Third Person's POV

after a long walk and visit to the Fossil Lab Our heroes have finally arrived to Cyllage City not to everyone's surprised that Clemont was exhausted.

"We're finally in Cyllage City!" Serena states

"Yay we made it" Bonnie cheer.

Ash looks at the city "There it is, Pikachu" Ash says as both he and Pikachu watches the city with Awe.

Eli also watches the city "after a while we're finally here" he says.

"Sylveon!"

"Can't wait to go and challenge Grant so we can beat the Cyllage City Gym!" Ash states.

Maddie giggles while shaking her head "Of course Ash's certain that he'll win" she say as Serena nods agreeing with her.

Gary then looks at Eli "you're excited?" he asked the blue hair male.

Eli shrugs "Mostly nervous, I mean I can't really tell what Grant's capable off other than what you've told me after I came back in checking on Sylveon in the Pokémon Center" Eli says

Gary without a doubt takes Eli's hand and make him turn to the slight taller brunette "Eli, your Pokémon are strong heck even Marill's strong not to mention, they believe in you just as much as you believe in them, so don't you dare doubt your own strength" he tells the blue hair male.

"Gary...it's been a while since you've talk to me like that" He tells Gary "Even if you were a overconfident asshole back then, you still have something wise to say" he adds.

Gary blushes and rubs the back of his head "Y-Yeah, I guess I still got it" he says before laughing nervously.

Eli smiles "Thanks Gary, I needed that encouragement" he thanked the Brunette male before looking down at the Intertwining Pokémon "Sylveon, let's do our and makes sure that it was worth the training" he tells Sylveon who nods.

"Veon!" Sylveon cries determine.

"Umbre!" Umbreon cries at Sylveon in cheer which the Intertwining Pokémon nods at the Moon Pokémon.

A long journey and lots of training have brought Ash, Eli and the rest of our heroes to their second Gym Badge challenge in Cyllage City, but will all that training be enough?

"Hey, You guys. let's step on it" Ash says before running off but Eli stops him.

"Hold your horses Ash, we don't want to have another Santalune City incident by getting lost in the city" Eli reminded Ash "besides I doubt the Gym is in that direction" he adds.

"It isn't? How can you be so sure?" Ash questioned the bluette male.

Eli crosses his arms "well if we remember meeting him in at the Battle Chateau, where would a wall climber be where they want to climb the most?" he says Ash thinks for a moment before Eli sighing "I confused you, I'm sorry, Serena please explain to him for me" he tells the honey blonde female.

Serena then looks up at a mountain "It looks like it's way up on that mountain" Serena points out.

Ash then realizes "so that's what you were trying to tell me, you just riddle it so that I can guess" he tells Eli who nod.

"Yeah, now come on, we don't want to keep Grant waiting" Eli tells Ash before they all follow Serena as she guides them to the entrance of the gym.

Maddie looks at Whitley "What do you think about seeing Grant again?" she asked.

Whitley thinks for a moment "I think he's cool, strong trainer for be a Rock-type specialist, both Ash and Eli have good type coverage, but overall, I have a feeling that both battles would close ones" Whitley explains.

"So, you think he's cool?" the white hair female teasingly.

Whitley blushes and waves his twin off "I-It's not what you think!" Whitley state.

"right" Maddie responds totally not buying her brother's words "well now that we're here we must do our business and go back to Compete in showcases, huh?" Maddie says.

Whitley nod "yeah, meaning we have to say goodbye to Eli and the others?" he questions.

Maddie shrug "maybe" she says before looking at Serena with sadness.

"Hey! Let's not focus on that now let's give, Ash and Eli our support" Whitley tells Maddie who nod agreeing with him.

-scene changes-

Our heroes have entered the Gym, and they see a stone wall which is much to their amazement.

"Wow, Grant sure loves climbing walls" Whitley says to himself before seeing Grant almost reaching the top.

"Hey Grant, it's ash and Eli!" Ash calls the rock type Gym Leader who looks down and sees our heroes looking up at him "We're here to challenge you to a Gym battle, are you ready?" Ash says yelling at the rock climber.

