I sat on the head of my bead with my knees up to my chest, hugging a pillow and crying into it. I was angry, frustrated and upset all at the same time. The fact that Near could just give up his life so easily like it was nothing hurt me. I cared about him, and Mello. I had only really loved a few people in my life and two of them were taken away from me. If Near and Mello died too, that would only really leave me with Matt and I had no idea where he was. The thought of them dying was what hurt. I didn't want them too. Working in the Kira case meant putting their lives on the line but the way Near just said it, like it didn't matter. We should be trying to solve this case without anyone else dying. The death of most of the SPK members is enough. Life is important, that's why we can't just throw it away like that. I heard footsteps and then I knock on the door. From the sounds of it, it was Near. I quickly got up, wiped my face and tried to make it seem as though I hadn't just spent the last half and hour crying my eyes out into a pillow. My eyes were red and puffy but there wasn't much I could do. I opened the door to let him in without saying a word. I didn't look at him either, I just opened it and then went to sit back down on my bed. Near closed the door and sat down at the foot of the bed facing me. He placed a toy robot in his lap and started fiddling with it. There was a moments silence, as I looked out the window.

"I am really sorry." Said Near quietly.

"It's fine, I over reacted."

"No, you didn't. I didn't think about what I was saying, it was stupid." I looked at him. He looked up at me until our eyes met. "Are you okay now?"

"I'm okay."

"Really? You don't look it." I laughed slightly.

"Thanks Near. Makes me feel a lot better." He gave me a little side smile.

"They said no to my idea anyway." I felt relieved at this information.

"Good, was it the second L that said no?" I asked.

"He had to ask the others first but yes it was."

"Well if he had to ask the others then that to me is more proof he is Kira." Near's face looked a little confused.

"How so?"

"Any normally person would have rejected the idea straight away, the fact he had to ask the others means he was thinking about agreeing to it but didn't because that would clearly make him more of a suspect. My thoughts is he probably turned to them hoping they would agree to it, that why he would get rid of both you and Mello without causing any more suspicion."

"Yes, that makes sense. I didn't think of it like that." Then Anthony burst into the room.

"Near, switch on the tv." He said. I grabbed the tv remote from my bedside table and flicked it on. I saw a glass building on the tv and a crowd of rioters outside. I didn't know what the big deal was but then I realised that it we our building. The one the SPK live in. There was a helicopter and I recognised the reporter. He was Hitoshi Demegawa, the host of Sakura TV's show. He claimed to be Kira's spooks person and did his will and now he was attacking us because we were trying to capture us. If Kira went to such expense as his then he must be pretty desperate to get rid of us. 

"This is Demegawa live. My comrades and I have finally pin pointed the location of evil organisation bent on trying to catch out beloved God Kira. We now have the building completely surrounded."

"What should we do?" Asked Anthony. I was surprised that when he asked it he looked at both Near and I in turn, not just Near which he usually does.

"Do not worry. I thought something like this might happen. We just need to remember that these people are really just selfish and only supporting Kira out of fear of being killed by him. Are the other in the main room?"

"Yes." Anthony replied simply.

"Than that is where we should be." He said standing up looking at me. Then he sighed slightly and left while I followed out behind Anthony.

The tv was turned on and Demegawa was still shouting into his microphone.
"I urge you not to storm the building all at once the traitor might attempt to escape by blending in with the crowd. I am Kira's spokesmen, you must listen to me. I know, bring them out if the buildings and put them in front of the cameras, they will be a sacrifice to Kira." The camera showed people bashing the windows with lead pipes and others cheering. What were we going to do? I looked at Near who was calmly sat in the floor watching the tv. He had lined all his robots in a line and was staring at them. Then the second L came on the line.

"Near, you've got no choice you have to evacuate." His voice was smug and it made me want to punch him.

"You've got some nerve saying that you being Kira."

"What? Are you still going on about that?"

"Think about it, with all the anti - Kira groups around why is it that were being targeted and right after I start suspecting you. Pretty convenient if you ask me." He said flicking one of his robots down.

"Near, with all due respect. You're wrong your jumping to conclusions."

"Members of the task force, please listen to me, Kira is likely among you. Even as we speak he is in that room. I am simply asking you to think about this carefully." The other end went silent just as we heard a huge explosion outside.

"The first wave of twenty people will break the door and get inside." Said Demegawa on the tv. "The second wave stand by." Then it showed people inside the riot fighting. Did this guy really think that he could control something like this? These people will do anything to make it seem to Kira like they are on his side.

"Near, we have to evacuate immediately."

"Really? What pathetic people. I'm not surprised that they are ordinary people who are supporting what Kira is trying to do." He knocked down another if his lined robots. "I'm talking about how the citizens believe that by punishing evil in their hearts Kira will actually make this world a better place to live." Then he knocked over a third. "But as for this crowd outside, they are a completely different breed. They are truly despicable and stupid." He knock down another robot. "This is just a diversion for them." He knocked down another before looking up at the tv scene. "They are all just selfish." He knocked down one more, now there was only one standing.

"I know that but it still leaves us with the immediate problem." Near then began to pick up his robots and put them in his arms.

"We will us L's legacy and the SPK protesters we hired."

"Yes but we only have one shot with that plan."

"I'm aware of that but I can't imagine a better time to do it. Besides it should be interesting." What were they talking about? I didn't know anything of this. Near had picked up all the robots he knocked down, but not the one he left standing...
