Moon's POV

Moon watched as the two Icewing brothers turned, and flew away. Qibli was called out to Winter, and Moon could faintly hear him say that they'd miss him. All Moon could do was watch the pale blue dots grow faint. She couldn't move. First Kinkajou, then Winter. At least Kinkajou can't help that she's unconscious. Winter left because he wanted to. Moon had thought he was their friend. But he had made it clear when he left that they weren't. Fine. If he didn't want to friends, then he could have his way. They wouldn't be friends. It didn't matter though; he had left and he wasn't coming back.

Moon felt a warm wing on her shoulder. She turned to see Qibli sitting next to her, smiling. At least she still had one friend with her. Though, she couldn't see how he was smiling right now.

"Hey," he comforted, "you don't need to cry. Winter doesn't know what he's missing," as he was speaking he reached forward and brushed a tear away from one of her eyes.

Moon sniffed and wiped the other one with her talon. She hadn't even realized she was crying. Losing two friends was more than she could take.

"Do you want to hear a joke? I could make one up now, if you want me to. I'm kinda bad at jokes though. It probably won't be funny. But you could laugh at how bad it is!" Qibli rambled on, trying to find a way to make her laugh.

Moon tilted her head at him "but your really funny. Why would you be bad at jokes?" She asked.

"I make smart remarks," Qibli explained, "not jokes, like, why did the Mudwing cross the road? And such,"

"Well, why did the Mudwing cross the road?" Moon asked, as she had grow up in the rainforest, and was unfamiliar with most jokes.

"To get to the other side!" He exclaimed, spreading his talons and grinning like he expected an applause.

Moon snorted, "you're right, you are bad" she told him, trying to keep a straight face.

"Hey!" Qibli complained, pretending to be offended.

Moon whacked him with her wing "shush, I'm agreeing with you. Idiot" Moon scoffed, shooting Qibli a grin, to let him know she was teasing.

"Yes, 'your majesty'" Qibli mocked and gave an over exaggerated bow.

At that Moon burst into laughter, and fell to the ground giggling.

Keeping up the act, Qibli peered down at her and asked, "are you alright 'my queen'?"

Still laughing, Moon pulled him down on the ground with her, where the stayed, laughing until they both ran out of breath. Sitting up first, Qibli then turned to help Moon up.

"I think we should go," he said "Mayfly, is staring at us, and I don't want her to come after us with more of that stuff," while talking, Qibli gestured at the window facing the garden they were in.

Moon gave another laugh "ok," she agreed.

While walking through the town, they didn't even notice that their tails were twined.

After talking to some dragons and calling on some favors, Qibli had finally gotten them a small cottage to spend the week in. As they approached, Moon realized that her tail was still twined with Qibli's. Blushing she quickly let go. If Qibli noticed, he didn't say anything, which Moon was grateful for.

As Qibli opened the door, he turned around. "Don't worry 'your majesty' I check to see if it's safe," Qibli teased with his signature grin on his face.

Moon snorted "I think I can handle a snake," Moon laughed as she breezed by Qibli.

"Hey!" Qibli cried, offended. He squeezed past Moon and faced her "Dragonbite vipers can kill a dragon with one bite! It is totally reasonable to be afraid of them!"

Moon laughed and flicked him with her tail "I know that. But Winter once told me that when you saw a Gardner snake, you screamed and burned it to cinders,"

Qibli turned bright red, "it was dark!" He defended himself.

Moon snorted "sure," walking past him, she looked around the cottage. It had one room, with a small kitchen, with a little wooden table, and two chairs. On the other side of the room, there were four wooden posts with a large white sheet of cloth stretched between them. It was covered with a variety of pillows, some had animals, a few had landscapes, and others had designs. Under the cloth, there was a pile of blankets.

"What's that?" Moon asked pointing to the hammock-like thing.

Qibli stood beside her and surveyed the room, "Since so many tribes live in possibility, they couldn't keep changing the sleeping area in the rental homes. This was the solution. I think they call it a bed,"

"Huh," Moon said as she walked to the 'bed'. When Moon plopped down on it, it barely bounced under her weight, "I guess I could sleep on it," Moon decided.

"Yup," Qibli agreed, sitting next to her. Without warning, he grabbed a pillow and threw it at Moon.

"Hey!" Moon laughed, when it her. Without hesitating, Moon grabbed a pillow and retaliated. Both of them laughing, they both had their first pillow fight.

Moon was back by the fire. She watched trees grow around her, while birds and animals moved in. A pond formed in the dip in the ground beside her.

Moon looked up and saw the sun in the middle of a blue sky. As she watched, the sun moved down, until it was dusk. Then the moon came up and billions upon billions of stars appeared.

Moon woke with a start. She must have fallen asleep. Moon wasn't surprised; she had been exhausted when they arrived. Why had she woken up though? Then Moon felt it. Someone was shaking her. Moon looked up and saw Qibli wearing his signature grin.

Qibli smiled "I have something to show you,"
