Chapter 36

Previously on Chapter 35

"I'm sorry, Katara..." I said, in a low voice. I open my glider and fly away, following my brother. I can hear Katara yelling for me. But I ignore her and continue to fly.

-The Day Everything Changed-

Y/N P.O.V

I found Aang inside a cave. I land by the entrance and walks inside. "Aang..." I said, in a soft voice. He turns to look at me and instantly gets up, pulling me into his embrace. He hugs me tightly as I feel his body shaking. I wrap my arms around him, hugging him back just as tight.

I rub his back softly as he cries onto my shoulder. I bit my lips, trying not to cry. It's hard for me... but I know Aang had it harder. After all, he is the one the monks claimed as Avatar. While I just found out a while ago.

I hear a groan and turn my head to see Katara. She get off of Appa and walks towards us. I look at her for a few seconds and looks down.

"I'm sorry for running away..." Aang said. "It's okay. The fisherman was way out of line" she said. I shake my head. "Actually, he wasn't..." Aang said. "What do you mean?" She asked, looking surprised. "I don't wanna talk about it..." he said, hugging his knees.

"It has to do with your dream, doesn't it? Talk to me" she said, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Well... it's kind of a long story..." he said. We jump when Momo suddenly flies past us. l/n lands on my lap, she curls up into a ball making me smile softly.

"I'm going to try to get a little fire going..." Katara said. "I'll help..." I said. She smiles gratefully at me. Then we begin working on starting the fire.

We're now sitting around the fire. l/n on my lap, and Momo on Aang's. Aang looks so upset. I know what's going on inside his head.

"I'll never forget the day the monks told me I was the Avatar. I was playing with some kids outside the South Wall. I was trying to teach them how to do the air scooter" he said. I remember that day too. He was having so much fun, when the monks called for him to tell him the news. The news that changes his life, along with mine.

Flashback

"First, you got to form the ball. Then you got to get on quick" Aang said, as he gave a little demo for the others to see. The other kids looks excited.

"Okay, here it goes..." one of them said. He forms a ball. After he succeed in forming the ball, he tried to get on. But instead of staying balance, he begin to spun around. In the end, he fell off. Aang gets off of his.

"You kind of have to balance on it like it's a top" Aang said. "Man... it's hard..." the boy said. "It's not hard... you just needed practice" I said. "Why don't you try then?" He said, turning to look at me.

I grin and tried to make mine. I get on top of it. I manage to get on top of it and stay balanced. "Look Aang! I did it!!" I said, grinning. He turns to me and grinned. "Good job, sis!" He said, clapping his hand lightly.

"Where'd you learned that trick Aang?" Another boy said. "I made it up" Aang said, smiling at him. His eyes widened at Aang's response. "Wow!!" He said, amazed.

I hear footsteps. I turn my head to see The Council of Elders. "Aang, come with us. We need to speak to you" Gyatso said. I turn to look at Aang worriedly. He gave me a reassuring smile. Then he follows the elders.

Being the curious sibling I am, along with feeling worried for my brother. I decided to follow them. He's my brother... I deserve to know what's going on with him.

"How do you know it's me?" Aang said. The Elders have just announced that Aang is the Avatar. To say I'm shock would be an understatement.

"Actually, there's two results that shows who might be the Avatar" Tashi said. "Then who's the other person?" Aang asked, looking curious. "Your little sister..." Gyatso said. "Y/N??" Aang said, in shock. Monk Gyatso just nods his head.

"Then why are you sure it's me?" He said. "We have known you were the Avatar for some time. Y/N only show a couple traits. You're more dominant. First of all, do you remember these?" Tashi said, using his air-bending to throw something in front of Aang.

"Those were some of my favorite toys when I was little!" Aang said, sounding excited. "You chose them among thousands of toys, Aang. The toys you picked were the four Avatar relics. These items belongs to Avatar pasts. Your own past lives" he said.

"I just chose them because they seem fun..." Aang said. He pick one up and pulls the cord, sending the propeller spinning into the air. The toy goes over Monk Tashi's head.

"You chose them because they seem familiar" he said, turning to look at Aang. "Normally we would have told you of your identity when you turned sixteen, but there are troubling signs. Storm clouds are gathering" Monk Gyatso said. "We fear that war may be upon us, young Avatar" Monk Pasang said. "We need you, Aang..." Monk Gyatso said.

End of Flashback

Aang keep his head down once he finished telling Katara what happened. I wrap my arm around his shoulder, letting him lean on me. I gently rub his back, to comfort him.

"So you were upset that you were the Avatar? Why wouldn't you be excited about it?" Katara said. Aang turns to look at her for a bit, then look back down. He lets out a sigh.

"Well, I don't know how to feel about it. All I knew was that after I found out, everything began changing" he said.

Flashback

"Hey, not bad! You guys have been practicing" Aang said, as we walk towards where the other kids are playing. "Not only that! We made up a game you can play with the air scooters!" One of them said. "Great!" Aang said. He starts to form the air scooter, and I do the same.

"What's going on?" He said, noticing how everyone fall silent and got off of their air scooters. "Now that you're the Avatar... it's kind of an unfair advantage for whichever team you're on..." the boy said. I got off of my air scooter.

"Are you seriously just said that? Aang taught you the trick! Now you're just going to shut him out?!" I said, feeling anger building up inside me. The boy just avoided my gaze.

"Y/N's right! I'm still the same! Nothing's changed. So, what? I can't play?" He said, in sadness. "That's the only fair way..." the boy said, avoiding my gaze. "Oh, okay" Aang said, as he begin to walked away. "Aang! Wait for me!" I said. I ran after him, but I turn around to face the boys. "You guys are jerks!" I said, glaring at them. I turn around and chase my brother.

***

Aang and Monk Gyatso are currently playing Pai Sho. I'm sitting next to Aang, to observe their game. Despite being the same age, I don't get how to play Pai Sho as well as Aang.

"Very interesting move, young one" Monk Gyatso commented at the move Aang made. "What do you mean?" He said, confused. I let out a giggle when Monk Gyatso used bending to move Aang's clothes into covering his head.

Monk Gyatso quickly moves the pieces. "Hey!" Aang said, knowing his mischief. They share a laugh that makes me giggle. Then Monk Tashi appeared.

"You're playing games with him? The Avatar should be training!" He said. "Aang has already trained enough for today..." Monk Gyatso said. "Time is short. Come with me, I must test you on some high level techniques..." Monk Tashi said. Aang got up and was about to follow him, when Monk Gyatso stopped him.

"No. As long as I'm his guardian, I will decide when he trains... and when he gets his butt kicked at Pai Sho" he said. Monk Tashi glares at him and storms off. Aang turns to him and grins. I grab his hand and pulls him to sit back down, making him laugh.
