Chapter 12 - Charlie
Jane's freakout over the incident was understandable. She was practically picking up Sans the first moment she saw him, question after question asked about his safety before she took off towards the store. However, the survivors must had realized that someone was onto them, as they had taken off, resulting in an empty Walmart.
Her freakout was nothing compared to Sally's. Since Charlie was the only connection the poor girl had to her past, and was her first ever friend, losing him obviously sent her into a fit of tears. No matter what Sans did, Sally wouldn't be calmed. His only choice was to go back to the store and try to find Charlie.
Jane, of course, accompanied him, one arm wrapped around his shoulders, her other ready with a knife in case anyone showed up.
Sans didn't think they'd come back. If a zombie showed he was smart enough to create an elaborate trap, hopefully the survivors would think he was some weird mutant zombie and that their town was too dangerous to come back to. It'd help Jane out of some work and it would make their town safer.
"No bear here."
They both were standing in the same aisle where Sans had attacked the woman, a collection of ruined bottles and toilet paper thrown in random directions laying across the floor. But no bear.
"Wherrrrreeeehhhh Charrrlieegh?" Sans asked.
"Not here, apparently," Jane said, looking around the almost deadly silent store. "It looks like there's no survivors, it should be safe to split up and look around."
"Youuuggg want t'a guh checg out theeee clothes," Sans said.
"If the bear just so happens to be around a cute pair of slippers that'd go with your hoodie, who am I to judge?" Jane asked, hugging Sans to her side for a moment. "But I'll take this side and you can take the other side, the bear has to be around here somewhere."
The first five minutes of looking were simple. Sans would walk around, feet shuffling as he was on the lookout for the small bear. After those first five minutes, he became a little desperate. Picking up his pace, checking under and above things, desperate to make the little girl he claimed as his sister happy again. The bear was dropped right in the aisle, how far could it have gotten?
Sans turned a corner and almost sighed with relief, pressing a hand against his chest as he saw the bear laying upon a shelf. Oh, thank whatever lord was out there, the bear wasn't stolen. Charlie was okay!
Moving forward, Sans approached the bear, passing by a cooler in the process. If he were to admit, he'd do anything for Sally. She was like his family, much like Ben and Jeff were, he'd do anything for the people he cared about. Sans didn't know Jeff as much, as he was still new, but Sans knew they'd likely become good friends. Jeff was a good guy, Sans could tell.
Floor. Sans was colliding against the floor.
That's all he could process as he was practically slammed against the tiles, his legs kicking out from the sudden attack as his arms were pinned. Sans relented against his fighter, managing to get one arm out of the iron grip to flail upwards.
"Stop struggling Sans!"
Sans? How did they know his name?
"Stooopppp!" Sans gurgled, trying to scratch at the floor.
Sans never wanted to eat people. He's made that very clear. Ketchup, by far, would always be his favorite food of choice. For self defense, though, Sans started biting. He didn't know where, nor did he have any direction or flesh in sight, he just started to chomp his mouth around, anything to get away from this crazy lady.
"St- hgh!"
Sans suddenly found a gag forced between his teeth, a knee from the woman pressing her weight against his back as she started to tie his hands together. Sans tried to flail more, but his weak body was practically useless the moment he was pinned down. Kicking again didn't work, as she tied that up as well.
"F*cking Toby Fox Sans, calm down! Stop trying to bite me!"
The woman rolled him over, and Sans took the opportunity to pull back his legs and get one harsh kick with both of them to her face. Recoiling, she dropped her weapon, giving Sans sometime to try and roll away to the best of his ability.
"Get back here!"
Firm hands dug into his hoodie and dragged him back effortlessly. Since Sans had just kicked her face, her hood was now down, revealing a fish monster with dark red hair and blue scales to match the ocean. He didn't know who she was, nor did he care. Sans was tied up on the floor now, he didn't have Charlie, and Jane wasn't here.
"JJgggggggghhhh!" Sans tried to call out to his girlfriend, muffled by the gag.
Now dragging him up, the monster started to carry Sans towards the back of the building, bringing into sight a backdoor he hadn't noticed before. Once he realized that he was being kidnapped, Sans struggled harder, throwing his body around like a fish on water in her arms to try and escape any possible way.
He was going to be kidnapped to who knows where with this creepy survivor lady! Sans didn't like this!
"Hey, Sans, I-"
Jane paused as she walked around a corner, staring at the kidnapper that was holding Sans midair. The woman had froze as well, being caught by the only other survivor within the store. Sans was the one who broke through the ice of their confusion, wiggling his body and gurgling for his lover to come and save him.
Jane was quick as a bullet, reacting far faster than the other woman by throwing her knife and embedding the weapon into the wall next to the fish monster. It seemed luck wasn't on their side, as the monster regained her composure and ran outside, the sudden burst of sunlight blinding Sans as he was exposed to the outdoor air.
"Let him go!"
Unable to do anything but struggle against his binds, Sans could only listen to Jane and cry out to her as he was thrown against the inside of a vehicle, the door slamming shut before the front opened. The undeniable sound of a door being broken off of its hinges filled the air followed by the sound of an engine starting. Wait, Jane wasn't fast enough! Sans wasn't going to be saved!
Managing one last push of his shoulder, Sans managed to lift the upper half of his body up and look out of the back window as the car started to drive off, gaining one last look at his girlfriend as she started to disappear within the distance. The car speed up, the kidnapper stepping on it as she stole Sans away from everything he knew.
~~~~~~
"Mgggh! Erggghhhh!"
Sans banged his body around the backseat, almost rolling over into the foot space below. Sunlight continued to flash through the windows, sometimes being blinded by leaves or by buildings. Sans couldn't see where they were going, everytime he managed to get enough balance to catch a glimpse out the window, a sudden turn or increase of speed would send him right back against the seats.
"Stop whining! I'm not going to kill you! At least not yet!" The woman said from the front seat.
Sans tried to bite down against the gag, twisting his skull around. Maybe if he managed to break through the belt wrapped around his wrists, he'd be able to-
A sharp jerk of the car had Sans baralling against a wall, a sharp groan being smacked out of his throat from the impact.
"Don't you dare bite me! I'll kill you!" The woman threatened, likely scared of the noise he made.
No doubt she was driving fast because she was scared. After all, she was trapped within an enclosed space with a zombie, one who wasn't very happy with her and was flailing constantly. But it was her own fault she was in that position. She kidnapped him!
Sans didn't know why she did, or why she knew his name. Either way, he didn't care. She was kidnapping him from his friends, from his family, from his girlfriend. Would they be able to find him? Or would Sans end up another pile of dust on the floor?
He didn't like this. He didn't like this at all. Who was this woman? What did she want?
Sans didn't want to try and bite her again, no doubt she was on the lookout for that. As the car rumbled down the road, he tried to secure a type of plan. Whatever happened with his last escape, he doubted it would occur again. He didn't even know how he escaped. His best option would be to break out of his binds then get out of the car. But the car was going too fast, if he managed to jump out at this speed, he'd definitely break his legs. That wouldn't be a good situation to be inside of. On the side of a road, somewhere random, with two broken legs. The girl would just stop the car and go grab him. He'd escape when the car stopped.
After awhile of driving, finally did the car stop, giving Sans the chance to escape. He managed to twist out of his binds on his hands, using the new freed fingers to undo his leg bindings. Sans threw open the door, the gag halfway undone.
Click.
A gun was pointed towards him, the fish monster standing in front of the open door, yellow eyes narrowed in his direction.
"Don't try me," She said.
