Chapter 24
Consequences

"I'm sorry"

Third Person

Aphmau was laying down on her stomach with her wolf plush on the other side of her.

Aphmau was playing 'uno' with her wolf plush.

She hasn't really had anyone to be within months. The only thing she had was her wolf plush and a stack of cards with numbers and colors on them.

Aaron, on the other hand, was too 'busy' to play with Aphmau, So Aphmau just decided to play with wolf plush.

Normally, wolf plush would talk to her when she needs it but lately, it hasn't been talking to her.

These days, it usually just stares at her while she's doing something like staring at the television all day or a game she's playing with wolf plush.

It hasn't been easy for Aphmau.

She has no one.

Everyone is either too busy working or can't make it due to last-minute calls or in need of help.

She just smiles and says,

"It's fine"

But really, it hurts her to know her own friends won't hang out with her either.

Slyvanna is too busy planning her wedding with Eric because recently, Eric proposed to her and now there on a tight schedule to get things done.

Yep, that's how it's been for her.

Lonely.

Unloved.

Unwanted.

Unappreciated.

She spends most of her time crying, thinking everything will be alright if you just disappeared into the darkness where no one will find you and be upset.

She hasn't smiled, laughed, giggled or even said anything that will cheer someone up.

Now, she spends her time with a stuffed animal that won't even talk to her.

She sighs and stares into the television while it plays happiness that Aphmau won't ever get to feel again.

She hears heavy footprints coming down the wooden stairs. She turns her head and sees Aaron going down.

"Oh, it's just him. ." She thought.

Aaron won't even look at her, talk to her, hug her, kiss her or cuddle her.

He either gets upset at her for doing something wrong that wasn't her fault or stays upstairs working in his office all day until nighttime.

He also makes her sleep downstairs while he gets the whole bed to himself and Aphmau just get an uncomfortable couch filled with sadness and despair.

He also forgets so many things that he can't get back.

Aphmau's birthday is coming up and she already knows he's gonna forget it so what's the point in celebrating something that someone you loved is gonna forget it and neglect you?

I can't answer that but it hurts for those who loved ones forget their birthday.

The only thing she does is fake a smile and pretends everything little thing is gonna be alright.

She sighs and gets up.

"Hello, Mr. Lycan," She says in a tone-deaf voice.

Aaron won't even let her call him by his first name. She's kinda like a maid to him instead of his wife.

"Make sure you get my lunch right or else I'll make you sleep on the floor"

He growled at her and went back upstairs. She sighs again and makes his food for lunch while paying close attention to the things she does. She then quickly walks upstairs and knocks on the door.

"Come in," He says in deep but uncomforted voice.

She walks in and places the foot right beside him. She stands there to watch him while he exams the food and pushes it with the fragile plate shattering to the ground.

"I said not to put mayonnaise on the sandwich and what did you do?"

He stands up and walks towards Aphmau. Aphmau's body shivers in fear while closing her eyes and a smack to the face that pushes her to the ground with tears dripping out of her eyes.

"You put mayonnaise in the sandwich, get out of my office!"

He screams at her and she runs out his office. The door slams behind her and Aphmau runs towards the couch and land on it with the tears that once were dripping out of her eyes now spilling out like a waterfall.

"What did I do to deserve this?"

She sobs loudly but she quickly put a hand over her mouth so Aaron won't hurt her.

Unfortunately, Aaron heard her crying and comes out of his office to scream at her again but instead stops dead in his tracks when he hears Aphmau talking to herself with the wolf plush that he gave her.

"Y'know, this isn't the first time I've cried at something like this. I remember the time I was also slapped in the face not once but twice"

"It's fine to know that everything you do isn't appreciated by someone who once loved. That red string between us was once so strong to now it's just a single string hanging on for its dear life before it weakens and shrivels into nothing"

"I think I've made my decision. ."

"Decision?" He thought.

"Well, it's almost nighttime, I should probably be on the ground in case Aaron comes and sees me on the couch instead of the floor"

She gets up from the ground and grabs two pillows and a small blanket and wraps herself in it while placing her on the ground.

Aaron walks back upstairs and closes the door behind him.

"What does she mean by decision?"

"I shouldn't worry about something that isn't important like her. I have too many papers to get through"

He walks over to his seat and starts writing, typing and filling out papers he needs.

Aphmau got up and quickly got into 'his' bedroom and stuffed her clothes and other important things she needed into a suitcase and dragged it downstairs and put it by the door.

She then proceeds wrapping herself in a black hoodie and grabbed a sticky note and wrote a few things on it.

She runs over to the door and grabs her keys and opens the door and slams it behind her.

She got into her car and drove off to the farthest hotel away from Aaron.

Aaron heard the door slam and got out of his office to see what happened.

He didn't see Aphmau sleeping on the floor like how he last saw her.

He went over to the kitchen and saw a paper and sticky note attached to the paper.

His eyes widen as he saw what was on the paper,

Divorce with her name signed on it and another note with it.

Dear Aaron,
I don't know where to start. All I know is you've made my life a living hell these past few months and I felt unloved, unwanted and lonely while you're kicking me out of so many things I needed and I saw this as my opportunity to leave.

I signed the paper and all you need to do is sign where it says to sign. I'm sorry but couldn't take it any longer so I leave you with this note, these papers, and my ring.

Goodbye Aaron,
Aphmau

His eyes filled with tears and with his blurry vision, he rips the divorce papers in pieces.