"Sure, no problem" Grant responds while letting himself hang on one of the stones "I've been waiting for you two, climb on up" he tells the Ash and Eli.

Ash looks confused "Climb what?"

Eli looks at Ash "I think he mean that we should climb on this wall" he tells the ravenette Kantonian.

"Eli's right on the top of this wall is the battlefield" he tells Ash shocking everyone.

"No way!" Serena stated with disbelief.

"Yes way!" Bonnie responds with excitement.

"You see, my Cyllage Gym specializes in Rock-type Pokémon; I feel all challengers should experience my great love of rocks" Grant explains to the group which they're surprised except for Eli "So I designed the gym to accomplish that by allowing you to climb up on your own power" he adds.

'Why that phrased reminded me of how Steven would blabber his love for stones? these two would become best friends immediately' Eli thinks. 

"You don't mean all of us, do you?" Serena questioned out of fear.

"I think only the challengers are allowed to climb up" Maddie tells serena.

"No, not to worry! We've got an elevator over there as well; the choice is yours!" Grant tells our heroes while pointing on his left "Now, just because you don't scale the wall, doesn't mean I won't accept your challenge" he assures them.

Eli walks up to the wall and checks on the colored stones which they're stiff like they're glued well Eli nod as he was about to climb Gary stops him "just something quick before you go climb, just be careful out there we'll see you at the top" Gary tells Eli before leaving with the others leaving only Ash and Eli going up to climb.

"Ready Eli?" Ash asks the blue hair boy turning his red cap backwards as Pikachu stays sitting on Ash's shoulder.

Eli nods as Sylveon climbs on his shoulder "ready when you are" he responds, and the two trainers begin to climb up the wall.

Eli wasn't as fast as Ash, but he manages to keep up with the other male on his own tempo; after almost two and a half minutes both Ash and Eli manages to climb up to the top of the wall as both Pikachu and Sylveon got off their trainers' shoulder Before Ash helps Eli getting up.

"Hey there Grant, we made it" Ash tells Grant.

Grant nods "well done you two" he congratulated the two half exhausted trainers before him so what were you two thinking about when you were climbing?" he then asked.

"I haven't think of anything only looking straight up to where you were looking down on us as we were catching up" Eli tells Grant.

"I wasn't thinking about anything" Ash add.

Grant smiles at the two "that's perfect; that means you achieved a state of enlightenment" Grant tells the two trainers "Your minds were crystal clear, unclouded" he explains "Now that you've successfully conquered the wall, the next wall you two will conquer is me. And that's what you came here for, challengers" he then says to Ash and Eli.

Clemont then speaks up from the stands "A question; why do you have challengers climb the wall?" he questions.

Grant looks over at Clemont so that inner peace can be achieved" Grant answers.

"Inner Peace?" Whitley repeats.

"What's that mean?" Bonnie questions as the others were looking at Grant curious with what he means by such words.

"Scaling the wall" Grant simply responds while raising his hand up in the air "is the best way I know to achieve a state of enlightenment; when I do that, I forget everything else, and the only thing I concentrate on is reaching the top, that is my one and only gal. The only thing I want is to arrive at my destination" he explains while pulling his hand back down "As long as there is a wall for me to climb, I will rise to the challenge, I want challengers to achieve the same state of enlightenment when they climb up here to me" Grant says as the sun shines bright above him.

Whitley looks at Grant with awe the Gym leader notices this and winks making the white hair boy blush and looks down making grant chuckle to himself.

Grant looks back at the two trainers "so which one of you will like to go first?" he ask.

Eli pushes Ash forward "You go first Ash, you're more excited than I am since we arrived to the city" he tells Ash.

Ash nods "Alright, I'll do it because you insisted" Ash then says

"Sylveon!" Sylveon cry at Pikachu wishing it good luck.

"Pika, Pika!" Pikachu cry back.

