2025 - Safe Harbour

A/N: I'm trying something different. Italics are for black room interviews. Enjoy!

2025

Jungkook was still staring at the beautiful lighthouse. Memories flashing before him. Except for the outhouse at its side and the fenced patio near the edge of the cliff, the lighthouse stayed pretty much the same from the outside.

He was happy to see that the place had been maintained well over the years. He looked at Lisa and mouthed an I love you. She smiled and held out her hand, together they entered the lighthouse that had once been their haven.

• JK •

Seven years is a long time and I can't believe that the same place is still as breathtaking as I remember.

We went there at a time when our lives had been upheaved by rumours about Mina and I. I can't deny that I had felt nervous. Not because of the reactions from netizens but more about what Lisa would think about the pictures. When I had called her, she didn't even ask about why we had been together. She had given me her explicit trust and... this sounds so cheesy, but I fell for her even more. She had given me the strength I needed to the face issue.

The whole trip was unplanned but we still had the best time. It was after all the first vacation we went to as a couple and exactly why this place would always remain special to us.

• • •

They had spent the afternoon reacquainting themselves with the place, cameras in hand.

They rested and talked at the new patio, blasted on some music through Jungkook's bluetooth speaker. They shared some of their memories from the Lantern festival, which means they were once again acting like crackheads. Despite being in their late twenties, everyone there found them silly but adorable.

They decided to visit the small beach cove at the bottom of the cliff with hands intertwined and feet bare. They played in the water, getting wet up to their calves and occasionally threatening to push the other into the water. Empty threats as they never did.

"Jagiya~" Lisa called her husband, prolonging the last syllable.

Jungkook, who had been busy taking some shots, looked at his wife acting cute. His gut told him that she was up to something. "No."

"Waeyo? I didn't even say anything yet." She pouted and looked at him with those doe eyes of hers.

He shook his head. He may not know the specifics but that look she has spelled trouble.

"Come on Kookie. It's nothing bad. I promise." Now she had her hands clasped together while looking at him. It's a deathly combination, one that weakened his resolve.

Jungkook didn't know why he even tries to resist when he would give in this easily.

"Fine. Let's hear it. If it's dangerous then I'm saying no Lali."

Lisa pumped her hand in victory. She scrolled through her phone's album until she got to the photo she was looking for.

"Let's try this, jeabal."

Jungkook looked at the photo and his eyes widened at what he saw.

"Yah! What if you fall and hurt yourself?"

Lisa only laughed as if he was the crazy and speaking nonsense. "Your being absurd. As if you'll ever let me fall."

Then the woman had the audacity to wink at him.

JK

That girl is crazy. Legit crazy sometimes. I've seen her looking at videos where they mimic epic couple shots. Some were really cheesy and she did ask me once to do it with her. Now I regret saying no to her then. Now that she's into yoga, look at what kind of poses she's thinking of doing!

• • •

Jungkook sighed as he sat down on the soft sand with knees bent at a triangle.

"Alright how do we do this?"

Maybe he was the crazy one for agreeing. If it was anyone else, he would have outright refused even without the kissing part.

But this is Lisa were talking about. Lisa was capable, she got this. And in case she didn't, he would never let her get hurt. He would be there to catch her at even the slightest sign of imbalance.

Lisa gave one of the camera director her phone and asked him to take the shot.

"Alright let's get it. And kids, don't ever do this at home." She belatedly remembered to warn their audience.

Lisa was behind Jungkook, her head upside down and facing his. Both of her hands were on his shoulder as his was on hers. She lifted herself up into a handstand and within one attempt, they perfectly reproduced the pose.

"I really prefer Ironman over Spiderman." Jungkook muttered then kissed Lisa on the lips just like in the photo.

They heard the continuous burst of clicking from her phone.

After a few seconds, he unlocked their lips. "Hmmm. Maybe Spiderman isn't so bad after all."

"Careful doll." Jungkook reminded her as she slowly made her way back on the ground behind him. For a slight moment his whole body stiffened, strengthening his grip on her when he felt the sand on his right side sink unevenly as she went down.

He internally sighed in relief when she made it safely back on her feet. Jungkook stood up and removed the sand that stuck on his butt. Lisa thanked the camera director and look at the photos.

