It's been almost 5 years since that night. Now I live with Uncle Jesse and let's just say he's not the kindest person in this world. Even though dad made sure I stayed home away from the unsafe world, Jesse demanded that I went back to school. He didn't like me being home considering he didn't want to take care of me. He is my legal guardian, but I think he took up dad's offer just so he could drink his life away and with his drunkenness came abuse. Not only that, but he hates me with passion because he blames me for the death of my mother, his sister. Every morning I find him hung over and lying on the couch in the living room. I don't have a car and Jesse forbids me to drive his car. Basically he can't drive me to school since he's always hungover and I have no friends to pick me up, so I just walk the 7 miles to school.

School is such a waste of time for me.
I'm not going to college that's for sure and I just want to get out of this hell hole more than anyone else in this school. I've reached school already after a good hour and a half of walking and I made my way up the front steps. Going straight to my locker, I kept my head low which caused me to bump into two girls. "Hey watch where you're going asshole!" I just continued my way. Quickly making my way to my locker, I grabbed the books I needed for my classes and walked to my first class as the bell rang.

I never talked in my classes unless my teacher called on me. If I even opened my mouth, the group of kids behind me would shut me up. I remained calm, not letting my emotions get out of hand. I just ignored them, like I've been doing ever since I started school again. If only they knew I could shut them up faster than they could blink.

School went by quickly and I was on my way home. The sky was increasingly darker than the last couple of days and dark grey clouds hugged together. I heard a rumbling throughout my surroundings. Great. Rain. I'm not even halfway home. Chills passed through me as rain started to pour down, increasing by every passing minute.

I heard my footsteps squishing against the wet concrete beneath me, but then I realized that there were unsynchronized footsteps behind me. I turned the corner ahead of me so I could peek from the corner of my eye. It was a tall, large man with a gray jacket, hood pulled over his head. The stereotypical look of rapist. I continued walking glancing behind me a couple of times.

The man walked a great distance behind me. In this situation people freak out, but me? I know I can handle a threat. Even though I have greater capabilities, I remembered in that moment what my dad had said to me. To never use my ability. I sighed. I truly didn't want to make a scene or hurt anybody.

The smart thing to do was to keep walking and not go straight home. The last thing I need is for the creeper to know where I live. I turned into the alleyways in between buildings so I could lose him. Keeping my plan up for about 5 minutes, I noticed that he managed to close some of the distance between us. Being stupid, I turned a corner without checking where it would lead. A dead end. I turned around hoping I could make my way out in time before the mysterious man could gain up on me and corner me.

My heart began to race as I aligned myself with the opening of the alleyway. Looking left and right before I continued walking, I didn't see the man. Maybe it was just a coincidence and he lives somewhere around here.

I released a deep breath in relief and made my way home. Uncle Jesse is going to be pissed and I'm not going to receive the good end of it. My hair was drenched and sticking to my face, my clothes sagging from the water they had absorbed.

I went back the same way I entered through the alleyways. Deep in my thoughts, I was oblivious to my surroundings and a hand wrapped around my torso and the other covered my mouth. My scream was muffled by the hand as I was dragged into one of the dark ends of the alley. "Shhhhh... Be quiet!" The man whispered.

I forbid myself to use my ability but in my mind I was having an ongoing battle if I should save myself. I could easily hurt the man, but he will live to spread the word. Another option would be to kill him, but I'll be accounted for murder and everyone will look for me. That is something I don't need so I just improvised. I managed to elbow him in the gut causing him to retract his grasp from both my mouth and torso.

Turning around, I looked at him with wide eyes. He beat me in height by a handful of inches and he was lean, skinny even. When I made eye contact, I noticed a slight red lined around his pupil blending in with his brown iris. His jeans and gray jacket were soaked from the rain. With a malicious smile, he lunged for me. I dodged him and managed to punch him in his stomach, hard. I tried to run, but he tackled me to the ground, turning me over. He didn't have a weapon nor did he show intention to rape. I bumped my forehead into his to get him off of me.
"You will pay for that" he growled evilly. I threatened him, "You don't want to mess with me."

"Trust me girl. You think I don't know? I'm stronger than you'll ever be!" And with that I punched him in the face. He backed away grabbing his face in agony. He furiously growled. "I will kill you!" He screamed at me. I ran as fast as I could, making my way down different paths in the alleyway and onto the sidewalk by the street. I looked behind me and I didn't see the skinny man. As I ran, I spotted a police car approaching behind me. The police car slowed down and pulled up next to me as it drove at my pace.

"Is everything all right miss?" I lied to him, "Everything's fine." The cop leaned onto the frame of the window, "Then why were you running?" I laughed to make it seem that nothing just happened, "O I'm heading home and I am already late. I don't want my parents to worry about me since my phone died." Naturally, I'm a good liar. It's something that you learn to do very well. Especially when you have something to hide.

"Do you need a ride home? I can drop you off where you need to be." I looked around and saw the police slogan on the car. To protect and to serve. "That would be great actually!" I smiled and hopped into the back seat. I gave him the directions to my house and we headed home. The whole ride there, I replayed what just happened. Those man's eyes pierced my soul as I thought about it.

The police man pulled up to the side curb and I opened the door. "Thank you so much. I really appreciate it." He smiled, "No problem little lady. You be safe now when you walk home alone." I warmly smiled back, "Will do officer."

As I was walking towards my house, I saw a large black truck in my driveway. Confused as to who it was, I made my way up the steps of my house and closed the door behind me. Uncle Jesse angrily came to me as soon as he heard the door close. "Where have you been?" He said furiously. I flinched as he said that, anticipating for the abuse I was about to receive. But this time he didn't raise his hand to hit me. "I had to stay after school today because my teacher wanted to talk to me. Plus it was raining."

He shook his head at me and spoke, "We will discuss this later." Jesse was really tense, but showed no sign that he was drunk or abusive. "You have visitors." My uncle stated bluntly. Visitors? I don't know anyone but Uncle Jesse. Who would want to see me?

Trying to think of who it could be, Uncle Jesse led me to the living room where there were two men in military uniforms sitting on the couch.