Eli and Sylveon walk off to a bench that's located across the referee, and he then sits down with Sylveon sitting down next to his trainer.

"Now, the battle between Grant, the Cyllage City Gym leader and Ash, the Challenger from Pallet Town is about to begin" The referee announces "the Gym Leader will have the use of only two Pokémon while the challenger will have to use of all the Pokémon that he currently has in his possession" the referee explains which surprises both Ash and Eli.

'We can use all of them?' they questioned.

Grant notices their reaction "That's how the Cyllage Gym operates. I want to see everything that Trainers and their Pokémon can do" Grant explains the reason of why this rule exists.

"I see..." Eli mutters.

"Veon" Sylveon looks at Grant feeling Eli's hand rubbing on its feelers.

"Oh, Got it!" Ash says as he finally understood the intention "Right now I've got three Pokémon while Eli already has six" Ash says as Eli sweat drops at Ash.

"You don't have to answer for me, Ash" Eli tells the ravenette Kantonian.

"Only the Challenger can substitute Pokémon during the battle" the referee finishes explaining the rules "So, if you please, bring out your Pokémon" he then instructs both Gym Leader and Challenger 

Eli and Sylveon watches closely as the blue hair trainer wonder what Pokémon they'll bring out first.

"I've been looking forward to your challenge since I saw both you and Eli battle back at the Battle Chateau" Grant confesses as he pulls out a Poké ball and narrow his eyes at Whitley 'and Obviously seeing you too' he adds that sentence in his thoughts "Now let's see which Pokémon you plan to use to scale the wall and that is me" Grant wonders looking at Ash seriously "Onix, let's go!" Grant calls out his Pokémon as the rock snake Pokémon appears before Ash.

Onix roar up at the sky.

"Wow, Onix" Eli states as he pulls out his Pokédex.

"Onix, the Rock Snake Pokémon. Onix takes in enormous amounts of soil through its mouth, creating long tunnels."

"So he's gonna use Onix first" Ash noted as he sees the Rock Snake Pokémon in front of him "in that case, I'll use this" Ash says while pulling out a Pokéball "Froakie, I choose you!" Ash calls out the frog Pokémon.

"Froakie!" Froakie cry appearing between Ash and Onix

"Hey there's Froakie" Bonnie states.

"Wate type have an advantage over Rock types; Ash has a sound strategy" Clemont comment.

Eli furrows his brows watching from the bench 'Even if Ash has the type advantage, but that doesn't mean anything, and he's too smart for that' he thinks.

Eli pulls out a Poké ball "Braixen come on out!" Eli calls the shiny fire Fox Pokémon.

"Braixen!" Braixes cry as it appears next to Eli.

"Braixen, let's both cheer for Froakie, okay?" Eli tells Braixen which Braixen nod and twirls its wand while doing a cheery cry making Froakie blush a bit yet feels motivated.

"Alright. Battle Begin!" the referee announces as the battle starts.

"Okay Froakie, water Pulse!" Ash commands.

Froakie creates a sphere of blue energy and throws it at Onix.

"Flash Cannon, go!" Grant yells.

Onix's body becomes outlined in white energy. A white orb of energy with light blue energy then forms inside of Onix's mouth, and it fires a white beam of energy with light blue energy from it at the Froakie, Onix dodges the Water Pulse as Froakie get hit by the Flash Cannon causing Ash to gasp with shock.

Froakie falls back and rolls before kicking up "Froakie, are you alright?" Ash asks the water starter.

"Kie!" Froakie cried reassuring that it can continue.

"Let's go!" Ash then says as Froakie charges forward.

"Rock Polish" Grant says making Eli gasps.

Onix's body sparks with light blue energy, allowing Onix to move faster.

"Onix has increased its speed" Clemont states.

"That doesn't sound good" Gary commented.

Eli watches the two of them "Be careful Ash and Froakie" Eli mutter.

"Brai" Braixen cries worried for its water type friend.

