Chapter 33: Guys Day Out
Scott's P.O.V.
"Are you sure that we can't just lounge around the house all day?" I asked a very excited Mitch.
"Positive. I really want to hang out Kirstie today," he replied, grabbing the keys from the counter. "Now let's go!"
I rolled my eyes but took the keys from him, opening the door. "So we're just going to chill at Kirstie's house?"
He giggled. "No silly! I'm going to chill at Kirstie's house. You're going to hang out with Avi today."
"Why can't we all just hang out together?" I asked as I opened the car door for Mitch.
"Because! We need our girl time, or else we might go crazy! Is that really what you want?"
I rolled my eyes as I shoved the wheelchair in the backseat, then hopped into the drivers seat. "I guess not. Alright, so where will Avi and I be all day?"
He shrugged. "Wherever you want to be."
"Well in that case, I want to be at Kirstie's house."
He smacked my arm. "Anywhere but there."
I sighed, pulling into Kirstie's driveway. "Fine Mr. Bossy. But you better be extra cuddly tonight to make up for this."
He grinned, opening his door. "That shouldn't be a problem. Now help me out!"
I got him all situated in his wheelchair, then we walked up to the door and knocked.
A squealing Kirstie opened it. "Mitchie!"
I rolled my eyes. "That's the second time Maldonado. Maybe one day I'll just stop showing up at your house cause it's clear who your favorite is."
"Whatever," she scoffed. "I know you'll never stop coming."
I hugged her. "You're right. So what are you two going to be doing all day?"
They exchanged an excited look. "Nothing," Kirstie lied.
I threw my hands in the air. "Why are you guys suddenly acting like secret agents or something?"
"Maybe we are," Mitch retorted. "You don't know."
I rolled my eyes, sitting down on the couch. "Oh yeah, that sounds very believable. Agent Grassi and Agent Maldonado on the case. I feel safer already."
"Me too," Avi agreed, sitting next to me on the couch.
"So where are we going today while these two sneak around?" I asked him, to which he shrugged. "Then why can't we just stay here?" I asked, my voice whinier than I intended it to be.
Mitch rolled his eyes and kissed me lightly on the lips. "It's only for one day. It's not like going out in public will kill you."
I pouted. "Maybe it will. Maybe I'm a vampire and as soon as I walk outside, I'll burst into flames. What will you do then?"
"I'll sprinkle your ashes in Unicorn Lake because that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard."
Kirstie giggled. "You two are adorable. Now, as much as I'd love to listen to you guys argue all day, me and my best girlfriend have plans."
Mitch smiled suspiciously, throwing a knowing glance at Kirstie. "Yes we do. So that means that all boys have to get out!"
"That sounds like something a two year old would say," I teased as I got up from the couch.
"Maybe I'm just a really big two year old Mr. Vampire," he replied, motioning me down for a kiss before I left.
"I love you," I whispered.
"I love you too," he whispered back.
"Alright! Time to go!" Kirstie shouted, ushering Avi and I out. "I'll text you when you're allowed to come back!"
Avi leaned in for a kiss. "Yes ma'am," he mumbled playfully.
For a moment, it looked like we wouldn't have to go anywhere after all. Kirstie and Avi seemed lost in each other's eyes. Suddenly, Kirstie came back to reality, shoving Avi away softly.
"Bye guys!" She shouted as the door closed.
"Well that was fun," I mumbled as we walked to my car.
"I thought the kissing part was fun," he laughed, hopping into the passenger seat.
"Yeah I guess," I mumbled as I started the car. "So where to?"
"How about the mall? They've got a store with cool beanies, and right next door is the music store."
I shrugged. "Sounds good to me."
Avi's phone buzzed, and he showed me the text message.
From Love Bug
Make sure you bring Kev too!! Love you!!
I laughed, pulling out of the driveway. "Alright. First stop, your apartment to pick up Kev."
"Perfect."
I giggled softly.
"What?" He asked, completely clueless.
"Love Bug?"
He blushed a deep shade of red.
"It was Kirstie's idea for the nicknames," he explained.
"Oh, so she has a nickname for you in her phone?" I asked, very interested. "What is it?"
"Bigdaddy," he mumbled quietly.
"What? I didn't catch that."
"Big Daddy," he said, louder this time.
I burst into a fit of laughter. "Big Daddy? That's hilarious!"
"Shut up!" He shouted, blushing harder. "Let's just go get Kev."
"Alright. Whatever you say," I paused, then looked at him pointedly, "Big Daddy."
*********
After we had picked up Kevin, we headed to the mall, stopping at the pretzel cart before we went shopping.
"What about this one?" Avi asked, holding up a neon striped beanie.
Kevin shook his head. "That one makes you look like a Vegas street sign."
He rolled his eyes, then held up a bright pink one. "What about this one?"
"Great! If you want to look like an Easter egg," Kevin replied sarcastically.
"Is this one okay?" Avi asked exasperatedly, showing us a dark gray one with blue piano keys on it.
"That's really cool!" Kevin exclaimed, taking the beanie from Avi's hand. "I might keep this one for myself."
"Yeah right!" Avi scoffed, taking the hat back. "I'm going to go pay for this. You want anything Scott?"
I shook my head. "I'm good. I'm going to take Kurvy over to the music store so we can start looking."
"Cool. I'll be there in a sec." Avi disappeared in between people, so I grabbed Kevin's arm and led him to the music store.
"So do you have any idea what's going on between Kirstie and Mitch?" I asked, browsing through the music books.
He shook his head. "No idea. You never know with those two."
"But that's what we love about them," Avi said, walking up behind us with his bag.
"You know, we shouldn't just let them boss us around. We should go home right now," I said, feeling empowered.
Avi shook his head. "No can do. I do whatever my Love Bug tells me to do."
I laughed. "Oh yeah! That reminds me! Kev, do you know that Kirstie's nickname for Avi is-"
"Scott! Shut up!" Avi shouted, shoving me playfully.
I heard Avi's phone vibrate in his pocket.
"Is that Love Bug?" I asked as Avi took his phone out. His face went pale.
"Yeah actually, it is. We've got to go. Right now."
He rushed out of the store, leaving Kevin and I to chase after him.
"Avi! What's wrong?" Kevin called.
He stopped when we were outside in the parking lot, turning to us with a frightened expression on his face.
"It's Kirstie and Mitch. They're at the hospital."
