Chapter 23 Mia

I was in Armen's classroom just as he had told us. I was sitting where I sat the day before. I was waiting for Drake and Grayson to come. If I only I was with April the whole day. I needed somebody to guide me. We were all clueless. Luckily we were all together all day. I don't know what would happen if I didn't have Drake and Grayson with me.

After a while, I saw Drake walk into the room. He immediately spotted me and almost ran to me.

"How was it once you got home yesterday?" I asked him. "Did you figure out your clarinet?"

"Yes," he said. "I actually picked it up and played it out of some instinct."

"Same here. What else did you do?"

"Why are you so interested?"

"Because I was forced to do chores all day yesterday."

"I told Angelina."

"What do you mean?"

"I told my sister everything. I even got a memory from this world. It was the day she was born."

"Do you think the rest of us could get our memories?"

"Probably, we just have to find the key words."

I looked up and saw Grayson approach us.

"Are you okay?" I asked once he was near.

"Yah," he said. "I'm fine."

"Grayson, what happened?" Drake asked. He could tell Grayson was flustered.

"This morning was strange," he said. "My dad was drunk and thought it was the weekend and wouldn't let me leave to come here. I snuck out the window and took Jack as a stowaway. Then I found the neighbors and they brought me here. Nobody realized how hectic it was for me."

"It's okay," I said. "Soon we will all be with Armen." I tried to stay on the bright side of things. I didn't want to make this world as horrible as it really was.

"Ok class," Armen said as he moved to the front of the room. "Let's start this brand new day."

Armen went on and on about his expectations. How he wanted us to behave and how it might be different from what Mr. Marlin taught us. I was lost. I pretended to pay attention. I'm sure Drake and Grayson did the same thing.

After class Armen pulled us aside.

"You all okay?" he asked.

We all nodded our heads. But I was surprised Grayson didn't talk about how he got to school that morning.

"Alright," Armen started. "Continue the day as we discussed. You'll just go to all of your classes. I can't stress how much you need to pay attention in class. If you get bad grades, I can't imagine how your parents will respond. Or your orphan care takers."

We all left the room just as everybody else had. We even stopped at our lockers to get the things we needed. We double checked with each other to be sure. Right as I was finishing up I felt somebody walk up behind me. I expected to see Drake or Grayson, but no. They were still at their lockers. We were so far apart, yet so close. Instead there was a girl behind me. She was in Armen's class with me.

"Hey little Mia," she said. She smirked as she pushed me aside to access he locker that was above mine. I was lower to the floor than I already was. I didn't even want to imagine what was down there.

"Oh, sorry. I didn't see you there." She smirked again.

"Yes you did," I mumbled. I was trying my best to keep from getting into another fight.

"Leave here alone," I heard Grayson say. Both Drake and Grayson helped me up and we all stood confidently. We weren't going to let this girl bother us.

"Awe, would you look at this. Her little nerd friends are trying to be helpful. Well, you boys aren't. You're disgusting and I can't believe my ex-best friend wants to hang out with you. I can't believe you stooped down so low."

One of the girls that I was assuming was her friend pushed me again. But this time I didn't go down, Drake caught me.

"What are you going to do about it?" she said as she saw my aggravation. I felt Drake grab the back of my arm. He was trying to keep me from retaliating.

"I'm going to do this," I said. I bent down, picked up my stuff, and closed my locker. As I was beginning to walk away I said, "I would really like to chat, but I need to get to my next class."

"Wow," Grayson said once we were at at a safe distance. "I thought you were going to rip her throat out."

"But I didn't," I stated. "I can control my anger. Sometimes I just don't want to."

We continued on. We were way more confident then we were the day before. We were ready for whatever this world threw at us.