"I can see what you're planning, Ash; clearly attacking Onix's large body is your goal, but can you deal with its speed?" he questions before raising a hand "Now go after Froakie" Grant tells the rock snake Pokémon who then tries to catch up with Froakie but due to the size difference Froakie manages to out speed the rock and Ground type.

"Stay calm, Froakie; use Double Team!" Ash tells Froakie as the frog Pokémon creates multiple clones of itself running around Onix.

"A speedy double team, indeed; but it isn't gonna help you one bit against our next move" Grant tells Ash.

'Here come his Rock Tomb' Ash and Eli thought.

"Now it's time to experience the true Power of Rock types; use Rock Tomb!" Grant states.

Onix becomes outlined in white energy and raises its head. Multiple gray rocks outlined in white energy then form around its head in the shape of a ring. The glow around Onix then fades, causing the rocks to fall down on Froakie's Double Team.

"Oh Ash" Serena state looking worried.

"I guess we'll see if all that training pays off" Clemont says.

Gary crosses his arm "is Ash who we're talking about, the training will totally pay off" he confidently says.

Maddie nods "he's right, both Eli and Ash along with their Pokémon busted their asses working hard even before meeting Grant" Maddie adds.

Whitley remained silent as watches Grant with awe 'He's so cool' Whitley think before shaking his head 'what am i thinking!? I'm supposed to be cheering for Ash!' he questions himself.

"Froakie, watch carefully then, jump!" Ash tells his water type Pokémon who nodded.

As the Rock Tomb begins to hit the ground Froakie then jumps as the Rock type move takes down most of the clones.

"That should end your Double Team; now let's see if you can escape from our Rock Tomb" Grant then says to Ash.

Ash then looks up at Froakie who remained in the air "Now, Froakie, show them what that training was for!" Ash tells as Froakie landed on rock-by-rock surprising the Gym Leader "Keep on jumping higher!" Ash tells Froakie who continues on jumpin on the Rock Tomb.

Eli smirks "training did pay off" he says to himself while Sylveon and Braixen cheer for the Water-type Pokémon.

"How is it Possible?" Grant asks out of shock.

"We saw that Rock Tomb at the Battle Chateau, and I knew we'd have to beat it for me to earn a badge; so, we did some special training to come up with a way to counter act that move" Ash explains.

Grant's impressed by this "I'm beyond impressed" he confesses.

"It's called: The Froakie Rock Tomb Climb or what Eli like to call it the FRTC" he states making Eli giggle.

"Amazing the FRTC!" Serena state as she, Clemont and Bonnie high five each other as Gary, Maddie and Whitley simply smile.

"That should give Ash lots of confidence" Clemont said as they all see Froakie getting closer to Onix's face.

"Follow it up with Water Pulse!" Ash yells as Froakie uses Water Pulse and shoots it straight to Onix's face hitting the target this time.

"Onix, Iron Tail!" Grant commands as Froakie lands

Onix's tail gets cover in white light and swings it at the Frog Pokémon

"Dodge it, quick!" Ash says as when Onix swings its tail Froakie leans backwards with the Iron Tail barely touching the water type Pokémon as Froakie does a handstand backflip "Now climb onto Onix!" Ash says as Froakie did as it was told. 

Froakie climbs up to Onix until it clings itself on Onix's face.

"Onix, shake Froakie off!" Grants tells Onix which the Rock Snake Pokémon shakes his head harshly in attempt to get Froakie off it.

"Froakie way to go!" Serena cheers.

"Yeah, Hang on tight!" Bonnie adds.

Ash swings his arm forward "Now finish it! Water Pulse!" Ash shout as Froakie hits Onix's face with Water Pulse for the second time before Onix falls on its back.

As dust was clearing the referee notices the swirls in Onix's eyes.

"Onix is unable to battle, Froakie wins!" the referee announces.

"Alright! FRTC rocked it hard" Ash cheered.

'That's one down for Grant' Eli thinks.

"Thanks, great job, Onix" Grant thanked the Rock Snake Pokémon before returning it to its pokéball "You are quite a surprise, Ash. It's exactly like what Viola warned me about; she advised me not to underestimate you, and she was quite correct"

"Best defense is a good offence, that's the way I battle" Ash tells Grant as his Pokémon agree.