"Hmmm. Jagiya look." She said as she scrolled through the shots. "The lighting is kind of iffy, maybe we should—"

"No Lalisa. That was enough for today." She pouted at his firm voice.

"The sand is too soft and messes with our balance. It's dangerous love." She knew this time that he couldn't be coaxed into giving in.

"Fine. Fine."

Jungkook gently brought her head to rest on his chest. "Please doll, no more of those poses without a teacher around."

She nodded and Jungkook kissed her forehead at her promise. Lisa knew she lost this one.

After ten? Nine years? You find that you can't always have it your way. Remaining stubborn would only hurt both parties. Marriage, dating, it's a constant bout of compromise.

It's really good advice and sometimes very hard to follow, but if you want it to work between you two then you really have no choice but to give in or meet halfway.

When purple and dark blue streaked the white blue skies, the couple retired inside the lighthouse.

The first thing they noticed was the wall. It was far from the sparsely decorated wall of their memory. A large cork board hung between the kitchen counter and the dining table. Photos, messages, even handcrafted items were pinned randomly on the board. Jungkook rightly concluded that they were from the previous guests.

Nautical themed knick knacks were replaced with framed photos scattered around the dining area, all of them sceneries of the town.

"Bet Taehyung-hyung would enjoy these."

Jungkook stopped at one particular frame. He looked closely at the two photos that were framed side by side and gaped in shock.

"Daebak! Yah Lali, isn't these your shots?" He turned his head to Lisa, pointing at the pictures excitedly.

"Hmmm?" Lisa walked to where he was, curious at what he was talking about. "Oh! Ahjumma asked for some photos years ago and I sent her some. She never mentioned what it was for. It's my first time seeing it."

He pecked her on the lips and grabbed his phone from his back pocket. "This is awesome doll. Come on, let me take a photo of you beside it."

JK

My jagi's talent exposed for seven years and I never knew it! I heard from one of the PDs that a lot of guests have asked over the years who the photographer is. Some even attempted to buy it.

I'm proud of her. She's been taking photos for years and I've been telling her to share them with others. An exhibition of sorts you know? But she's stubborn that one. Maybe it's time for me to try persuading her again.

• • •

Jungkook asked the camera man to zoom in. The photo was of the lantern festival. The same lantern festival that they attended seven years ago.

He pointed at a heart shaped lantern, the one they had released together. "Yorobun, you see this? It's ours. I'll tell you a little secret. It isn't noticeable unless you look for it, but these two photos actually show two different sides of our lantern with our messages for each other."

JK •

Never let go of us. That was the message Lisa left for me before she hurriedly escaped to get some drinks. My heart twisted when I saw that. I knew then how deep her fears have become to write it. You have to understand, Lisa has this tendency to over think. A lot. Her brain just whirls scenarios that some couldn't even perceive happening. She would have made a damn good writer with that imagination of hers.

But my wife was quite silly don't you think? She doesn't realise that no man in his right mind would ever let go of her given the chance. I was just the lucky man that she entrusted her love to. And I'm certainly no fool who would waste that. So I didn't have to think much of my answer because it did not, even once, cross my mind that letting go of her an option in whatever problems we would face in the future.

Lisa started preparing for dinner while Jungkook went through the pictures and videos they had taken that afternoon.

She could hear occasional murmurs of approval and also some rare tsks for shots that were not usable.

She was cutting up some vegetables when she realised that it was quiet. Too quiet.

She then heard her curious husband hovering around the kitchen trying to catch sight of what she was preparing.

Unable to concentrate, Lisa turned around and gestured for him to sit down. "No way Mister. Sit far far away from here."

Jungkook made a show of doing a very good rendition of a kicked puppy that had her laughing and shaking her head in exasperation.

She checked her progress and was satisfied that she was done with the prep. All that's left was the actual cooking, but she can't do that with a bored husband who would just find ways to peak.

She made her way to the table and opened the black bag beside Jungkook. She took out a laptop, headphone and a mini mic. Lisa thought up of the perfect plan to keep her husband distracted while she finish up her cooking.

"Remember when we edited the video for the festival?"

• LISA •

The ahjumma who had graciously given us a place to stay was adamant in not receiving anything in exchange. Of course we can't let that happen. Our time at the lighthouse had become a safe harbour, no matter how short it was.

