In recent days, I have been researching and seriously considering the publication of "Star Fox: Eclipse." This may seem sudden to many of my readers because the novel is not even finished here on Wattpad. Well, as I have mentioned before, I am already finished with the book, and have been making my last set of brother/self-edits before the final manuscript is "complete," before posting each chapter here. This whole publishing craze started once I received my copyright certificate from the U.S. Copyright Office, and after finding my first offer in the mail last week.

I started writing Eclipse over a year ago, and finished the first full draft in only a couple months. I have been editing it on and off ever since, with my brother and I reading over the entire manuscript at least 3-5 times. From the beginning, this was just a story created from my mind, but I have always had the hopes of taking it beyond the world of Wattpad and Fanfiction.net. I don't want my story to be "just another fanfiction," but something more. If I could, I would have it taken all the way to Nintendo, excepted in Star Fox Canon, and used as the storyline for a game (and also published in book form, as well).

While looking at some pretty decent publishing offers, one major obstacle stands in my way, and that is the entity that has allowed for the creation of my work; Nintendo itself.

I don't know much about publishing books, or about legal matters surrounding fanfiction, but I know that in order to have my book published (and especially if I want to make any profit from it, which I do..), I will have to figure out how the Nintendo company plays into it all. I do not own the rights to Star Fox, or any of the elements therein, and I do not know how that affects me being able to publish my work. I hope that so still can, maybe with permission of Nintendo, or something like that. Somehow I'll have to figure it all out, and once I do, I'll need to hope that Nintendo will allow me to use their characters, etc (if they even have to let me, I think they probably do..) At best, I would like to work with Nintendo to promote their games and characters, and even help them come up with a storyline for a game for Eclipse (since we can all clearly see that they are in desperate need for storyline writers for their Star Fox games..).

So that's the brick wall I'm stuck in front of now. I'll be continuing to do what I can to research, and communicate with publishers about the issue once/if I get to that point. Thanks for listening to my little rant, and if anyone has any knowledge/advice about the issue, let me know!
