I wake up on Sunday and groan. Its back to the hoity toity Baptist Church! In my pajamas I head to the kitchen to eat some eggs and vegan bacon. I like bacon and hate eating animals, so here's an alternative. Once I'm done I head to my bathroom and take a shower. I don't wash my hair because I'm going to curl it.

    I go to my room and pick out my clothes. The outfit Laura got me for church and my pair of black flat sandals. For my eye makeup I do my greyish green look on my eyes and add some blush for color. I feel confident I won't get the weird looks today and so, I head downstairs.

    Laura smiles as I walk into the kitchen.
     "You look really pretty today!"
     "Thanks!"
     "Do you have any plans for this afternoon?" She asks me.
     "Nope."
     "Well do you want to go out to Mr. Mathews ranch? We are going there for lunch."
     "Sure. I want to get a look at the place if I'm going to work there." I tell her.
     "Cool well I'm gonna get ready and then we are going to the church for breakfast." She tells me as dad comes into the kitchen.

     I turn to the coffee pot and start preping for my coffee.
     "Kara could you make me some?" Dad asks.
     "Sure." I say and add some more water for his.
     "Hey guess who gets out tomorrow?"
     "Who?" I ask.
     "Travis so no jogging in the park. I got you a membership at the local gym with me. We can go three days a week and on Saturdays you can bring Candy with you." He tells me sternly.
     "Okay dad!" I say rolling my eyes.

    We will never get along. I don't know if I can ever forget how he left me and mom. When the coffee is done I hand dad his cup and take mine to the front porch. The breeze ruffles my hair and the blue jays are chirping up in the tree in our front yard.

    A few minutes later laura and dad come out and we all head to the car. Laura is in a blue and white sun dress, and her hair is braided to the side.

    When we get to the church I head to the Sunday school room. Kade is there with his friend Ahser from last night.
     "Hey what's up?" I ask.
     "Well class is about to start. But I heard your family is coming to the ranch for dinner. Are you coming with them?" He asks.
     "Yeah I need to talk to your dad about the job." I tell him.
     "Cool we can hang out more!" He says excitedly.

    I nod turning away because of the blush on my face. The Sunday school teacher comes in.
     "Hey everyone, and to Mr. Vincents daughter it's good to have you, my name is Mrs. Jaxon." She says. The class is very quiet. Mrs. Jaxon doesn't put up with nonsense.

    She talks about how to forgive others and that its good to forgive. When you don't forgive the resentment and hatred grows to the point that its impossible to get over any wrong doings.

    When the class is over I have to wipe away a few tears. Mrs. Jaxon just smiles at me and Kade pats my back. On the way out the door I give her a hug and say.
     "Thank you. That was a good lesson."
     "If you ever need to talk I'm here." She smiles at me. I nod and head to where my dad and Laura are talking to Kades dad. He smiles as I approach him.
     "Hey Kara how are you?"
     "Good, the lesson today was good. How about you?"
     "I'm pretty good. Have you thought about my offer?" He asks.
     "Yes and I will take the job." I tell him straitly.
     "Okay well when you come over we will talk pay and hours."
     "Sounds great!" I say and hold out my hand for a shake. He takes it and we shake firmly.

    When Kade comes up and sees us shaking he laughs.
     "Well Kara making business?"
     "Yes!" I say and he pulls me out to the parking lot. We get some looks because his arm is around my shoulders. My cheeks must be very red.

    We get to the ranch in a short amount of time but I had fallen asleep. When Kade opens the door I fall out and into him. He laughs as I blush and straiten up.
     "I'm sorry my coffee wore off." I tell him as I step from the car. He nods and pulls me into the house.
     "Our cook Rosita is amazing! She made steak, salad, and baked beans."
     "Okay!" I say as we step into the house.

    The room we step into is furnished with dark brown couches and a bright blue rug. There are some deers heads above the fireplace and the walls are a beige color.

    It is dim but I can see the appeal of the place. I follow my dad to the kitchen where a hispanic lady is setting the table.
     "Hello dearies! Oh I see we have a new guest today!" She exclaims when she sees me.
     "Kara this is Rosita, Rosita this is my daughter Rosita." My dad says and Rosita smiles.
     "Its nice to meet you!" I say and smile back at her.

    When Kade and his Father come in Rosita bussles back to the kitchen and we sit down to eat. I wonder where she goes when we eat. I don't say anything and sit down to eat.
     "Kara would you like a steak?" Mr. Mathews asks.
     "No thank you. I'm a Vegetarian." I tell him so he passes the plate to my dad who is on the other side of me.
     "Kara do you wanna have a tour today after we eat?" Kade asks me.
     "Sure!" I say and grab some salad when it comes around.

