As planned L's legacy was poured out if the top windows of the buildings.  As expected the people that supposedly supported Kira forgot why they were there and started trying to grab as much of the money as the could. The other SPK members and I were putting on our fake uniforms. We waited in them until the police finally arrived. I turned to the others. Hope looked really uncomfortable because she had to stuff her tail into her trousers.

"Lets go, this is our window of opportunity. We can leave via the front exist." I said picking up my favourite toy robots, I just couldn't leave them behind. Each of us buried ourselves in with the police, with our helmets on we started following them out of the building. We couldn't be recognised by anyone. I knew Kira needed both a name and a face to kill, so even if he did see my face he couldn't kill me but I wasn't planning to even let him have that much. From the corner of my eye I could see Hope. She was a few policemen away from me. All I wanted was to move and be able to walk beside her. She must be scared, she had never been this out in the open for the public to see before. It one thing went round the fact of her existence would be relieved to the whole world. That was something the government had tried to hide for so long. I imagine she is scared of people finding out because they convinced her that people wouldn't be happy if they saw her. I started to get angry, angry at the government. It wasn't a smart move but I hated the fact that they had made Hope believe that what she was was a bad thing. When really I think she is the most beautiful thing that walked this earth. We followed the police all the way back to the police station and only there when we were safe did we take off. Hope took off her helmet and sighed heavily, she looked a little worn out. As I passed her I gently placed a hand on her shoulder. She looked up at me and smiled letting me know she was okay. Anthony was talking to the policemen letting them know what has happening.

"Near, what are we going to do now?" Asked Halle. I had only shared this plan with Anthony so they all had no idea what was going on. I wasn't going to tell them but when I looked around and saw Hope looking at me expectantly I couldn't withhold the information because she wanted to know.

"We have another secret base set up."

"Another base?" Repeated Stephan.

"Yes, it's much smaller than the other one but not that that makes a difference since there is only 5 of us."

"Why didn't you tell is of this plan?" Asked Halle.

"Because this plan was set up in the very beginning. I only told Commander Rester because I didn't know who else to trust. It wasn't something I did to upset you, I believe it was necessary."

"But..." Halle began but she stopped quickly. When I looked I saw that Hope gently placed a hand on her arm. Everyone was staring at Hope but she was only looking at Halle.

"Near did the right thing. He is the only reason we are alive right now. If it was up to us then we would probably still be stuck in that building. He was smart enough to have a back up plan in case something like this happened."

"I know but..." She began again.

"Halle, I know how you feel about this. I must admit that it hurts to know that Near doesn't trust us completely but what he did he did with good reason. We must trust him." Then she looked at me and said..."he is the one leading this investigation."

Eventually we got to the second base. It didn't take us long because it wasn't that far from the police station. Everyone was moving around setting up the computers. Hope was drawing in a new drawing pad Halle got her when she went shopping. She was really concentrating on it and she looked happy. I smiled slightly to myself but covered it up.

"Commander Rester please set up a connection to L." I said and he obeyed instantly. "This is Near." I said once the connection was up. "We have re established a secure connection so I thought I should give you a call to let you know."

"Your safe. That's a relief." Yeah right, I thought.

"To all of you on the task force, I'm sure that by now some of you are starting to suspect that Kira may be one of you. Given the timing of todays attack in our headquarters I don't think anyone could blame you for having doubts. If you don't suspect the second L of being Kira by now, your in the wrong line of work." I paused. "The number I gave you the day before has been re connected, please feel free to call any time you like. Well then I'll be waiting for your call." Then I hung up. Hope was stood beside me.

"Putting doubt into there heads to gain information huh?" She said. I smiled at her and she went back to drawing in her notebook.

The next few hours passed and nothing much really happened. I was sat at a table playing with my dice with Hope sat next to me. She was looking at all the files on the members of the Japanese Task force that I asked Anthony to print off.

"What do you think?" I asked her.

"I think the most likely to call is this one." She said handing me a piece of paper. On it was a man named Shuichi Aizaw.

"Why do you think that?" I asked.

"Well, this is the guy most likely to become the leader of the NPA after Light Yagami of course." She said passing me another piece of paper.

"Why do you think it will be him and not Light?"

"Simply because Shuichi Aizawa is so much older. He has more experience. Light is only 23, even though he is very smart the police force wouldn't make him the boss it would be a stupid move. An idiot can see that plus I believe that Light Yagami may be the second L, aka Kira."

"You think?"

"Well, I can't be sure."

"No, of course not." Then the phone rang. I looked around and saw Stephan come up to me with a phone. He held it to my ear while I carried on building my dice structure. Hope leaned in closer so she could her the conversation though I couldn't help but noticed that my heart skipped a beat when she did.

"Yes this is Near." I said.

"I'm with the Japanese task force. My name is Aizawa." I took a side glance at Hope and saw she was smiling. Her deduction was completely correct. I smiled and tipped the remaining dice out of the box. For a few minuets I listened silently as he explained everything to me. "I see." I finally said. "That's very interesting. Your saying there were two suspects in the Kira investigation that the previous L detained for more than 50 days and they were cleared because of the 13 day rule correct?"

"Yes, but of course that alone doesn't prove they were Kira."

"And L was willing to release them because of that?"

"No, L had deputy director Yagami, the chief detective at the time put on an act. He was instructed to tell the suspects that they had both been found guilty of being Kira and the second Kira and that they were going be executed. Then on the way the deputy director pulled over and pointed a gun at the suspects. He said that he would first kill Kira then himself. The idea was that if he were Kira, the suspect would have killed the chief then and there." He paused. Kira is quite impressive, he must have used his detainment to prove his innocence, well done, I thought.

"Out of curiosity did the suspect volunteer to be detained as part of the investigation." There was silence on the other end. "If he did then I think that settles the matter don't you? So, you were those two suspects?"

"I can't tell you that much. I'm willing to corporate but I'm still a member of the Japanese task force working under L."

"I understand. Thank you very much, your information has been quiet valuable, especially the part about Shinigami eyes that allows you to see a persons name just by looking at them, it was very help full goodbye." I said and then hung up. The room was very silent for a while.

"Will that be enough Near? Shouldn't you have pressed for a little more information?"

"I think that all things considered his level of corporation's fine for now and besides I discovered something very important. The person that was suspected of being Kira is Director Yagami's son. It's the only possible explanation. Why else would the deputy director say that he would kill Kira and then himself. Therefore that means that Kira and the person I suspect of being L can only be one man, Light Yagami."
