Prologue

Moon's POV

Moon was horrified. No matter how many times she saw the destruction of Jade Mountain, it was still terrifying. If anything, each time it got WORSE.

The bone-crushing thuds and crashes of boulders hitting the ground.

The ear-shattering screams of dragons.

The rumbling and shaking ground.

The cracking thunder.

And under it all, was Darkstalker, laughing, of all things.

Moon could never be sure whether that actually happens in the future, or if her paranoia was seeping into her dreams from the waking world.

CRACK.

Moon watched as a particularly large Boulder detached itself from the crumbling mountain, and fell, towards her. The last thing Moon heard was her own terrified shriek.

The sound of the whistling wind reached Moons ears first. Slowly, she open her eyes to see basically nothing, except the swirling snow. It was dark, and Moon could barely see her own talons. A sense of foreboding filled Moon to her horns. As strange as this dream was, least she wasn't cold. Or at a crumbling Jade Mountain.

Turning in a circle, Moon saw a flickering glow in the distance. Seeing as there wasn't anything else to do, she started walking towards it.

When Moon reached it, she saw it was a small fire. As Moon watched, the clouds cleared above it, revealing a starry night sky, and the snow melted, showing green grass. When she sat beside the fire, the disappearance of the snow continued outward. Feeling comfortable, Moon began to relax, for the first time ever in the dream world.

Then promptly woke up.

Moon blinked blearily, and looked around. Winter had told her his suspension about Pyrite the night before. She wasn't sure she believed him, but looking at Pyrite, sleeping a little ways away, she couldn't help wondering if she was an animus. Winter himself was sleeping a little closer, but not by much. Kinkajou was sleeping between them, about a tail-length away from Moon. Meanwhile, Qibli was keeping watch on her other side.

Moon found herself staring at him for a little longer than she should. After realizing that, she quickly looked away before Qibli could notice. For some reason, she got a warm, fluttery feeling inside her chest whenever she was around him.

Maybe someday she would find out what it was.

Heeey just rewriting this entire book, after realizing how many mistakes it had. Then I will get to the next chapter (actually I will probably finish the whole book then publish it but never mind that) I might finish rewriting the already published chapters tomorrow (that's a big maybe) um I have nothing else to say move along people, move along
