I was sat in the back seat of the black car. Watari was driving and there was nobody else with us. I was still happy drawing but I was really only doing it to keep my mind of what was about to happen.

"Heidi." Watari spook to me looking through the rear view mirror. I looked up at him. "When we get there I will take you to Roger in the main office. He is a close friend of mine and in charge of running the orphanage when I am not there. He will want to see what you can do and will ask you todo a puzzle for him. I will also not be able to stay with you. Once you are settled in I will have to leave. I am meant to be in Japan right now working a case with L, but he let me come and personally take you to the orphanage." Watari had told me that L had grown up at Wammy's house too and that he was the greatest detective and that the children at Wammy's house are being groomed to one day become his successor.

"I understand and thank you for everything you have done for me." I told him with a nod. Then I went back to drawing and the rest of the car journey was done in complete silence...

I got out of the car and was faced with a tall black gate. There was a large open field and a old looking building with steps leading up to the door. Watari came around the car and took my hand.

"Come on." He said gently and opened the black gate. There was no one around at the orphanage. The halls were empty and there was a strange silence. Though for me it was better as I did well in silence. Watari guided me through the halls and into a office never letting go of my hand. Although I was 12 I had never really been confident around anyone because I had little to no experience of being around other people. When we were in the office I looked around everywhere. Taking in the whole layout of the room. Watari said that this Roger guy was a good friend of his and that I could trust him but still I was nervous. The man behind the desk looked quiet old. He had grey hair and bushy eyebrows with round glasses that were perched on the end of his nose. He stood up and walked over to me smiling, then he held out his hand.

"It is very nice to meet you Heidi, I am Roger." I gingerly took his and and shook it without saying a word. Then he gestured for me to follow him over to the desk. I looked up at Watari who nodded encouragingly before I followed him over to the desk. I perched nervously on the edge of one of the two chairs that were in front of the desk. Roger sat behind the desk and produced a puzzle from under it. "I need to ask you to complete this puzzle for me. It is completely white and that is what makes it so much harder." He slides a empty board and the pieces to make the puzzle in a small plastic bag. I nodded and took the bag with the puzzle pieces out of the bag. I spread them out so that I could see every pieces. I saw Watari come up to stand beside me. Then I looked at every piece then the board. I mentally fitted them all into place. I saw Roger give a worried glance at Watari. He was obviously confused at why I had not moved at all. Watari just gave him a little nod as if to tell him that I knew what I was doing. Not only did I know what I was doing but I was also very aware that I was being timed as Roger's eyes kept drifting down to his lap. After looking at the pieces for just under a minute I had completed the puzzle in my mind, all that was lift to do was put then all in place. My hand worked with great speed as I picked up any random piece and fitted it in place. In the next minute the puzzle was complete and I looked up at Watari and saw the proud smile on his face and knew I had done well. I looked at Roger and saw the complete shock on his face, then he brought up his hand to reveal a small timer.

"1 minute and 55 seconds. That is only 1.2 seconds slower than Near. Watari she really is amazing. She will have to meet both Near and Mellow as she could very well be in the running for L's successor." The Roger's face became more serious. "But what do we do about everything else?" He asked looking at both me and Watari. I sighed knowing what he was referring too. Slowly I took on my black sunglasses, then I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up at Watari with my red eyes.

"You don't have to do that if you don't want to."

"I know but you said I would be safe here. I am tired of hiding what I am. So you can tell everyone here if you want. As long as they do not mention it to anyone outside there should be no problem. You also said you trusted this man. If you trust him then it is enough for me because I trust you." I replied before taking of my hat and coat. I stood in that office with everything that the government had tired to hide about me. Roger stood there looking at me tail and ears in wonder and amazement, but what really shocked me is that there was no disgust in his eyes like I expected there to be.

"I will show you to your room Heidi." Said Watari. Just as we were about to leave Roger called out to us again.

"And Heidi?" I turned to face him without saying a word. "Here in Wammy's house we tend not to use our real names and so if anyone asks your name tell them it is Hope. Also the most accomplished children are given a letter and yours will of course be a H. I will bring Near and Mellow to meet you in your room later." I nodded and turned to leave with Watari following close behind.
