Chapter 35

"What?!" Sokka said, flabbergasted. "He made the whole thing up, Sokka..." I said, giggling softly. "You did not! That's so wrong!!" Katara said. "Oh, I think it's brilliant" I said, grinning. He grins back at me. "Now where is that custard tart? I'm starving!" He said, looking around. I just giggle at my brother.

I woke up to the sound of gasping. I turn my head to see Aang breathing heavily. "What's going on? Did we get captured again?" Sokka said, drowsily. He's holding his dagger and boomerang.
"It's nothing... I just had a bad dream. Go back to sleep..." Aang said. "Don't have to tell me twice..." Sokka said, already laying back down and instantly drift off to sleep. I turn my head to look at my twin.
I stand up from Appa's arm. I take a seat in front of him. "Do you wanna talk about it?" I asked. He just shakes his head. "Are you alright, Aang?" Katara said. "I'm okay..." Aang said. His eyes looked lost. I wonder what his nightmare is about.
"You seem to be having a lot of nightmares lately... you wanna tell me about it?" Katara said. "I think I just need some rest..." he said, in a tired voice. I let out a sigh and gently caress his head. "Sleep easy, Aang..." I said. "Thanks, sis..." he said. Closing his eyes.
"You guys wanna hear about my dream?" Sokka said out of no where. Katara glares at him, Sokka returns the glare. "That's okay... I didn't wanna talk about it anyway" he said. He turns his body and lay back. I hear him snore once again. How did he even woke up out of no where in the first place.

"Look at those clear skies, buddy! Should be some smooth flying" Aang said, while petting Appa's fur. I stare at the sky. I can feel the slight changes in the air. Something's not right.
I hear some rustling and turn my head to Katara. She is checking the bags and turns it upside down, only to reveal some crumps. She lets out a soft sigh.
"Well, we better smoothly fly ourselves to the market 'cause we're out of food" she said. "Guys wait, this was in my dream. We shouldn't go to the market" Sokka said.
"What happened in your dream?" Katara asked. "Food eats people..." he said, looking scared. I let out a giggle, while Aang and Katara gives him a weird look.
"Also, Momo and l/n could talk... you two said some very unkind things" Sokka said, turning to the two lemurs. Their ears lowers down in sadness at what he just said.

We are now in the market. Katara is trying to buy us some watermelon. But I can tell she's a bit reluctant. I stand next to her as I listen to the merchant woman ranting how the watermelon is good.
"Ahhh, it's good! It's perfect, I'm telling you!" She said. Katara lightly shakes the watermelon, I can hear the swishing sound from it.
"I don't know if I like the sound of that swishing..." she said. "Swishing means it's ripe! It's the ripe juices swishing around, eh?" The merchant woman said. "I think it's true, Katara. Swishing means it's ripe..." Aang said, as he walks towards us. "I just realize we're out of money..." Katara said, turning to look at the merchant. She looks annoyed and snatch the basket filled with fruits from Sokka's hands.
"Awww..." he said, looking sad. We walk away from the shop. I can hear a sound of kicking. I turn my head to see Sokka rubbing his butt. The merchant must have kicked him.
"Out of food and out of money. Now what are we suppose to do?" He said. "You should get a job, smart guy" Katara said. I can hear the sound of arguing and turn my head. I can see an old woman and old man. They seem to be a married couple.
"You shouldn't go out there! Please, the fish can wait. There's going to be a terrible storm" the wife said. "You're crazy... it's a nice day: no clouds, no winds, no nothing. Quit your nagging, woman" he said.
"Maybe we should find some shelter?" Aang said. I nod my head in agreement. "Yeah... we should..." I said. "Are you kidding? Shelter from what??" Sokka said.
"My joints say there's going to be a storm! A bad one" the wife said. "Well your joints against my brain..." the husband said. I feel a gentle nudge on my side. I turn my head to see Katara.
"What?" I said. "What do you think Y/N? Do YOU think there'll be a storm? You're usually observant. Did your bending picked up anything?" She said. "I don't know... it's pretty dull lately..." I said. Aang is not the only one facing nightmares. I do too... I just hide my stresses and worries pretty well. Aang on the other hand... he's a mess.
"Well, I hope your brain can find someone to haul that fish, 'cause I ain't comin'!" The wife said. "Then I'll find a new fish hauler and pay him double what you get! How do you like that?" The man said. Sokka rushes forward.
"I'll go!" He said. "You're hired!" The man said. We just stare at him emotionlessly. He turns to look at us, noticing the way we stare at him. "What? You said get a job... and he's paying double" he said.
"Double? Who told you that nonsense?" He said. I just let out a huff. This man counts on his brain that there won't be a storm. But he seem to have a short term memory loss. He clearly said he's going to pay double, now he denies it.

"Sokka, maybe this isn't such a good idea. Look at the sky" Aang said. "I said I was going to do this job. I can't back out because of some bad weather" Sokka said. I let out a sigh. I turn my head to look at the ocean. My eyes widened as the air blows at me. I can instantly feel something is wrong.
"There's going to be a storm..." I said. "Nonsense!" The man said. "I'm telling you, sir... there will be a big storm!" I said, trying to convince the man. But he completely shut me out.
"The kids with tattoos have some senses. You should listen to them" the woman said. "Kids with tattoos? Well, I'll be hog monkey's uncle. You're the Avatars, ain't ya?" He said, turning to look at the two of us.
"That's right!" Katara said, smiling. But I can see the look of hatred flashing in his eyes. "Well don't be so smiley about it. The Avatar disappear a hundred years! You turned your back on the world! Don't expect showing up now with another avatar would change it!!" He said, raising his voice at us.
"Don't yell at them! Aang and Y/N would never turn their backs on anyone!" Katara said. The man looks at Katara with anger. "Oh, they wouldn't, huh? Then I must have imagined the last hundred years of war and suffering" he said.
"They're the bravest people I know. They've done nothing but help people and save lives since I met them!" She said. I back away in sadness at what he said.
"It's not their fault they disappear. Plus Y/N have just learned that she's the Avatar. Right guys?" She said, turning to look at us. She looks confused as she stares at the two of us.
"Guys? What's wrong?" She said. Aang just opens his glider and flies away. I turn to look at him. I can see the guilt in his eyes. I feel the same... after all... I'm in this too.
Katara notices the same sad look on my face. "Y/N... wait, please. You know it's not true... you and Aang would never turn your back against anyone..." I hear Katara said. I turn to her, with sadness in my eyes.
"I'm sorry, Katara..." I said, in a low voice. I open my glider and fly away, following my brother. I can hear Katara yelling for me. But I ignore her and continue to fly.