Eli looks at Ash "Ash, you sure showed them how cool you are" he tells Ash making the ravenette male blush while Clemont and Gary frown "But don't get your head out of the game you still have one more Pokémon to beat" he warns Ash which the ravenette male snaps back to reality.

'I see looks like that training wasn't the only thing that motivated you' Grant thinks to himself before pulling out another Poké ball "Time for my second Pokémon. Tyrunt let's go!" grant yells as a new Pokémon appears in front of everyone.

"Tyrunt!" The Pokémon named Tyrunt roars.

Eli looks at the Pokémon surprise "okay, that's new" he says to himself as he pulls his Pokédex back out.

"Tyrunt, the Royal Heir Pokémon. Tyrunt's jaws are so big and powerful, it can crunch up a car. If it doesn't like something, it responds with a wild tantrum."

Eli put his Pokédex away "Tyrunt, we have to watch out for that big mouth and those sharp teeth" Eli then hears Ash noting himself.

"Ash should remember that Tyrunt is both a Rock-type and a Dragon type Pokémon" Clemont points out making everyone in the stands look at the blonde male.

"Dragon-type, too?" Serena question

"It sounds Pretty strong to me" Bonnie says.

the referee looks at Ash "Does the challenger wish to make a substitution now?" he questions.

"No thanks, I'm going to stick with Froakie, okay?" ash responded before looking over at Froakie who nod without looking back at its trainer.

"Alright Battle begin!" The Referee announces.

"Let's give it all we got, double team!" Ash makes the first move as Froakie multiplies into multiple clones of itself while it runs around Tyrunt.

Eli frowns 'Why I have such a bad feeling about this?' he questions himself.

"Rock Tomb!" Grant shout.

Tyrunt becomes outlined in white energy and raises its head. Multiple gray rocks outlined in white energy then form around its head in the shape of a ring, much to Ash and Froakie's surprise.

"Tyrunt, too?" Eli questioned.

"Froakie! You and Ash can do it!" Bonnie cheers.

Eli frowns as Braixen cheer meanwhile Sylveon watches the battle closely 'Unlike Onix's Rock Tomb Tyrunt's Rocks moves faster' he thinks.

Then, the rocks fall down on Froakie who barely dodges.

"Alright, Froakie, RTC now!" Ash tells as Froakie jumps and climbs on 

"Awesome Rock Tomb Climb and double team!" Bonnie states

Maddie crosses her arms with a small frown as Serena notice her "you're okay?" She questions the White Hair female.

"I just have a feeling that this isn't going to be a walk in the park with this one in comparison with Onix" Maddie tells Serena.

"I can agree with that" Maddie and Serena look at Whitley who watching the Strategy "I may know Grant little, but I can tell that he's the kind of guy who doesn't let the same strategy fool him more than twice" he adds.

"What a fascinating strategy" Grant says as he watches Froakie climbing on the Rock Tomb.

"Now Use Bubble!" Ash yells as Froakie releases several clear bubbles from its mouth at the Royal Heir Pokémon as Grant gasp with shock "We'll be able to get all the way up to the top" Ash says.

"I wouldn't be overly confident" Grant says making Ash look at the Gym Leader confusingly "Now Tyrun Jump!" the dark-skinned young man commanded as the Rock and Dragon type jump higher than Froakie much for everyone amazement.

"Wow what a jump!" Gary comment while nod agreeing with the tall brunette.

"Why I jinxed myself even when I'm not the one battling?" Eli questions himself as Sylveon and Braixen cry in question as well.

"Tyrunt, Draco Meteor!" Grant then yells as a sphere of bright orange energy forms inside of Tyrunt's mouth and is fired into the sky, where it explodes and releases several spheres of energy that rain down on Froakie's double team.

"Froakie, no!" Ash calls his Pokémon worriedly as he sees Froakie laying down on its back with swirls on its eyes.

