks slides shock them as they watch numerous of them falling towards them.

Asta leaps forward summoning his sword and use it to destroy one of them.

Meanwhile, the other two took out their grimoires and summon their attribute.

The burst of fire and wind easily destroy the other rocks leaving them in size of pebbles.

"Stay out of my way!" Asta shout.

"I just gave you a hand." Yuno simply said in sync with Kana who state. "I just want to live."

"No one asked you too! And Kana-chan so cruel!!"

That, however, earn him a large smoky bump on his head.

"No need to be so rude." She scolds showing her fist with her eyes narrow darkly to him.

"Hai, I'm so sorry." He bows holding his throbbing head.

Since it's getting late, the trio decided to camp just by the river.

As usual, the red hair girl will prepare the fire while the boys go to catch the food which this time is the fish river.

Kana watch from their campsite Asta manages to catch a fish by his bare hands which awe her over his skill but chuckle as she watches the losing hater use his magic and catch bunch more fishes which cause the shorter boy's jaw drop.

After a few more days, they finally got out of the forest and reach over the desert path which made them sweat heavily from the heat directed by the sun.

Kana now has her coat took off from feeling too hot. She may have fire attribute magic but there some heat that wasn't up to her control.

The black messy-haired boy glance over the girl silently fanning herself and watch as sweat falls from her forehead.

Feeling eyes on her, the girl glance over her left and raise her eyebrows over the boy who stares intensely at her. "What?" Upon those words came out of her mouth, a gentle breeze aids her giving her a sudden coolness making her hum in comfort. "Thank you, Yuno."

The boy simply nods with a small blush as they continue their walk. Along the way, Asta stops and drinks his water supply then offer it to the other boy who simply accepts it and goes to take a sip only to spat it out from the strong bitterness hitting his throat.

Kana laugh over his expression while Asta shouts over the loss of his precious leaf juice. "My precious moguro leaf juice!"

The tallest boy glare over him in annoy only to found another bottle of water offer to him. He glances over the girl and took it. He peeks over the content and took a big gulp of it. "Thanks."

She simply smiles as she put away the bottle while the ash-blonde hair boy mourns over his juice.

Each day passes by with the same routines of the boys racing each other as training or so they while the red-haired girl simply walks at her own pace. Like always, they pass another forest, make a camp, restock their supplies, and continue their journey.

It was near the afternoon that they go across another rocky road mountain. They walk up of it with Kana and Yuno up ahead. They both stop at the sight in front of them, glancing over each other with a smile then back to it.

"What's the matter you two?" Asta who finally reaches them asks the only gape, leaving him speechless.

After weeks of a long and perilous journey, they finally see it, the royal capital right up ahead of them.

"Whoa, it's huge!" The ash-blonde hair exclaim. "So that's the royal capital. That's where the Wizard King is. All right! I'm gonna do this! I'll be right there! Just you wait!" He shouts and took off once again.

Kana sigh with a smile glancing over the messy black-haired boy. "Come on." She simply states and both of them go and follow the shorter boy.

Truth to be told, she couldn't help but be nervous at her choice of doing. But there's no going back and she didn't think off it because she needs the answer, the one that has hunted her for years, she needs to know.