    The beans and salad are amazing so I head to the kitchen where I find Rosalita cleaning dishes, she smiles as I come into the room.
     "Rosalita I wanted to tell you thank you for the food and tell you it was good today." I say.
     "Aww honey your welcome."
     "Okay if you ever want to teach someone your recipes I'll gladly learn."
     "Well on one of your spare days you'll have to come out and I'll teach you how to make that salad from today." She says and I nod.
     "KARA??" Kade calls from the front of the house.
     "COMING!" I call out.
     "Thanks again." I say to Rosita and then rush to the front of the house.

    Kade is standing in the living room with a pair of boots in one of his hands and a change of clothes.
     "Here put these on and come outside to the porch when your done." He tells me. I take them and go to the bathroom to change into them. Its a pair of sweats and a t shirt of his.

    They smell like him but I need do hurry so no time to gush. I quickley put them on and head to the front porch to meet Kade. He hands me a pair of boots and a pair of socks.
     "Thanks." I tell him and slip them all on.
     "What do you wanna see?" He asks me.
     "The barn and where I will be working the most." I tell him.
     "Okay I will show you. Do you wanna go for a ride on the fourwheelers after you talk to my dad?"
     "Yeah I wanna drive this time though!" I tell him as we walk into the barn.
     "There are two so we can both drive one." He tells me as we step into the barn door. The smell of horse manure hits me and I cough.

    Kade laughs and pulls me to the back of the barn where two muddy fourwheelers sit.
     "What did you do roll in the mud with it?" I ask him.
     "No, this is how they always are until we clean them." He tells me. I grimace and snag the smaller one. He groans and steps in the big on.
"The keys are in that pocket in the side." He says.
"Okay thanks." I say and then grab the key reving the engine up.

    We slowly pull out of the barn and Kade leads me to a big field. Once in he takes off so I follow him as fast as I can. The wind is in my face and I scream. I feel like I'm on a really strait and flat roller coaster. Its fun!

    Kade wheels my way and slows down so I do the same.
     "Wanna race?" He challenges me.
     "Your so on!" I yell as I rev the engine.

    We find a starter point in the field and then when Kade throws his hat in the air we take off. I push the little fourwheeler as fast as it can go but Kade is still neck and neck with me. His fourwheeler is faster but I want to win so I slow down and get in his tire treads. He should slow and turn and look at me. When he looks his fourwheeler will go off course and I can shoot forward.

    Sure enough when I get behind him he slows and starts to steer to the left. I rev the engine again winking at him as I shoot past him on a smooth track to the end of the field.
     "You play dirty!" Kade laughs as he pulls forward.
     "I know how to win." I tell at him as he pulls me closer. His face is really close to me and I start to get really warm.
     "Kara please?" He whispers. His eyes on my mouth.

    I pull away and shake my head no. He looks away and heads to his fourwheeler. I watch as he speeds away and my eyes close in regret. I do like him, but my stupid head. I slowly head back to the barn and cry silently.

    Kade is walking away as I pull in. He doesn't even turn and look at me so I park the fourwheeler and put the key back in the pouch.

    Dad and laura are talking to Mr. Mathews.
     "Kara are you ready to go?" Dad asks me.
     "Yeah." I mumble and head to the bathroom to change back into my clothes.

    When I'm done I head to Kades room and ask.
     "What do you want me to do with these?"
     "Just give them here." He mumbles.
     "Okay, and Kade? I'm sorry." I Tell him then once I've handed him the clothes I head to the living room where Mr. Mathews and my dad are talking.
     "Laura is in the car you can go out there. I'll be out in a minute." I nod and rush to the car.

    After dinner I sit in my room and cry into my pillow. I've messed everything up with Kade, now we can't even be friends. I really need hin as a friend.

    My cell phone pings with a text and I pick it up.
Kade: Hey I'm sorry about earlier.
Me: It's fine. I'm sorry too. Idk how to do this type of stuff.
Kade: Its alright. Can we just be friends that like each other?
Me: Yeah but just friends nothing more. I'm too young for the real thing.
Kade: Alright. Night. You looked really pretty today!

     I blush at this and type back.
Me: Thanks! Night.
With that I head to the shower to renew my soul in hot water. Tomorrow is back to school so I need go be looking and feeling fresh.
