26. Dance Lessons.

Jacob's POV:

After the silliest proposal in the history of proposals, maybe it was normal, she accepted it and when I complimented her on her hair, she started mumbling like I do. Except I do it mentally. She looks so cute while doing that. I could just hug her when she blushed furiously. It's good that I have that effect on her, not that I don't have it on others. Anyways, back to the present.

"May I have this dance?"
"Uh-

She was puzzled at my sudden outburst. And- no way in hell! She was trembling from head to toe.

"Um- uh- w-what if I say no?"
"I'll persist you."
"Uh, look. The problem is-
"You can't dance."

That should come out as a question. Instead, it came out as a statement. I can't believe it. It's impossible. She can't dance. SHE CAN'T DANCE?!

"Yeah. Laugh as much as you want. I can't dance. The infamous Selena Lockhart who is the master in everything can't dance! I can't, okay? I don't know how! I've never danced in my whole damn life!"

She kept yelling at me like I was a toddler who was caught stealing a cookie from a jar. After peering at me and realizing that I didn't laugh, she stopped.

"What?"

It was merely a whisper. She gave me an apologetic look. I scoffed.

"You thought I'd laugh. Well, I did not. Of course it's shocking that you can't, but you've never danced in your life. A bit sucking if you ask me. Since you are an anti social woman who loves to beat the crap out of people who mess around you, it's nothing. Don't give me that look, it's amusing."

She stood still and looked at me with no expression on her face.

"But now, you've chosen to socialize and want to dance with your date who is a dense idiot like me-
"Who is none other than you."
"Whatever. He is here to teach you how to dance in these galas."
"You will teach me how to dance? You? Well, this is going to be interesting."

She gave me a smug look. I mocked my brow. She shuddered. I grinned. We both stared at each other for what was like centuries.

"Ah, I give up."
"Woohoo! I won! So I'm going to teach you!"

She shook her head and smiled lightly.

"Where should we start?"
"From the crowns?"
"Oh, yeah. Right."
"You go first."

She placed the crown on my head.

"Done. You look good."
"As always."
"Show off."

She scoffed and bowed her head. I carefully placed the tiara on her head. It was a silver tiara made up of plastic and it was decorated with fake white and red roses. She raised her head and smiled. God, I could kiss her right now. Whoa, buddy. Calm down. Now's not the time.

"Ready?"
"Ready."
"Here we go. First of all, you place your left hand on the shoulder of your partner and the other hand should be intertwined in his'."
"Careful, Jake. I'm not a big fan of being this close."

She placed her hand on my shoulders while I slung my arm around her waist. Our free hand was intertwined.

"I know you are not. Trust me, I'm not going to push you."

She turned her face towards the other side. I still kept my eyes on her.

"Next step, feel the music, it's beats. Close your eyes first."

She did exactly what I asked her to. She closed her eyes and let out deep breaths.

"This feels good."
"Okay, now, as I move my foot back, you put it forward. Do it three times then twirl. Repeat the process until I make my move."
"Make your move?"
"Watch and learn, Sells. Watch and learn."

She moved with me and twirled. While she was twirling, she stepped on my shoe and moved away, my grip being released from her waist.

"Ow."
"I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry."
"It's okay, don't worry."

We again held on to each other and did it again. She twirled and repeated the process. She was about to twirl again but I caught her and we swirled together, she in the air and in my arms. When I put her on the floor, her bun loosened and her hair fell on her face.

"Oh."
"I'm-
"Whoa, whoa. It's okay. Besides, it was irritating me."

She unpinned her bun and started unbraiding the thin braids that now hung loosely against her face.

"What are you doing?"
"Letting them loose."
"Won't you be uncomfortable?"
"No. I'm tired of this bun. I'll just let them loose."

She messed her hair and brushed it to her right side by her fingers. Her hair, when loose looked like flames burning in the bonfire. Her shampoo was radiating a pleasant scent. And, I would like to include the fact that she looked hot. No, wrong choice of words, she looked extremely attractive.

"Close your mouth, lover boy."

I shook my head to stop daydreaming.

"I'm sorry. It's just- you look-
"Different? I know. You guys have never seen me when my hair are loose."
"Seems like you're now the center of attention."

She looked around and saw that many eyes were on her. Some still kept turning to her.

"Correction. We are now the center of attention."
"Why don't we give them the show, then?"
"You're so on."

We again danced together. She smiled and laughed between our twirling, causing me to cherish the moment even more.

"This is fun! Remind we why I never did it!"
"You dance like a professional!"

When the song almost ended, I slowly brought her into dip. Her blue eyes met mine, and mine never left her for a single second. I was lost, lost in the deep blue ocean. The ocean that had every emotion floating in it. I was glad that she was finally happy. Finally moving on to the next chapter of her life. I winked and she blushed, biting her lip. This was the perfect moment. It's was time for me to confess. Should I or should I not?

We came back to earth when we heard a whistle and a hoot.

"What a show!"
"I just died."

Lilac wiped a fake tear from her eye while Nathan kept whistling, their hands still linked.

"Wow. What happened?"
"Apparently the song finished and you guys were about to kiss."

Lilac replied in a 'duh' tone.

"Ew."

Selena scratched her nose in disgust.

"Don't think like that unless you do it."
"That would be- WHAT! YOU GUYS-

Nathan covered her mouth with his hands.

"Shh, you don't want to spread the rumors and gossips about me and my girlfriend."
"You don't need to whisper in her ear, Nate. We can hear you. Lilac, stop blushing, it's official now. We know you mean that you guys don't want your relationship to be the breaking news."

Nathan mocked his brow and we had an intense staring competition. As always, I won. He groaned and Selena twisted his hand, causing him to grunt in pain. We laughed together.

"I know you want the details, Selena. I'll give them to you later. The next song is about to start. See ya!"

Lilac grabbed him by his collar and disappeared in the crowd.

"May I?"

I asked her, being sober.

"You may."

And we started dancing again.