I was the one who suggested to make a GCF of our trip, focusing on the lantern festival and the lighthouse. Of course Koookie was all for it. He and I took so much footage on the second day. [laughs] But most of his films had me or both of us on it so a lot of them didn't make the cut when we started editing.

The video, we had not intended for it, actually helped burying the dating rumours as it got so much attention from travel blogs and the media. We even got a call from ahjumma that she received a lot of inquiries from tourists because of it. A year later, we heard that the lantern festival was flocked with tourists and even featured in one of the popular travel shows on TV.

• • •

"We had titled the video Paradise Pt 1, so I was thinking maybe we can finally work on Pt 2."

They had intended to release a part two during the reveal of their relationship to the public. But between their group activities and planning their wedding, they had completely forgotten about the plan.

"Sure. I think I put the clips I had wanted to use in a separate folder somewhere. We could even use some of the shots we got today. Do you have ideas for the music?"

Lisa grinned at his question. She opened a file and played the background music they had used on the first video. "Maybe we could use this again but change it up or add some lyrics?"

It was their first attempt at producing something together. It only had beats mixed with synths and some bass.

Since going to town had not become an option after the festival, they had spent their second day playing with different beats and notes, taking photos or videos, or just innocently cuddling that most of the time led to something not so innocent.

• JK •

I remember this one. When I had uploaded the video a lot of my fans wondered about my choice of music. I didn't want to say I did it alone but I couldn't exactly say Lisa and I produced it together, so I let them assume whatever. [peace sign] Sorry ARMYs!

• • •

"I'll start with the melody and maybe think up some lyrics while you cook. Let's see if we need to change something with what I'll come up with".

Lisa clapped her hand. "Perfect. I'll cook while you do that. If you need to consult me with something, just holler." She kissed his cheek and got back to her cooking.

In the forty minutes it took her to prepare the food, Jungkook would sometimes ask her if this line was good or not. She of course shared her honest input and suggested some lines of her own.

Dinner was simple and reminiscent to what she had attempted to cook for him seven years ago— vegetarian bibimbap, bulgogi and fish cake soup.

She put on the finishing touches and set the dishes on the tray. She had every intention to carry it but Jungkook beat her to it. She laughed as she didn't even hear him near her.

He placed their dinner at the adjacent table where he had set his equipment.

As usual, the couple chose to sit side by side instead of opposite each other. And just as Lisa predicted— "Well this is certainly an improvement," her husband teased.

• JK •

Her first attempt to cook me a meal me, the bulgogi was bland, the soup too salty and the bibimbap just didn't taste like it should. She even burned the egg. [chuckle] Still I ate it for the simple reason that she made it for me. I tried my best not to show any reaction but she knew me too well. She was the one who stopped me eating after she tasted it herself. [laughs] We ended up eating ramyeon that night but it was okay, I didn't really mind.

But that was years ago. This Lalisa is far from the girl who burned a simple sunny side up egg. My lovely wife, if she sets her mind to it, there is no doubt that she'll excel in whatever it is. She became really good at cooking once she learned what to do and what not to do. She prefers baking though, so when we cook together I mostly do the main dishes and she does the desserts. Breakfast is always a treat at home because she makes all kinds of bread and fills them up with something different. But that doesn't mean her savory dishes aren't tasty because they are! And I'm not saying this only because I'm her husband. My favourite is her homemade pizza. She makes it from scratch and even came up with her own sauce. I always ask her to teach me but she never budges. Aish!

• LISA •

The world has evolved a lot and wives are no longer expected to cook for their husband. But I always had this image of Jungkook sitting at our dining table waiting for me, hands covered in mitts, to serve him something I cooked on my own. Some people may see it in a bad way or what but the image stuck and when he asked me to marry him, I wanted that image to be a reality especially after my disastrous attempt during our time at the lighthouse. Even just one time no matter how basic the recipe was, I wanted to make him something tasty.

I admit I sucked at first but I learned. I remember cooking something that was passably good for the first time. Jungkook actually looked proud of me. He made a show of cleaning his whole bowl, his face radiating with satisfaction from the food I made. In that moment I understood why my dad loves cooking so much and that made me continue my lessons, improving every chance I get.

The sauce? I don't tell him how to make it because I don't want anyone else other than me to make his favourite food. Maybe it's selfish of me but I love seeing his eyes light up when he realises I've cooked him his pizza.