"Froakie's unable to Battle, Tyrunt wins!" The referee announces as Tyrunt lands and roars.

Eli looks surprised at the outcome "Man he one shot Froakie" Eli mutters to himself nervously while holding onto his arms.

"Kay, Froakie, return!" Ash says as he returns Froakie to his Pokéball "That was an awesome job" he says to the Pokéball.

"Pika, Pika!" Pikachu agrees.

"Brai" Braixen looks down sadly that Froakie lost.

"Froakie gave them it's all we should be happy for it" Eli says to his Pokémon which Sylveon nods agreeing with Eli.

"Veon!" Sylveon cry happily agreeing with its trainer.

'Well to a Pokémon like Tyrunt, Marill would have a big advantage due to be a Water-Fairy type' Eli thinks while looking at Grant and Tyrunt 'but at the same time, I better be careful, due to the fact that his Pokémon can use Rock Tomb, they may not be as fast as Ash's Pokémon but I believe that each and every one of them can be able to keep up with their pace; will that be enough? only one way to find out' he adds looking even more determined.

"So, Ash, how do you like my Tyrunt? I'm especially proud of Tyrunt's strong legs and it's Rock Tomb is the absolute best of the best" Grant explains "And it's Draco Meteor just how will you climb that wall?" Grant then questions Ash as Tyrunt roars making Eli get a bit intimidated.

"Man, Dragon Types sure know how to look strong" he mutters to himself.

"You know what I think? The stronger the opponent the more fun the Battle! I'll deal with any wall you put up for me to climb" Ash says before pulling out another Pokéball "Alright, Fletchling, I choose you!" Ash yells making Eli look at his friend surprised.

"Fletchling!" The Tiny Robin Pokémon cries as it appears flapping its wings.

'Due to the fact that now Grant's at the type advantage, since Flying types are weak against rock types, but knowing Ash, he must be planning on something, but what?' Eli thinks as he sees Fletchling.

"Fletchling, Razor Wind!" Ash commands.

Fletchling's wings glow bright white, and it repeatedly waves them, causing bright white, crescent-shaped energy waves to be fired at the Tyrunt.

"Use Crunch!" Grant says as Tyrunt bites off the Razor wind leaving it unharmed much to everyone surprise.

"Tyrunt ate the move?" Serena question out of shock.

Clemont looks serious "Tyrunt's mouth and teeth are very strong" Clemont says as Gary writes down notes about Tyrunt.

"Alright, Fletching, use Double Team!" Ash tells the flying type Pokémon as it multiplies into multiple clones of itself flying around the battlefield "It's all or nothing, now! Steel Wing let's go! Fly straight in!" Ash then says.

Maddie hears this and holds back a laugh 'Straight' she thinks.

Fletchling's wings glow a metal-gray color and attempts to hit Tyrunt with them.

"Dragon Tail!" Grant said as Tyrunt jumps again.

"Tyrunt Jumping ability is simply incredible" Clemont commented while pushing up his glasses.

"It totally counters any aerial advantage" Gary adds.

Tyrunt's tail becomes covered in a green, scale-patterned aura. It then hits the clones with its tail while the real Fletchling hit the side of the Rock and Dragon type Pokémon's face, but it hit back leaving Fletchling falls harshly and faints.

The referee sees this "Fletchling is unable to Battle, Tyrunt wins!" he announces as Tyrunt lands and roars.

Ash returns Fletchling back to its Pokéball "you were great out there" Ash says to the Pokéball before looking down on his partner.

"Pika, Pika" Pikachu looks up at Ash determined to defeat Grant since is not the first time they both battle a rock type on their own.

Ash nod "Alright, buddy, it's up to you know" he says as Pikachu runs forward facing Tyrunt

"So it seems we've arrived at our final battle" Grant says

"I know what all of Tyrunt's moves are; all I've got to do is win" Ash responds.

