#5

I dreamed about you last night.

In my dreams, we were on top of a cliff, surrounded by rising conifers and glistening snow. We were sitting right at the edge, gazing at the constellations that decorated the midnight sky. You were drinking a bottle of Dos Equis, while I was having a glass of champagne.

We talked for hours, disregarding time. We discussed political ideas and religious beliefs, of the world and its atrocities. We talked of Mumbai and its bustling streets, eternally exuberant and alive. Of its wonderful street food and markets, and trains filled with people at any hour of the day. We also talked about the filth and poverty, and how corruption was present in every nook and cranny of a country otherwise so culturally rich and vibrant.Every year, I spend one month of my summer vacation in India while you lived there for about five years.

And there is also the fact that your father is Indian and so are both my parents.

Soon, daylight crept through the shadows of the night. All of a sudden, the sky was splattered with shades of deep purple, red and brilliant orange. You looked enraptured by this sight, and I couldn't help but think that you looked like a wonder-struck little kid. And although it was a dream, this made me fall for you more.

And then, we slow-danced under the bleeding sky to the music of the birds chirping and trees swaying. We danced, gazing deep into each others eyes, atop a cliff in the middle of nowhere. But good things don't last forever. The shrill sound of my alarm woke me up, and all of a sudden, I was drawn back to reality.

I wish dreams came true, Ashton. I really do.
