Chapter 60: Raziel

"Hello. We would like to meet Mr Rai." Gabrielle spoke to a black-haired young man who was apparently chatting with someone over the phone. Ah! I so envied the young ones. That wasn't right of me to think like that. I was a youth myself! I stood by Gabrielle's side together with Sophiel while thinking about how I have experienced so many things in the past year that I felt all grown up.

"What? Who do you want to meet?" He raised his head and politely asked her to repeat, even though he heard it clearly. Gabrielle frowned a little when she got that response from the receptionist, and she changed her words.

"We want to meet Mr Don."

"Do you have an appointment?"

"No. We don't."

"Then may I know your name and the purpose of your visit?"

"I'm Gabrielle and we are friends of Mr Don."

That receptionist looked at us carefully, as if wondering why we would say such a lie. He didn't appear to think that Mr Don would be friends with people as young as us. I didn't blame him. But even though that young man thought like that, he didn't show his displeasure and was still polite.

"Okay. I will forward your words but there is no guarantee if he would like to greet you."

"Please do."

That young man tried to call Mr Don but Mr Don didn't pick up the phone. Did that mean we will not be able to meet him? I wondered if something had happened that he was not picking up any call. He didn't even pick up Gabrielle's call, and I had no other choice but to come and personally meet him. That young man stood up and pointed towards the chairs by the window.

"Please wait there for a while," he said and walked inside.

"Sigh... He must be new," Gabrielle informed me in a low tone. She sat on the chair and looked outside at other buildings that appeared so small from the fourteenth floor. That view of different buildings and skyscrapers, the huge park at the right and that cloudy weather looked incredible from there. But even that scenic view couldn't lift Gabrielle's mood up.

Gabrielle was down because that red sword broke. I thought that sword could be fixed and repaired because it was just cracked, but its blade broke into little pieces after a few seconds! Sophiel told me that the red sword was the weapon Gabrielle's brother gifted to her on her 'coming of age'. I was surprised to find out that her brother was none other than Michael!

It was a wonder that they were related by blood despite being so opposite. Gabrielle was so nice and polite while her brother was like a bully. Perhaps Michael was adopted by her parents?

Even though I didn't like that guy, but I didn't speak anything bad about him. From their words, it looked like all the angels highly respected him. I felt guilty for unintentionally breaking her treasured stuff, but I had no idea how to fix my mistake. Perhaps I could ask Black to create a copy when he comes back?

That young man came back after a few minutes and asked us to follow him in a very respectful manner. This time, he didn't treat us as liars like before. That young man led the way, and we walked behind him to the fifteenth floor.

When I entered that large hall-like office, I saw an old man sitting on the other side of the table with his head down. His white hair was short, and his beard was well trimmed. That old man appeared to be reading some documents. His eyes were heavy, and it looked like he would fall asleep any second.

"Did something happen Little Gab?" Mr Don asked without raising his head.

"No. I just accompanied someone."

Mr Don raised his head.

"And you are?" He asked while looking at me with those piercing blue eyes. I was about to reply when he spoke again. "Ah. Eve?" Mr Don questioned in a surprised manner and stood up while putting down those documents. He then let out a big smile. I was very surprised myself how he recognized me with a glance, but his next words answered me. "You are exactly like that idiot described."

Finally! Finally, someone agreed with me and called him an idiot! I walked forward and greeted that cheerful old man with a handshake.

"Hello. Nice to meet you."

"I am sorry for the trouble. Please have a seat." There were two chairs in front of the desk, and I sat on the right one.

"Thank you for your hard work. Michael will come here again in a few days. You want to stay around?" Mr Don said to Gabrielle.

"No. We will meet him later." Gabrielle was reluctant, and I knew the reason. They both sat on the grey couch placed at the side.

"Chris."

"Yes?"

"My friends call me Rai. If they come looking for me, don't make them wait. You can directly bring them in."

"I understand."

"Thank you, Chris. You may go now."

That young man named Chris replied with an enlightened expression. He understood why Gabrielle was asking to meet Mr Rai at the reception. But why Rai? As if sensing my questioning gaze, Mr Don then spoke to me.

"My name is Raziel. Don de Jerald is just an alias. Like you have, Angelheart."

"I see."

"Would you like anything?"

"How is he?" I skipped over the formalities and directly asked about my Black. As one of his only three friends, I was confident that he would know about his well being.

