🌟 Chapter Twenty Four 🌟

The Truth Revealed

Akshu sat in the quiet of her home, her mind swirling with the events that had just unfolded. She knew what she had done to Abhi was harsh, but she also knew it was necessary. As much as it pained her to hurt him, she had to protect herself, and the only way to do that was to make him believe she had moved on completely.

But the truth was far more complicated.

Ajay walked into the living room, his expression serious as he took a seat beside her. He had been her friend, her confidant, and now, the key player in the charade she had orchestrated to keep Abhi at bay.

“You did what you had to do, Akshu,” Ajay said gently, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “I know it wasn’t easy, but it was the only way to get him to back off.”

Akshu nodded, though her heart felt heavy with guilt. “I know,” she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. “But I hate that I had to hurt him like that. I just couldn’t think of any other way to make him leave me alone.”

Ajay sighed, leaning back on the couch. “Abhi is a determined man. He wasn’t going to give up easily, and you know that. But you had to protect yourself, and if this was the only way to do it, then so be it.”

She looked at Ajay, her eyes filled with gratitude and sadness. “Thank you for going along with this, Ajay. I know it wasn’t fair to drag you into my mess.”

Ajay smiled softly, shaking his head. “We’re friends, Akshu. You needed help, and I was more than willing to be there for you. Besides, you know I’m always here if you need me, but this,” he gestured between them, “was just a show. I hope you know that.”

Akshu nodded, feeling a slight sense of relief. “I know. And I’m grateful for that. I just hope it’s enough to make Abhi leave. I can’t keep reliving the past, and I can’t let him drag me back into it.”

Ajay studied her for a moment, his expression thoughtful. “Do you think he’ll really leave? Or will this make him fight even harder to win you back?”

“I don’t know,” Akshu admitted, her voice trembling slightly. “But I hope he does leave. I can’t go through that pain again, Ajay. I won’t survive it a second time.”

Ajay nodded in understanding, his eyes softening. “Whatever happens, I’m here for you. And remember, you don’t owe anyone anything—especially not Abhi. You’ve made a new life for yourself, and you deserve to live it on your terms.”

Akshu looked at him, her eyes brimming with tears. “Thank you, Ajay. I don’t know what I would’ve done without you.”

Ajay pulled her into a comforting hug, knowing how much she needed the support. “You’re stronger than you think, Akshu. You’ll get through this, no matter what happens.”

As they sat in silence, Akshu’s thoughts drifted back to the look on Abhi’s face when she had introduced Ajay as her husband. The hurt, the disbelief—it had all been too much for her to bear. But she knew that if she didn’t make him believe she had moved on, he would never let her go.

“I had to do it, Ajay,” she whispered, more to herself than to him. “I had to make him believe it was over.”

Ajay pulled back slightly, looking her in the eyes. “And if he doesn’t? If he keeps fighting to win you back?”

Akshu swallowed hard, her resolve wavering for just a moment. “Then I’ll have to find a way to keep him at a distance. But I won’t go back to that life, Ajay. I can’t.”

Ajay nodded, understanding the depth of her fear and determination. “I’ll be here with you every step of the way, Akshu. You’re not alone in this.”

For a moment, Akshu allowed herself to relax, leaning into the comfort of her friend’s presence. She had made a choice—a difficult, painful choice—but it was the only way she could see to protect herself and move forward.

But deep down, she knew that the road ahead was still fraught with challenges. Abhi wasn’t the kind of man who would give up easily, and the love they had shared was not something that could be erased with a single act of deception.

Still, Akshu was determined to keep her distance, to protect her heart at all costs. She had come too far to let herself be pulled back into the chaos of her past. And with Ajay by her side, she felt just strong enough to face whatever came next.

Little did she know, though, that Abhi’s resolve was just as strong as hers—and the battle for her heart was far from over.
