Blackmail
Hermione Granger arrived back home after going to the store when she noticed a crisp white envelope placed upon her entryway table. Curious, she made her way over and picked it up to study it. She wasn't expecting anything from Ron or Harry and her Hogwarts letter wasn't due to arrive yet, but those all usually came by owl. Glancing around she concluded that there was no sign an owl was here. Studying the envelope once more, Hermione noticed that it only said her name on the front in beautiful calligraphy. Turning it over, she then proceeded to open it careful not to make any tears in the white envelope. She brought out one sheet of paper, with the same beautiful calligraphy on it, and began to read the following:
Miss Granger,
I know your secret. That's a very bad thing you did and if you don't want the rest of the Wizarding World to find out, I suggest you meet me at Hampstead Heath Extension this evening at 6 o'clock. I hope to see you there.
Hermione Granger was never one to do bad things - or anything remotely against the law, but seeing this note, with the pristine cursive handwriting, brought back all those memories and she decided she didn't want anyone else finding out about her big secret.
Draco Malfoy was never one to receive any sort of letter, so when he noticed a white envelope addressed to him on his kitchen counter he was immediately intrigued. He picked it up and ripped it open, brining out a single sheet of paper with a letter written in calligraphy on it. Leaning against the counter, he read the following:
Mr. Malfoy,
I know your secret. You've done some pretty bad things and if you don't want the rest of the Wizarding World to find out, I suggest you meet me at Hampstead Heath Extension this evening at 6 o'clock. I hope to see you there.
Draco was confused. What secret? He has too many secrets for this person to possibly know about them all. In that moment, Draco decided he didn't want any of his secrets exposed to the Wizarding World. He was going to meet with this mysterious person and find out what they know.
At 15 'till 6, Hermione left her house to meet at the designated location. It wasn't a long walk nor was it a short one, but it gave her some time to think things through. Why exactly she was conceding to this blackmailer was unbeknownst to her. She shouldn't have to worry about her secret being exposed. It wasn't super bad or illegal, just frowned upon. She walks into the park with five minutes to spare and notices the only other person there is someone she was meant to despise, Draco Malfoy. She wonders what he is doing here since, the last she knew, he lived about 2 hours away in his manor.
Draco never was one to give in to blackmailers, but at 3:30 he found himself leaving the manor to make the long drive to London. He had no idea why he was doing this. He really should have just ignored the note and went about his life, but a part of him was intrigued by what the blackmailer knew, or better yet, didn't know. He hears footsteps approaching and turns his attention to the direction they're coming from. He sees the one person he never thought he'd see again, Hermione Granger.
Draco notices Hermione walking towards him with an unmistakable frown across her face. He tries to give her a small smile, but gives her a mischievous smirk instead.
"What do you think you're doing here, Malfoy?" Hermione demands, almost yelling, "You're a little far from home."
"Why don't you mind your own damn business, Granger," Draco sneers, nearly spitting, "Besides, I should be asking you the same thing. Shouldn't you be home practicing spells or proper wand waving or something?"
"You think you're so funny, Malfoy, but you're not. You're just a sad boy who has daddy issues."
"You shut your mouth, filthy mudblood!" Draco is over to Hermione in a heartbeat, pointing his wand in her face.
Unbeknownst to them, the blackmailer lies in wait. Anxiously awaiting an opportune time to strike. They lie beyond the the edge of the park watching - anticipating Draco and Hermione's every move. They see Draco and Hermione slowly moving closer Now it's just a matter of time before they're in the perfect position to obliviate them.
Come on, just a little bit closer. And, now!
The blackmailer steps out from their hiding place just as Draco and Hermione walk past.
"Obliviate!" They yell, pointing their wand at the pair.
Draco and Hermione don't have any time to react before any memories of the Wizarding World are stripped from them. They look around confused, wondering what they are doing at this park so late in the evening. Still confused, they brush it off and go to a nearby bench to talk since they assume they're old friends instead of enemies.
The blackmailer chuckles quietly to themselves and disappears into the night having accomplished their goal.
Have fun in the Muggle world, you two.