"I have no idea." Raziel shook his head with a bitter smile. "I last saw him six months ago when he asked me to send some angels to guard over you in secret. So, I sent little Gab and Sophie. I hope you don't mind it that we did so without your consent. Even though he is my friend, I don't dare to go against his wishes." Raziel truthfully spoke. I don't know how Black can scare his friends like that.

"It is okay. I just visited you because I need to see him urgently."

"We do not have much information upon him. He could be in this city, or perhaps in some other country. No one is skilled enough to keep track of him."

"Is there no chance at all?" I was disappointed. It felt like every door leading to Black was closing. Will I never get a chance to meet him again until he himself comes back? It saddened me how Black might be facing a crisis right now and I was powerless to help him, again.

"I am sorry." Raziel apologised to me.

"If you get to know where he is, can you please tell me?"

"I'll surely do so."

"By the way, do you really owe him money or does he forces you?" I asked. If Black dared lie to me, I would skin him when we meet.

He laughed up. "It's okay. He has helped me numerous times. Money can not make up for it, but if he needs, I have more than enough of it." I heaved a sigh of relief. I was about to get up and go when Raziel stopped me.

"Ah, wait. I remember that he went to Lilith's place a couple of times. Perhaps she would know of something that I do not."

"Lilith?" I didn't expect a familiar name to come up. But why would Black visit her?

"Yeah. She's the only lady that idiot considers as a friend."

"Can I meet her?"

"She is not here. I will send someone to guide you to her place."

"Can you give me her address? I can go there on my own."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah."

Raziel picked up his phone and looked through to find Lilith's address. But then Chris opened the door again.

"Mr Jerald, another friend of yours wants to meet you. She says it's an emergency," Chris told without entering the office.

"What's her name?"

"She told her name was Eth... Something like that."

"Ah, send her in."

A few minutes later, a woman dressed in white clothes entered. Her hair was purplish and straight. Her eyes were sparkling and from her otherworldly appearance, I could confirm that she was an angel too. Yep, angels come in all colours...

"What are you doing here, Athena?" Raziel asked that woman.

"Need a healer. Maria is wounded." That woman spoke up in a plain voice and glanced at me with a confused look. Her face was expressionless. Was that what everyone calls ice beauty?

"What happened?" Raziel asked in a worried tone.

That woman didn't reply to Raziel. She kept looking at me with that cold expression. She clearly didn't want to talk in the presence of others. I was ready to leave both of them alone, but Raziel stopped me.

"You don't need to be vary of her. She is Angelheart." That woman's expressionless face showed a trace of surprise when she heard Raziel, but it soon returned to normal. "And Eve she is Athena."

Athena looked at me carefully. "A mortal? Never expected the famous Angelheart wouldn't even be an angel."

"Hello," I greeted that woman.

"In possession of an item that forbids my ability. Fascinating." At that moment, Athena had the same expression Asmodeus had when she first met me. It felt very disrespectful how she didn't respond to me. I felt like she was intentionally being rude.

"You shouldn't mess with Eve. For all I know, he went on a rampage because some demon touched her."

"Ah. Even love can not conquer that unbridled man." Athena said as she sat on the chair beside me. What the fuck was wrong with this rude woman? Raziel ignored her statement.

"What happened to Maria?"

"We went to observe his battle with the sovereigns at the edge of Gehenna. But he dragged us into that conflict. Azaroth and Maria were heavily injured. He then kidnapped Pandora and flew away." Athena told her story in the same cold tone. I knew the person she was talking about was my Black. Just why was he still fighting with the demons? Why was he injuring angels too? And why did he kidnap Pandora? All kinds of questions popped up in my mind.

"What does that idiot want from Pandora now?" Raziel asked and I looked at Athena for the answer.

"Pandora is back. She said he wanted the box."

Wait. Pandora's box? Was it the same object that stored the memories of my past self? Why did Black want the box when he had it already? Neither of them said a word for a while. Raziel seemed to be pondering upon her words.

"How serious are Maria's injuries?"

"Very..."

"...I guess only Lilith can treat Maria. None others are suitable." Raziel finally responded.

"Send her with me."

"Lilith is not here. She should be at her home."

"Where she is?"

Raziel looked through in his phone to find Lilith's address and then wrote it on the notepad. He passed that slip to me first.

"I hope you can take Athens along with you. She is bad with directions." I didn't want to take that impolite person with me, but I couldn't deny that old man who looked at me with pleading eyes.

"It is okay."

"Then shall we get going? Angelheart."