Grant smiles "Your spirit is strong; although Rock Tomb Climb is quite creative it won't work against Draco Meteor" he states, "also Pikachu's electric type while Tyrunt is a rock and Dragon Type, Tyrunt clearly has the advantage" Grant says making Eli smirk while everyone looks at the Blue hair male.

Eli crosses his legs while his eyes were close "That May be true, but don't think that you're the first Gym Leader whoever told Ash such fact, sure you may have the type advantage but that means nothing to both Ash and Pikachu" Eli says while opening his eyes and looks at Grant with a light glare making Ash and Pikachu look at the blue hair boy with awe.

"Sylveon!" Sylveon cry at Pikachu cheering for the mouse Pokémon who then blushes.

Those words really moved Ash and Pikachu "Bring it on! Pikachu, Quick attack!" Ash yells while Pikachu gets outlined with white light before it begins to rapidly run forward.

"Tyrunt, Crunch!" Grant command as Tyrunt open its mouth and its teeth glow in a white light.

"Jump, Pikachu!" Ash tells Pikachu.

The Mouse Pokémon jumps on Tyrunt's head before jumping away.

"Draco Meteor!" Grant command as Tyrunt uses Drago Meteor.

"Iron Tail, Quick!" Ash yelled.

Pikachu's tail gets covered in white light and swings it hitting Tyrunt on the head while Pikachu is back in the air and sees the Draco Meteor falling before its eyes.

"Look out!" Serena screams worriedly.

"Pikachu's going to get hit!" Bonnie stated worried for the Electric type.

Gary crosses his arms "I have a feeling that this is something that Ash wants" he says making the others with the exception of Whitley whose eyes were on Grant most of the time.

"Pikachu, jump as high as you can! Now, go into Drago Meteor Climb!" Ash instructs Pikachu.

Pikachu uses its Iron Tail to climb on Tyrunt's Draco Meteor much to everyone surprise.

"Looks like Rock Tomb Climb" Serena comment.

Maddie nods "But only this time they turn it into Draco Meteor climb" she adds.

"No matter what happens you can never count Ash and Pikachu out" Clemont then says as Gary and Whitley nod.

Grant looks shocked at what he just witnessed "Look at that!" he states before noticing that Whitley isn't looking at him anymore but at Pikachu.

 Grant feel that his heart skipped a beat when he sees Whitley's blue-ish silver eyes shine through the sun light he shakes his head remembering that he's still in the middle of a battle.

"Tyrunt, Dragon tail!" Grant tells the Royal Heir Pokémon.

"Keep using Iron Tail!" Ash tells it's buddy.

Pikachu looks down as it sees Tyrunt jumping towards Pikachu with its green colored scale covered tail while Pikachu rotates its body and both Pikachu and Tyrunt swing their tails creating a smoke screen once both moves clashed together surprising everyone but unlike everyone Eli seems calmer out of everyone in the gym, heck even the referee was surprised.

Both Pokémon landed making Grant and Ash look at each other serious for a few seconds.

'Wow Grant's so cool! no wonder he won the noble title of Grand Duke at the Battle Chateau' Whitley dreamingly thought looking at the Gym Leader

"Excellent. Quite well-executed" Grant complimented the younger male.

Ash looks up at Grant "We keep on getting stronger even while we're battling" He tells the Gym Leader.

"And an exciting battle it is" Grant replies "To show my respect for your passion, I'm going to wrap this up with my favorite move; time for Rock Tomb!" Grant then says.

Ash nods "Well I'm ready for it!" Ash responds.

Tyrunt once again becomes outlined in white energy and raises its head. Multiple gray rocks outlined in white energy then form around its head and then throws them at Pikachu.

"Alright, deflect them with Iron Tail!" Ash tells Pikachu who jumps.

Once again Pikachu's tail gets covered with white light and swigs it at the Rock Tomb as if it's playing baseball with Tyrunt's Rock Tomb. Tyrunt roars at Pikachu before one of it's own rocks fall in its mouth shutting it up.

"Tyrunt!" Grant calls his Pokémon.

"What a mouthful" Bonnie comment as the others from the stands were relieved. 

