FOURTY-EIGHT
Aaron had stepped inside of his car, slamming the door behind him as he banged his head against the wheel as it had been another long day at work.
He sighed, knowing his father wasn't going to admit what he did wrong in the past should have stayed in the past and not be pushed towards the future.
Along with having to deal with his father, Aaron felt as if he was being watched all throughout the work day as every little thing he had messed up on seemed to tick his father.
Derek wanted nothing in Aaron's way as anything could screw up his potential to replacing his father once he retires but Aaron wanted nothing to do with his stupid business.
"She's the reason I'm still here today! She's the only person still holding onto me!"
It made Derek confused out of all the opportunities he had to work somewhere else, Aaron decided to work for his father instead and used this information to his advantage when he had ticked Aaron off.
Aaron was already fed up with his father's behavior but now, using him to his advantage only shows how manipulative his father had grew over the years Aaron had been gone.
"and what happens when she's lets go?"
He pulled his head away from the wheel, slipping his hand slowly inside his pocket, pulling out his phone.
He turned on his phone, pressing on the power button as his gaze locked with the notifications on the lock screen.

Baby💜 5h ago
Aaron, where are you? You're normally back home by now.
Baby💜 5h ago
I hope you're doing alright, I love you.
Baby💜 5h ago
The bed is so cool without you here, I just want my cuddles.
Aaron chuckled at the last message he had received from his girlfriend, placing his phone back into pocket before turning the vehicle on and driving off.
The radio station played quiet in the background as he passed the rows of streets lights reflecting off the car windshield and the moon in the far distance lighting up the night sky.
"can't hold that shit against you."
His grip around the stirring wheel had tighten, thinking about the conversation he had earlier with his father which only sent Aaron into rage, making his eyes unsettle between the tones of dark red.
A few cars had passed by him as he continued down the road, turning left onto the neighborhood. His gaze had met the large two-story house not too far in the distance, turning onto the driveway of the house.
The vehicle had stopped in front of the house, the headlights turned off and silence had taken over.
He leaned himself against the driver seat, reaching inside his back pocket for his phone.
He pressed the power button on the side of his phone once more as there was more messages left on the lock screen.

Baby💜 Just now
Aaron, you're starting to worry me. Did something happen? Are you okay? I just want to know if you're okay.
Baby💜 Just now
I love you.
He opened his phone, pressing on the messaging app and writing back to his worried girlfriend.
Aaron
I'm sorry.
It hadn't come to mind about what he should but he didn't know what else to write.
He laid against the driver's seat tapping away on the stirring wheel but he didn't realize the message had been sent.
He managed the courage to take a deep breathe in, before grabbing his things which contained nothing more than a few papers from the passenger seat and his keys.
He stepped out of the car, looking around neighborhood covered in lights dangling from rooftops.
He unlocked the front door, pushing it open before stepping inside being consumed by the warmth of the house.
"Finally."
Suddenly, the sound of small feet had banged against the wooden flooring which grabbed his attention to the top of the stairs.
"Aaron!" Aaron smiled, accepting the warm welcoming he received from his girlfriend.
She wrapped her arms around his neck tightly embracing him after a long day.
"Where have you've been? I was worried about you!" She quickly started panicking, her heart racing and small tears forming in the side of her eye.
Aaron immediately took note of her sadden expression, trying to comfort her as best as he could.
"I'm so sorry, darling. I didn't mean to leave you alone for so long." Aaron wrapped his arms around Aphmau's waist, lifting her up from the ground.
"I just need to take care of something before I left." He reassured her.
"You always say that."
"It's okay." She smiled but the expression plastered on her face quickly faded after realizing something might have happened at work.
"Did something happen at work? Did something happen with your father again?"
She could tell by Aaron's expression he was making it was father who had become a problem again.
Her expression soften, placing her hands on his cheeks and circling the side of his face with her thumbs.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" She was talking going to lie, Aphmau was curious to know but she didn't want Aaron to feel pressured into telling her.
In response, he proceeded to shake his head to her question making her concern grow bigger.
"You never open up to me anymore."
"Are you sure? I'm always here to talk if you want." she smiled sweetly.
"You never talk to me anymore."
"I'm sure. I know where to go if I want to talk." he smiled back, leaving small pecks on her cheek making her giggle.
"There you again, you always say that."
"Good."
"Guess they were right, the greatest love stories do always end up in tragedy."