• • •

"Hahaha. If you keep up that attitude Jeon, you'll be saying goodbye to your dessert for tonight. It's your favorite dessert too." Lisa threatened, hoping she had pulled off looking stern.

He slowly leaned in until their face were mere inches from each other. Everyone in the room held their breath, feeling the obvious tension between the two.

Jungkook tilted her chin and smirked, making Lisa anxious because she knew that look. It was the look that says whatever would happen next won't be appropriate for broadcast.

Not looking away Jungkook took her left hand and held it in between them, playing with her wedding band. He leaned in until his lips were near her ear and whispered low enough that nobody but Lisa would hear him, "but the wedding ring says otherwise doll."

Lisa shivered at his husky voice, his satoori completely wrecking her inside.

Jungkook winked and proceeded to mix his bibimbap leaving everyone in the room wondering what caused Lisa to flush bright red.

• Lisa •

Everyone who thought Bangtan's golden maknae an innocent bunny has been living a lie. Jeon Jungkook is the biggest flirt I know.

• JK •

She said that, really? Hah! She acts as if she doesn't like it. Please, I know for a fact she loves it because I'm only ever like that with her.

Lalisa baby stop the pretence, you know your just as bad as I am. [smirks]

Dessert, the edible kind, was a chocolate cheesecake Lisa had baked earlier in the day. Paired with a cup of freshly brewed coffee, they continued revamping their old song while simultaneously adding in clips just to see if it would fit well.

When the clock chimed eleven, they had called it a night. Lisa had booked the whole place for them. The crew would be occupying the second and third floors while she and Jungkook would reacquaint themselves with their old love nest.

Jungkook led Lisa up to the highest floor. Turning the knob, a camera man followed them inside getting a shot of its unique interior.

He noticed more changes here and Jungkook got curious on how the other bedrooms had changed too.

The wall had been repainted to a soft ivory, the bathroom remained open and stark with it's natural varnished walls and floors. The floor of the bedroom had been changed to wood, a lighter shade compared to the bathroom. A large white furry carpet lay between the bed the balcony doors.

Jungkook took his shoes off and sampled the fluffiness of the new addition. "Hey babe, you'll really like this."

It was unbelievably soft, just the kind of carpet they had been looking for for their home.

Lisa followed her husband to test out the carpet. Her smile lit up her whole face. "Love this is perfect! We should ask ahjumma first thing in the morning where she got this."

Jungkook nodded his agreement. He took his wife's hand and led them to the balcony.

"Ahh this is better. We can stay longer out here unlike the last time."

Jungkook sat down and Lisa made her way to the opposite seat but couldn't go any further as her husband wasn't letting go of her hand.

She looked back at him and stared meaningfully at their clasped hands. Jungkook shook his head and pulled Lisa on his lap. She fell on him ungracefully but Jungkook managed to catch her and sat her down properly on his lap.

"Yah yah yah! People are gonna stone us for being cringey as heck if we continue doing this."

He fake gasps at this. "You take that back missy. That is blasphemy Lalisa. We are never not doing this even when I get old and have athritis."

Lisa's melodic laugh rang around the quiet surrounding. She made herself comfortable, leaning back on her husband and let him burrow his nose in her neck just like every night since she could remember.

• LISA •

Jungkook, my husband, is the definition of a cuddle bunny. He hadn't shown that side of him when we were just friends. He would hug me, kiss my forehead and put his arms around my shoulder but never for a long time except of course when he was comforting me.

I expected myself to be the clingy one in our relationship and even talked myself into reigning it in. Boy did that change when we started dating. [laugh] Every chance he could get he cuddles with me. He just loves burrowing his nose on my neck.

Maybe it's because of the inevitable separation caused by our career that when we do see each other we just want to be close as possible. It has become a nightly ritual for us. We would cuddle together before we sleep, sometimes we talk, sometimes we just do our own thing with some gadget or what. I love it though. It's comfortable having him near me, enveloping me in his warmth.

• JK •

You ask why I love burrowing my face on her neck? [shrugs] She could spray whatever perfume or cologne but if I burrow deeper, I can smell her natural scent, I smell my Lalisa. I don't know how to describe it other than it smells like home. My home.
