Chapter 1: The Little Girl - Elana
A young girl was hiding in a dark alleyway. It's been years since the war started between Crorqeiks and humans. The girl was trying to stay as quiet as she could, but it was difficult with the sounds of the war going on all around her. She had been hiding for days, and she was getting hungry. She was just about to leave her hiding spot to look for food, when she heard someone coming.
She quickly hid behind a garbage can, and peeked out to see who it was. It was a Crorqeik soldier, and he was looking around the alleyway. The girl held her breath, hoping he wouldn't find her. After a few moments, the soldier moved on, and the girl let out a sigh of relief. She waited a few more minutes, before she left her hiding spot to look for food.
The girl was starving, and she knew she had to find something to eat soon. She had been hiding in this alleyway for days, ever since the Crorqeik's had taken over her planet. She had seen her parents killed right in front of her, and she had barely escaped with her life. She had no idea what she was going to do, but she knew she had to keep moving. She couldn't let the Crorqeik's find her. She crept out of the alleyway, being careful to stay hidden in the shadows. She had no idea where she was going, but she knew she needed to find food. She had been walking for hours, and she was getting weak. She wasn't sure how much longer she could keep going. She was about to give up, when she saw a small convenience store up ahead. She didn't know if it would be safe, but she had to take the chance.
She approached the store cautiously, looking around for any signs of the Crorqeiks. When she didn't see anything, she darted inside. She quickly grabbed a few items off the shelves, before she heard voices outside. She knew she had to leave, but she didn't want to go back out there. She quickly hid under the counter, hoping they wouldn't find her. The door to the store opened, and she could hear the voices of the Crorqeiks. They were talking to each other, but the little girl didn't know what they were saying. As the Crorqieks walk closer, the little girl knows that she should move but stays very quiet so she's not in trouble.
The Crorqeik's finish looking around the store, and she hears them leave. She waits a few minutes before she comes out from under the counter. She's relieved that they're gone, but she knows she can't stay here much longer. She grabs a few more things off the shelves, before she heads back out into the forest. Out in the forest, there's less Crorqieks doing patrol, but there are weird looking animals that are much taller than the humans. The little girl needs to be careful or she'll be hunted. She is careful to avoid the animals, and she eventually finds her way back to her home. She's happy to be back, and she knows she won't be able to survive in this abandoned house for much longer.
The Crorqeiks have been expanding their land over the years and humans have been forced to move into smaller, crowded spaces. They advanced in technology and have factions that people of a certain age go into. All the children all left out, the last fraction, closest one to ground of the Crorqieks planet, Elteria.
Children don't have the people they need to take care of them, they are forced to work for their food, shelter. They made packs - a group of people who have roles - to stay alive. It didn't last long.
The young girl was left to defend herself after her group left her to go underground. She's heard stories about the underground and how many people would've rather stayed at the first fraction. "May-be Imma only one her'." She whispered to herself. She looked at the rocks and sticks, and started to make a little fire for her food. She had to look around for the 'pebbels" as of people called them to create the fire.
When the little girl made the fire to keep warm, the thermal heat used to create the fire burned around her which created a yellow-orange hue in the abandoned home. She knows she will only be able to use this fire once every few days as the smoke has a horrid sense of smell to the Crorqreiks. She brings out the few items she was able to take - mainly human meat as it's the Crorqreiks favorite meal. Disgusted, she gags as she prepares it, seasoning it with the mushrooms, algae, water, and a purple looking pickle into a big old pot, to simmer...
After eating, disgusted that she had to eat human flesh, she goes to lay down on a cot in the corner of the room, moldy and brown. The last remaining cinders of the almost diminished fire are left for her to look and watch as she falls asleep.
