Chapter 10 - Meeting
Days had come and go, and adjusting to the constant presence of Jeff was rather unusual. Jane hated him, that was clear. Overtime, Jeff grew to dislike her as well, and they formed a friend/enemy type relationship was one another. It was interesting to watch.
But the most interesting change to watch was Sans and Jane. Ever since Sans learned how to say "I love you" to her, he's been saying it nonstop, like a puppy who learned how to roll over and wanted to constantly show off. He did learn a few other words, mainly ketchup and sleep.
However, he screwed it over for the rest of them. Since Sans proved zombies could learn how to talk again, Jane decided to force everyone else to practice how to talk as well. It wasn't fun. Ben didn't like it. His mouth hurt after awhile of talking.
Today was the day of the meeting between zombies and Jane, and no one was really sure how it would go. Hopefully good. Fingers crossed.
"Cuddles."
Sas pulled at Jane's hand, standing next to her at the table as she looked over her notes a few hours before everyone was going to meet. Since a lot of clocks weren't powered, and since most zombies don't know how to read the older type of clocks, the meeting was set to be held when the sun rose. There was a large town square where Jane would be meeting with them, and everyone was told to spread the news and to bring material to write with for questions.
"Sans, I'd love to, but I'm double checking these," Jane said, petting his skull.
"Cuddles!"
Sans pulled at her hand before grumbling, looking down at the papers. Seeing she wouldn't bulge, he worked around the problem, instead plopping down onto her lap to cuddle with her that way, wrapping his arms around her neck and settling his head onto her shoulder. Jane chuckled, wrapping on arm around his waist to hug him back as she reviewed her notes.
Hopefully this would go well.

Under the rising sun people sat upon the bricks, a few zombies standing in the back, idly by as Jane continued to talk. She rotated a knife in her hand, not for threat, but out of simple habit. Ben and Jeff sat off towards the side, playing Sonic on a DS with one another. Sally sat next to Sans, gently playing with Charlie.
"... There are some farms nearby that some zombies could get started on," Jane said, "But you will have to use gloves and keep yourselves clean. And i guess that's my basic starting plan. I won't be able to guard the entire town, but I have discovered that the phone towers are still functioning, so if you all could find phones from stores or houses and use those I could probably use that for mass communication. I think that's how we can get our basic start, and we can figure some stuff out as we go."
"The group of zombies around me will be helping me with things, but in the end I'm in charge. I'll protect you all from survivors, I'll keep you all safe, but you have to fully cooperate and listen to me to do so. Is that clear?"
A grumble went across the crowd, everyone agreeing.
"For now, I think it'd be best if you all moved into houses for living situations and stay out of stores in case other survivors try to raid them. If you do see other survivors, warn me immediately, and I'll deal with them. I don't mind if more zombies join out town, but I intend to be the only survivor here. They're dangerous, stupid, and frankly, only care about self preservation. Not to mention how it'll only cause confusion and lots of death if they enter. Any questions about the function of our town?"
No one questioned, which prompted Jane to continue. She even bounced the knife between her fingers with skill, letting the blade slide through the air, a deadly weapon only fiercely more scary when held by Jane.
Sans leaned against his hand. He could watch her all day. He loved it when she terrified other people.
"Now onto the rules," Jane said, "First off, I'm in charge, like I said. None of that rebellion bullsh*t. This is the end of the world, and I'm going to keep you all alive. But that means I'm in charge. I don't deal with crap, so no excuses to me, just the plain and honest truth. We aren't going to be sexist, racist, we aren't going to judge if you're old, a kid, or you had your arm bitten off. None of that sh*t. I'm the leader because I know what I'm doing, you guys listen, don't bully or harm each other, and we're good. You're dead, anyway, so there's no point in bothering to try and be mean to others for things they can't control. If a zombie is missing two legs, I expect you to find him a wheelchair and help. We're in this together, and I'm here to make sure no one dies. So I'm in charge. You can leave if you don't like that, but you'd be giving up your rights to my protection. Are we clear?"
Everyone agreed, a few nodding, others sticking up their thumbs. No doubt having been zombies for awhile, they all were fully ready to have a strong leader protect them.
"Second rule. No hoarding food, no eating people. I'm not sure if zombies can go an entire day without eating, or if that was just a Ben thing, but food goes around to everyone. As I said earlier, we'll have to set up farming, but there's plenty enough food in all of the stores to last the entire town a good while. Don't be selfish, or I will hang you on this flag pole behind me." Jane motioned behind her with her knife. "And yes, I do mean I will actually impale you on there. There is plenty food, no need to be stupid about it."
"And, finally, here is the third rule."
Jane stood up and walked over to Sans, unexpectedly picking him up and holding out the now flustered zombie for the crowd to see.
"This is my boyfriend, his name is Sans," Jane said, before she hugged him against her front. "He's mine. If anyone so much as gives him a papercut, tries to flirt with him, anything, I will brutally murder you. I don't share my things, especially not my boyfriend. And if he so happens as to die, I will kill every single person in this town then myself. Is that clear?"
Sans grumbled, embarrassed out of his mind as he covered his intensely blushing face. Out of the crowd, he could hear lots of talking, but the loudest voice he heard yell was "I ship it".
Well, that was embarrassing.
~~~~~~
"I just have to make sure no one tries to flirt with you."
Jane and Sans carried down the street that night, hands intertwined on their way to their first date. Sans was a blushing mess, his free hand covering his cheek as he shuffled along.
"You're mine, and I'm yours, we aren't a poly relationship, and I don't like it when others think they can just come in and flirt someone out of a relationship," Jane said, squeezing his hand. "I didn't mean to embarrass you. Next time I'll make a slideshow of your face."
Sans grumbled incoherent sounds, further ducking into his hoodie to hide his bright blue face. A few zombies passed by them, yelling out positive things about how cute they were, causing the flustered skeleton to only glow more blue.
"You're right, your face is too adorable, they'd all just want to flirt with you if I made a slideshow," Jane said, "But it's okay. I won't go flashing you around anymore since it makes you uncomfortable. I'm still going to keep you for myself, though."
Sans smiled gently, squeezing back her hand as he leaned against her. Yeah, he was cool with that. He liked her being a little possessive, and she did warn him about it, Sans was into it. Her strong personality was what drew him in, he didn't want to be that stereotypical guy who only owned the girl, no, he liked the role reversal. Jane could be in charge, and he was extremely okay with it.
"I love you," Sans repeated.
"I love you too," Jane said, "Now let's go to that picnic spot so I can make out with you."
