The perilous trek took all strength.
For them all to complete the length.
'I have a feeling something's wrong...' Lachlan muttered quietly, as not to disturb his mocha-skinned companion. Ethan and Harry exchanged glances and nodded silently, turning back to the tall Australian as Alesa continued to scream inside her translucent cage 'I thought I could feel something earlier, but now that you think about it-'
'The entire area's suddenly gone cold, and look at the walls - They're breaking apart' Ethan finished, pointing at a large crack reaching from the floor to running along the tall, stone ceiling. A dull golden figure had separated itself from the group, now examining the walls with cross arms 'This is weird...' He commented, looking up and down before turning to the younger trio 'It's official - I have no idea where we are'
'Tobi, you can't be serious' Harry groaned loudly, leaning against one of the slowly decaying walls and ruffling his hair 'What? I had no idea where we used to be when we were alive, you know my sense of location's horrendous' The spirit retaliated, lines of black and white etching their way onto the figure as he moved around 'Well I know that, but still-' The stone walls shook around them, small chunks of ceiling falling to the ground as Lachlan yelped and took a step back 'We've got to get out of here... But we can't leave Vik!'
'I know what's going on,' Ethan announced, stepping forwards and meeting the eyes of his companions, 'And I know where we are. Somehow, our Vik's managed to drag us into the Void Dimension - The world's collapsing because someone's trying to get us out!'
'Unless the wisp's moved, it should still be located above the thrones at Truncatis... That means one of our friends is trying to get us out' The youngest blond realized, a small smile creeping into his face as the cracks grew even larger 'Then why is it taking so long?'
'Probably because we're actually - Everybody move!' A large chunk of stone fell from the air, and Lachlan prepared to get crushed... Before a dark mist enveloped him, and he fell through the ground 'What the Hell?!' He screeched, flailing about as the smoking tendrils tried to hold him still 'Lachlan!' The blond neared Harry and Ethan yell, but the mist obscured his eyesight and successfully pinned his arms to his side "Oh gods, this is where I die"
Meanwhile.
And Preston missed.
'Preston!' Brice screamed, desperately rushing for the boy as he grabbed a hold of the sharp edge 'Oh my Lords, are you okay?'
'Oh I'm fine, I'm only dangling over a pit of death over here!' The Texan snapped, wincing as stone cut into his skin. The luminous liquid beneath him seemed to churn and float at the sight of fresh meat, and Preston could see coils of the acidic substance beginning to rise - The blood starting to run from his palms didn't exactly help much either.
'Preston, grab my hand' The oddly calm voice of his Canadian companion sounded from above him, and Preston looked up to see Rob kneeling ontop of the pillar 'W-What? No! You're probably going to drop me, or-'
'For god's sake, Preston - I'm literally trying to save your life, just forget about all of that crap for five seconds and grab my hand!' The Truncatis Prince snapped, grabbing his "Enemy"'s forearm and ever-so-slowly pulling him up. The fire boy could almost pull himself onto the ledge at this point, but when he tried his only foothold collapsed and he fell a few inches 'Fudge!'
Rob swore loudly, using both hands to grip onto the Ignis Prince and shuffling back. Brice was only two pillars away at this point, but the yellow-green acid was getting higher as he approached 'Brice, you can control water - Can't you hold this stuff off?'
'I already tried, I can only control water - This stuff's either acid, or some weird kind of lava' The Australian reported, hopping to the next ledge as Preston slid even further down. He hadn't anticipated a situation like this, and now he'd put his companions in danger 'Rob?' He whimpered, his voice higher in octave than usual 'Am-Am I gonna die?'
'No! Don't say that, I will get you up here,' The Canadian growled, using a random burst of strength to pull the young brunette up to waist height 'I know you hate me, but I'm going to pull you back up even if it kills me'
Hate...
I know you hate me.
You.
Hate.
Me.
'Rob, I-I... I've been such an idiot, haven't I?' Truncatis' Prince faltered, furrowing his brow as he took in what Preston had just said. He opened his mouth to say something, but by that time Brice had joined his side and they pulled the Texan up 'Hey, you're not an idiot - If anything, I'm the idiotic one for being such a jerk'
'Okay, we-we're both idiots'
'As long as we can finally get along, that's fine with me'
Meanwhile.
'So, Ian...' Amelia began awkwardly, playing with her hands behind her back as the Void Solider looked up 'Yes?'
'Why are you down here? I thought you would be up there, getting mixed up in this stupid War' The young adult stopped walking and sighed, looking between the two Royals before adjusting his sunglasses and pulling a face 'Well... Originally, I was supposed to be up there but they declared me unfit for service. I didn't mind though - I absolutely hated fighting. War can change people'
'So they kicked you from the legion? Why?' Noah asked as he turned around, barely able to see three metres infront of his face in the dungeons beneath Truncatis' Castle 'I believe they called it "Multiple personality, and post traumatic stress Disorder". They discharged me while we were scouting the castle, and I ended up getting lost down here'
He said it so lightly, as if this happened on a regular basis, but the Princess was appalled. Taking a man into battle, then discharging him in the middle of a warzone? Absolutely absurd 'Ian, how are you taking that so well? Aren't you even slightly upset?'
'I suppose I am, yes, but I can't exactly do anything about it now. Anyway, what are you two doing down here? I thought Royalty were meant to be taken further from the carnage, not be walking around beneath it'
'Our friend got stabbed, so... Yeah' Noah said lamely, looking around as his black-and-cyan eyes finally turned back to normal, 'It was by a Void Traveller, goes by the-'
'I'm guessing Rueben Weller'
'That's the one'
'You know him?!'
'He's been on the wanted list in Void for the past three years, we all know him'
'...Oh'
'Oh indeed'