"Now Tyrunt can't use Crunch, Pikachu can get in close" Clemont points out.

Eli smiles "Go for it you two!" Eli cheered.

"Sylveon!" Sylveon cry a cheery cry.

"Now, I'll wrap this up with my favorite move. Pikachu, use thunderbolt!" Ash tells Pikachu.

Pikachu generates electricity around its body and launches it at Tyrunt which it took the attack before it could even dodge making it crash to a bolder with swirly eyes while smoke comes out of its mouth.

"Tyrunt is unable to battle, Pikachu wins! Which means the match goes to the challenger, Ash!" the referee announces.

Ash runs up to Pikachu "You were so awesome, Pikachu, we won!" Ash tells Pikachu who cries happily but collapse exhaustedly.

Eli Sylveon and Braixen runs up to Ash "congratulations you two!" Eli tells both Ash and Pikachu.

Ash looks up at Eli with a smile "thanks, Eli!" he thanked the blue hair male.

"Sylveon" Sylveon cry nuzzling Pikachu who blushes and laugh.

Grant walks up to Tyrunt who then gets up and looks up at its trainer who kneel to its level "That Certainly turned into a heated and fearsome Battle, didn't it? Thank you so very much" he thanked his Pokémon who growls, Grant then looks back at Ash as the others then walk up to the Kantonian "Your Rock Tomb Climb really surprised me" he confesses as he gets back up "But the greatest surprise of all was having Pikachu use thunderbolt, which shouldn't have been that effective on Tyrunt a rock, and Dragon type" he says.

Ash looks back at Grant "Everyone was awesome!" he responds as his Pokémon cry agreeing with him "Thanks to Froakie, Fletchling, and Pikachu; this's a victory for all three of you" Ash confesses.

"Wonderful! by working together, you all managed to scale the wall that is known as the Cyllage City Gym battle" Grant then says as he walks up to our heroes and the referee walking up with a case that has the Gym badge in it, Grant then takes the badge out of the case and shows it to the group "As a Symbol of that, I present you with the Cliff Badge" Grant says showing off the Cliff Badge in hand before handing it to Ash.

Ash gladly takes the badge "Thank you so much, Grant" Ash thanked the Gym Leader before looking at his partner "we did it Pikachu; all that hard work paid off" Ash tells the Electric Mouse Pokémon on his shoulder.

"Pikachu!" Pikachu agrees.

"Alright! I won the Cliff Badge!" Ash state while posing with his now second Gym Badge that he won, Ash then puts the badge on his badge case right next to the bug badge that he won from Viola.

Whitley looks at Grant dreamingly "he really is cool" he mutters making Maddie look at him with a teasing smirk "I-Is not what you think!" Whitley tells Maddie.

Maddie rolls her eyes "I didn't say anything, Whitley" she responds before giggling.

"Maddie!" the white hair twin whined while everyone else in the Gym look at the twins confusedly.

Ash then looks at the blue hair male "Now is your turn, Eli; I'm sure you'll do great!" Ash then tells Eli.

Then nervousness begins to slowly take over Eli "I'm not sure how I'll be able to pull off comparing with your Rock Tomb Climb, but we'll try the best of our abilities" he says

"Sylveon!" Sylveon agrees.

"Braixen!" Braixen also agrees.

"Eli, I'm sure that you're ready because the Pokémon that you'll be battling aren't Onix and Tyrunt" Grant warns Eli.

This surprises the group Eli looks a bit hesitant but nods "I'm down for a challenge, the harder the better" he confidently says as Sylveon and Braixen cry agreeing with him.

Froakie goes to Braixen "Froakie!" Froakie cry at Braixen wish it luck making the fire fox Pokémon blush and cover its face with its paw while Froakie tilts it head confusingly.

Bonnie seems to realize this and giggles.

And So Ash has successfully defeated Grant the Cyllage City Gym Leader and earn his Second Gym badge; now it's Eli turn, will he be able to win the Cliff Badge too? Stay tuned as the journey continues.
