"Doctor?" Fern murmured as her eyes started to open. They were still waiting in the emergency room, and it's only been 15 minutes.

"Shhh, Fern, go back to sleep." He said to the child in his arms.

"I'm already up." Fern looked around. "Where are we?"

"We're in the Emergency Room." When the Doctor said that Fern yelled and brought the jacket over herself. Everyone looked at her weird.

"What wrong?"

"The hospital is where people die. . . I'm only 5! I'm too young to die!"

"Fern," Mickey chuckled out, "are you scared of doctors?"

"No, I mean, yes. But, I only like one doctor, and he's THE Doctor." Fern said still covered by the jacket, not even peeking out from under it.

"Doctor?" A voice said.

"Oh no." The Doctor muttered.

"Doctor, it's so good to see you. And hello Rose Tyler."

"Shut it."

"For just saying hi?"

"Yes."

"Oh, I don't mind." Rose said.

"And you," the man said, "must be Rose's sister."

"Oh stop it, I'm old enough to be your mother."

"No, you're young enough to be my great-great-great-granddaughter."

"I want the cream you're using then." The man chuckled.

"Alright, I'll send a sample. And who's under the jacket?" Fern peeked out. A man was kneeling at her eye-level, he had black hair and blue eyes, he was wearing a captain's jacket, and for Fern he looked like a regular Prince Charming. "Hello young lady." The Doctor glared, Jack gave him a look of disgust, saying that what the Doctor was thinking was gross.

"H-hello." Fern murmured, ignoring the exchange of looks the Doctor and the Prince Charming had.

"My name is Captain Jack Harkness. And you must be a princess that the Doctor is safely returning back to her kingdom." Fern smiled.

"I'm Fern, and the Doctor is taking care of me."

"Oh, well, then Princess Fern. I bet the Doctor is doing a good job taking care of you." Fern giggled. Jack smiled. "Now, why are you here Princess Fern?"

Fern giggled again, and she started coughing again. It was a couple moments before she stopped.

"That's why." She croaked out.

"Bad case of the flu." The Doctor said.

"Let me guess. Since you're the princess, if you get sick the whole kingdom gets sick, and the Doctor is helping you get better." Fern giggled.

"No, I'm just sick."

"Well, the Doctor will get you better, and you'll be back to your kingdom in no time." Fern smiled again. "Princess Fern, can you go sit with Rose? I need to talk to the Doctor." Fern nodded and the Doctor handed her to Rose who was sitting right beside him.

Jack pulled the Doctor to the other side of the room.

"You and both know that you wouldn't bring her here if she didn't have the flu. I know you'd be able to take care of that." The Doctor looked at Jack.

"She's has pneumonia, and it's getting worse. In the current state she's in, it can be fatal. She's very weak."

"But Doctor, she's just a kid. She can't die this young."

"You're right, that's why I brought her here. I knew that'd they be able to take care of her better than I can."

"I'll help."

"I have a question, Captain."

"Yes, Doctor?"

"How'd you get here?"

"Vortex Manipulator. I won't be able to stay here long though. I don't have that much time before the manipulator makes me go back to World War 2."

"Those things are absolutely pieces of-"

"Doctor!" A nurse called.

"That's us." The Doctor said following Rose, Jackie, Mickey who were following the nurse. Jack grabbed the Doctor's wrist.

"Oh, I'm coming with." He said as he jogged on front of him. The Doctor grumbled and followed. When he got in, Fern was sitting on a bed, ready for the check up. She was still wearing his coat.

Fern smiled at him, in which the Doctor smiled back. A doctor came in, and was surprised to see all the people there. Fern draped the jacket over her head again, hiding from the doctor.

"This is a lot of people for check-up." The doctor said. The doctor noticed Fern on the bed and smirked at the sight of her with the coat in her head. "That's too bad, all my patients get a piece of candy after a treat them, looks like I brought this piece of candy for nothing." Fern quickly dropped the coat off her head and looked at the doctor wide-eyed.

"Candy?!"

"Yes, candy."

"I am ready for the check-up."
