37. The Battle For Freedom.

Selena's POV:

"ATTACK!"

And that is when we all move forward. That is when we open our wings, and charge to claw out our enemies. That is when we fly in the sky.

A sudden change occured in the number of enemies, and I instantly realized how. They really had this pre-planned. Some people (I can't be sure if they are Wantors) that were hiding in the bushes and trees took out a bit of the opposing team. The two Baundors got confused, seeing their own being shot and dying, their supporters being outnumbered. I seriously don't know how the two knuckleheads did it, but their soldiers turned their backs on them and fought for us. This was not the time to think about how they did it, but I was anyway. With fighting others and moving to the two beasts, of course. I had challenged them, and they certainly can't chicken away from this. Talons: 1, Enemy: 0.

Of course, those two lovebirds were trying to get out from this situation and flee, like a few, but they can't, and they knew why. I ran to them, trying to get them on to their knees. Contemplating whether to flee, or fight wasn't the best thing they were doing. How did I know? Easy, their faces explained their cowardice.

"Debating on running or fighting, aren't you?"

I punched Catherine but she dodged it.

"I'm not like you, silly child."

We constantly kept fighting. I punched her on her face, but she blocked it. I then, tried kicking her legs, but she jumped out of the way. Swift move. I twisted her fist and pushed her by my back, spinning and kicking. She fell down and tried to kick me, but I blocked it. I sensed someone coming from behind me, so I elbowed him. Yep, that was Wilson. The fight was now one against two. Now, I realized how tough was it to fight both of them together. Good thing they were unarmed. Or not. Wilson took out his knife and pointed it towards my neck, holding both my hands tightly against me.

"Flee, my love."
"What about you?"
"Just go, I'll take this Talon down."

She nodded and ran. I took the chance and spun, kneeing him where the sun doesn't shine. He was ultimately shocked. Heh, this should be obvious to him that I'm not one to back out. Grinning in victory, I kept punching and kicking him till his nose broke and he fell down. One down, one to go.

I spotted Catherine nearby, pushing the crowd, making herself a way to scram. Jeez, doesn't that woman have anything except licking lollipops and chickening away? Oh well. I got near to her and kicked her on the right side of her stomach. Instantly, she fell down.

"You know, when the enemy is near, you should keep your guard up."

She stood up to fight back. I swept my foot, trying to make her fall. She jumped and kicked me. I moved to the side and elbowed her on her nose. Ooh, that's gotta hurt. Can someone tell me why exactly am I enjoying it? Nevermind, I got the answer. I flipped over her shoulders, kicking her on her back and knocking her down. She was trying to stand up and was failing badly. Yee haw!

"So, Lady Catherine? Enjoying the view down there? It's not so good, isn't it?"

Here comes the snarkiest remark. Oops, there is an evil grin on her bitchy lips. Something's not right.

"You'll get to enjoy it, I finished enjoying it."

Just after those words got out of her mouth, I felt a stab on my lower abdomen. Coughing up blood, I turned around to be punched by Wilson. My vision was getting blur as every second went by. This can't go on much longer. I can't go on much longer, but I have to try. I think I said that too early. A foot stamped on my back. I felt blades cutting my legs, my back, my whole body. He made a good move. I'm loosing enough of my blood. This is his trick. If I keep loosing it, I'll be knocked out. Probably die. Those cuts were too deep. The red liquid that keeps humans alive was gushing down my body. Keep up, Selena. Don't give in. It's now or never. Fight back!

"She won't stand up, if she isn't stupid. Lay down, Talon. That's better for you."

At a distance, someone was calling my name. Either I was not in my senses, but I felt like Jacob was coming here. I tried to move, but I was only able to move my hand.

"Don't, Jake. Run."

A mere whisper can't be heard by someone running to help. I can't do anything to save him now, to save them. I started this war, and I have to end it. I must.

"Get up, Selena. Get up!"

'I'm trying, you idiot. I'm trying,' that's what I want to say, but my head was slammed into the sand. Coughing both sand and blood, I sat up, pushing Wilson away from me. I barely stood up, falling once then maintaining my balance. I got into my fighting stance and charged. He was still stunned to see me up. That's what with these people. They brutally hurt people and expect them to lay on the ground. Taking advantage of the situation, I managed to kick him on the nose. He flew back, hitting the tree. I knocked him unconscious.

Turning around, my eyes made contact to Jacob's. His face was shining with proudness.

"Watch out!"

Before he could process what I said, Catherine stabbed him. On his right side of his stomach. He fell down on his knees, clutching his side. He's never been stabbed. Not even once in his life. It's not like I stalk him, I just know. Catherine grinned evilly, then cackled like a witch. I can't take this anymore. She hurt my friend. She hurt the one who showed me what life is. She hurt the one who cleared my view of this world. She hurt the one with whom I shared my darkest secrets. She hurt him, my best friend, my first love. I can't think of anything but killing her. I can't kill any one. I can't kill, but I surely will kill this one. At any cost.

Not being conscious of my current situation, I took the nearest weapon I found. Knife. Memories were playing in front of my eyes. Memories of us hanging out. Memories of us fighting. Memories of us sharing our sorrows. It was not long that I dodged Catherine's fist and stabbed her, on her heart. Her eyes were wide on my comeback. For the first time in my life, I saw fear flashing in her eyes. She was not the one to fear. Sure she was a cocky bitch, but she never got afraid.

This day, before my eyes, I see Catherine dead, her lifeless body lying in her own pool of blood. Who killed her? Me. I killed her. No, no, no, no! I killed her! I just killed her! I killed someone. No only someone, but Catherine. God, this is traumatizing.

I couldn't process what was happening. I was feeling dizzy. This was too much for me. I can't handle it. I killed someone. Someone who might had a person loving her. Someone who might have a family. I heard someone screeching my name and then I blacked out.
