Going up the stairs and all across the floor, a pair of shoes is accompanied by red heels, a pair of jeans, and a few inches away a skirt, two shirts, and a bra make a trail that leads towards the bedroom door where boxer briefs can be seen flying out.

Everything goes dark, after a few seconds the lights go back on, and there, lying in bed are two naked bodies, a woman and a man, as the woman turns she drags the sheets leaving him completely exposed, the airbrushes against his skin waking him from his slumber. As he starts to open his eyes he can feel the pulsing sensation of being watched. He starts to open his eyes and the woman is staring deep into them as she playfully strokes him, his eyes go wide, and he pushes her hand off of him and falls off of the bed

"What the hell are you doing here?" He screams

The woman stands at the end of the bed
"Well, that's offensive, after the night we had, that's how you say good morning? No wonder you're single"

...

Sitting in the living room, everyone stares straight at the tv screen as Kyle lets out a sniff

"Tatiana, what the hell? I thought you said this was a good movie."

Tatiana moves forward to look at him blocking the view from the others "Well, it is, there is sex, drama, and drunk hookups, what else can you want?"

Malcolm lets out a groan "Guys shut up"

"Ok, wow, um, so, he is enjoying it"
Kyle said in a murmur that everyone hears as Tatiana looks to him "Off curse he is, it's a good movie"

"RIIIING, RIIIIIING, RIIIIING" All of their phones start ringing together

Samantha leans forward, grabs the remote control, and puts the movie on pause
"Guys, there's been an accident near the bridge, we are needed at the hospital"

Kyle jumps off of the couch and stretches his arms over his head "Ugh, perfect, now we don't have to watch this crap"

The rest of his friends stand from the couch, turn the tv off, grab their belongings and head out the door.

Fifteen minutes later

As they walk through the hospital's lobby, they get their temperature taken and head straight to the ER. As they start to put on their gowns an ER Doctor approaches them "Malcolm your with me, Samantha and Kyle I want the two of you at the ambulance bay"

Kyle and Samantha look to one another and head outside, a pair of ambulances come to a stop and the back doors fly open "What do we get?" Asks one of the residents on call

Inside one of the ambulances, a Paramedic stands and pushes the gurney out "35 years old female suffering from shortness of breath, hypotensive, and delirious"

From the other ambulance, another paramedic follows "16-year-old male, open wound to the skull, pupils fully dilated, suspected of major hemorrhage"

Kyle pulls the gurney with the 16-year-old towards the ER entrance

"Someone paige Neuro" Shouts one of the residents

Kyle proceeds to put two of his fingers on the patient's neck "Doctor I don't feel a pulse"

To which the resident responds "Alright let's start compression, and push one ml of the epi"

Kyle follows the instruction and after five cycles he looks back at the resident as he changes positions with another nurse "There still no pulse"

They continue giving CPR as the minutes keep passing, and like that, 30 minutes go by. An ER Doctor enters the room "How long have you been at it?" The doctor asks

"45 minutes" Replies the resident

"Let's call it, we don't have time to spare there is another emergency coming in"

The Resident looks at him as Kyle stops compressing the 16-year-old patient's chest, everyone stands in silence waiting for someone to call it, the doctor claps his hands

"The hospital is overrun with patients, I cannot have my staff wasting time on someone already dead, call it and get on to the next patient"

The resident looks at the nurses and calls it
"Time of death 20:36"

Kyle takes off his gloves, washes his hands, and walks to the nurse's station with a clipboard in hand.

Five months earlier:

March 4, 2020
Barranquitas, Puerto Rico

Sitting in the middle of the couch, right at the border almost falling off of it, he bends over and starts shaking his legs.

The wait has been long, the results are in, the stress levels are in high mode, everyone waits impatiently to see the answer:

AND THE NEW BACHELORETTE IS...

At that exact moment, the phone rings and he groans before answering "Hello"

"Hi, yes, with Kyle Sandoval please," Says a woman on the other end of the line

"This is him speaking how may I help?"

"Ah great, hi, Kyle, I'm calling from Heartland Hospital in Rochester New York, we've reviewed your application and after your interview, we believe you would be a perfect fit for our team. The job position we have available is as a Graduate Registered Nurse from 7 pm to 7 am in our emergency department and we believe you would be a great addition to our team." She replies

"Umm, I'm sorry, I, I got the job?"

"Yes, you got the job, and should you want the position we would email you the contract, regulations, salary, and rules of our hospital, also, we would offer you a sign-on bonus, provided you stay with us for two years. Now, what do you say? Would you like to join our team and become a part of the Heartland Hospital Family and community?" She replies with an overly excited tone

"Oh my, yes! I would love to" He says filled with excitement as he throws his hands over his head

"Perfect, once you receive the contract please contact me through my phone number, is the one listed on your screen, so we can discuss the sign-in bonus and negotiate should finally decide to take the job."

"Of course, I'll contact you soon" He replies

"Great, you have a nice day"

"Likewise"

As he hangs up the phone, he stands from the couch and begins pacing around his house. He looks at his cat, who stares at him from the couch as if wondering what the weird human was up to.

He finally catches his breath; realizing what this meant he starts jumping up and down letting the excitement take over him.

After a few minutes of celebration and falling out of breath, he reaches for the phone and dials but no one picks up, but, as he's about to hang up, the person he called picks up the phone and he immediately goes shouting:

"THEY CALLED ME FROM NEW YORK THE JOB IS MIIIIINNEEEEE!!"

Five years later

Rochester, New York

Malcolm stand with his arms crossed over his chest

"I don't think you truly understand the severity of it all"

"What is there to understand, we are both grown adults and the truth is we don't need your permission to do anything" Replies Tatiana copying his posture

Malcolm drops his hands to his side making a clapping sound as he hits his thighs "You know she likes you right" He says

"You do know I'm a single woman who doesn't owe anyone any explanations right?" She replies with an angry tone and before she can continue Kyle interrupts them

"OK, BOTH OF YOU, THAT'S ENOUGH"

"As death comes to life, without warning, nor care, it can come for friendships, for one mistake can cost you everything. And the thing that breaks today, may not be so easily fixed tomorrow"
