Multiverse [Lesson 5]
Ahem, I'm just gonna say it.
MULTIVERSE STORIES ARE SUCH A BAD IDEA, DON'T JUST DON'T DO THEM.
There it is.
You don't get it?
Okay fine, let me run a simple question by you.
When does a Multiverse story end?
Multiverse stories are like this:
They're cool, really cool.
You get to imagine your character meeting Goku, Naruto, Ichigo, and more!
These stories tend to have a horrible case of "far too much." Too many abilities for the main character, top many side characters from different series, and too many damn waifus.
Way too many waifus.
The real kicker with these series though, is that they don't have any REAL conflict.
Sure, you could be in DBZ and have to face Frieza, but if you can just hop into a different universe and know that Goku will handle it anyways, what's the problem?
You just wanna be the hero of DBZ? Well, that requires overcoming problems, actually creating relationships with the characters, y'know, making a story.
Your character, in most cases, "(Y/n)" can't be the hero of every story, with good character development, good friends, and interesting enemies in a Multiverse story.
Huh, I was supposed to make them Gods of Wattpad?
Oh shi―
My 100% actual advice is to just avoid writing Multiverse stories unless you really want to, or if you actually have a decent idea. Here's a few I just thought up on the spot.
1. The MC is jumping through the universes and trying to find items before their enemy can get them. This one would take hard work, but you could get kinda cool results out of it. This would mean that creating relationships with these different characters can't really happen though, because your main character has to leave anyways.
2. MC tries to jump into these universes for fun, but ends up changing them drastically, and can't bare to just leave them messed up, so they promise to fix it. This wouldn't be very "Multiverse" because they'd stick in the first anime/series they drop in.
3. The MC is trapped in one of the universes and against all odds, has to train and beat the strongest person or the original MC in order to get out. This is dope, you could get things like your MC becoming apart of the Akatsuki or having to somehow get strong enough to face Goku as a weeb who originally rarely exercised. This doesn't make you MC necessarily evil either, you just have to do it correctly.
But yeah, I'd like to think this could be cool, but I also like to think Ii'm not stupid enough to do it myself.
I try to write stories I know I can finish, or at least finish an entire arc of. With a Multiverse story, that's not even slightly possible, not for me.
Maybe you could do it.
Until the next lesson, toodles.
