"Higher!" Fern called in between her constant giggles of delight as Jack pushed her on the swing.

The Doctor said that Fern was allowed to do whatever she wanted, him, Rose and Jack would follow along in anything she wanted to do. Fern excitedly said that she wanted to go to the park.

The Doctor and Rose sat on a bench not to far away, watching Fern have fun with Jack chuckling along.

"As you wish your majesty." Jack chuckled out, doing as Fern wished. She yelped in surprise which was quickly replaced with laughter.

"Doctor," Rose said, "do we have to leave her?"

"It's the only way to keep her safe. Maybe we'll come back every Christmas to see her." The Doctor said.

"It won't be the same. We can't just leave her." Rose adjusted herself on the bench so she was facing the Doctor better. "Who'd take care of her?"

The Doctor looked at Rose with a pained expression.

"We're going to have to leave her at an orphanage."

"But Doctor-"

"I'm sorry, but it's the only choice, we'll be watching too. She won't be alone, no matter how lonely she is."

"But, she won't know we're there. . .will she?"

"No, she won't. She won't know that we're there. We'll just be watching over her."

"Doctor, I'm not sure-"

"Rose, it doesn't matter. I'm going to do it anyway, I'm not going to make her live a life on the run."

"But you'd rather have her live a life of depression, knowing that the two people that cared about her so much left her?"

"Sadly, yes."

"Doctor!"

"I can't do anything about it, I already made up my mind."

"Doctor we ca-"

"I'm sorry Rose, I truly am." Rose huffed and wiped her eyes. She had started to cry through the argument, the mere thought of what they were arguing about making her heart wrench. Rose turned back and watched Fern giggle away as Jack pushed her on the swing. When she did, she noticed they weren't on the swing anymore, in fact, they were no where to be seen.

"Doctor," Rose said, grabbing the Doctor's arm, "they're gone." Upon hearing this, the Doctor shot up from the bench and began looking around frantically.

"Fern?!" The Doctor yelled.

"Doctor, where are all the other people?" The Doctor looked around and saw that the playground was empty too, every child and adult were gone. They heard groaning and someone sat up. It was Jack.

"Jack! Where's Fern?" Rose said, pulling the Doctor with her as they ran up to him. He was right by the swings where he was earlier.

"I-I don't know! All I remember is pushing Fern on the swing." He said staggering to his feet.

"We have to find her!" The Doctor said.

"And the rest of the people."

"Yeah, them too."

"Let's go then!" Rose said interrupting them.

"But Rose," The Doctor said, "we have no idea where they are, or what we're up against. All we know is that everyone is missing except for you, Rose and I."

"I think I remember something. . ." Jack muttered.

"What is it then?!" Rose exclaimed.

"Before I blacked out, or 'died'- I can never really tell the difference- I remember something like, I was transported somewhere,"

"Did anything happen before that?" The Doctor asked.

"Yeah, I think something that felt like stone poke me or something like that."

"How'd you get back here if you were transported somewhere else?" Rose asked.

"I think I used my Vortex Manipulator to get back, I may have blacked out or 'died' when I got back though."

"So something like stone, transported you to a different place, you got back due to your Vortex Manipulator, you most likely hit your head when you got back, causing you to black out, not 'die'." The Doctor said, summing up everything.

"Alright, so, what're we up against?" Jack asked.

"I have no idea."
