Chapter 32: Not Getting A Tip
Scott's P.O.V.
I swirled the eggs around in the frying pan as bacon crackled in the pan next to it.
"Good morning handsome," Mitch mumbled sleepily, running his hand across my waist as he rolled through the kitchen to the dining room.
"Morning. How did you sleep?"
He giggled. "Fantastic. Especially since we were sharing a bed."
I could feel myself blushing. "Oh yeah?"
"Definitely. You're a great cuddler by the way."
I was still blushing as I scooped the eggs and bacon onto a plate, setting it in front of him. "Thanks."
"Thank you for the breakfast." He took a bite, sighing heavily. "This is so good!"
I smiled as I sat down with a plate of my own.
"So I was thinking that we could go over to Kirstie's today and get all of your stuff."
"That sounds great Scooter. Can we go right after breakfast?"
I nodded as I shoveled a forkful of eggs into my mouth.
"Great! Just give me a few minutes to get changed and we'll go, alright?"
"Sounds good to me," I replied as I picked up both of our empty dishes and put them in the sink.
As soon as I had rinsed off the dishes and put them in the dishwasher, I went to go get dressed myself. Quickly, I threw on a pair of basketball shorts and a T-shirt, then tied my sneakers and was back in the living room in record time. Of course, Mitch still wasn't out yet. He took a longer time to get dressed than anyone I knew.
"Mitch! Hurry up, slowpoke!" I shouted, picking up my keys from the counter and jingling them around.
"I'll be out in a sec!" He shouted back. I rolled my eyes, knowing that he would probably be another fifteen minutes, so I sat down on the couch to wait.
Just as I had suspected, fifteen minutes later, Mitch rolled out from the hallway, looking primped and perfect.
"It's about time," I teased as I got up.
He rolled his eyes. "At least I brushed my hair this morning. Did you even look in the mirror?"
I shrugged and ran a hand through my hair. "Don't need to. I always look perfect."
He giggled. "Of course you do Scooter."
I opened the door for him, then followed him out, locking the door behind us. "Are you saying that I don't always look great?"
"I never said that!"
"Good," I said as I opened the car door for Mitch. "Because if you did, you would be sorely mistaken."
He laughed, lifting himself up into the seat. "I'm so sorry I ever doubted your good looks," he apologized sarcastically.
I put his wheelchair in the backseat and got into the driver's seat. "You better be."
We talked and laughed the whole way to Kirstie's house, more comfortable around each other than we had been for a long time. I could get used to this.
After Mitch and I had both got out of the car, I walked up to Kirstie's door and knocked. It swung open almost immediately.
"Mitch!" She shouted. Her face fell when she saw who it was. "Oh...it's just you."
I widened my eyes at her. "Well then! Good to see you too, girl that I've been best friends with since we were ten!"
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean-"
"Kirst it's fine," I assured her, walking past her into the house. "At least now I know who your favorite is."
"Oh shut up!" She retorted playfully.
I rolled my eyes as she and Mitch walked into the living room, whispering back and forth. What were they being so secretive about?
I decided to ignore it, walking back to the guest room where Mitch had been staying and began to gather up his things.

Once I had gotten everything into the car, I plopped down onto the couch beside Mitch and Kirstie. They looked at me with amused expressions.
"What?" I asked, confused.
Kirstie shook her head. "Nothing."
"Oh. I see. You guys are just going to make me do all the work and then not let me in on your inside jokes or whatever, right?"
Mitch bit his lip to keep from smiling. "You're adorable when you're mad, you know that?"
"I'm not mad, I just want to know what you two have been whispering about for the past few hours."
Kirstie grinned. "Well that's too bad."
I sighed. "You guys are mean."
Mitch leaned over and planted a big kiss on my lips. "Deal with it."
"So do you guys want to go get some pizza or something?" Asked a low voice from the hallway. I turned to see Avi looking like he had just woke up.
"Avi? I didn't even know you were here! And why are you still sleeping at one o'clock in the afternoon?"
He grinned. "Sleep is a beautiful thing. Why should you interrupt something as beautiful as that?"
I shrugged. "Fair enough. Anyways, pizza sounds great. What about you guys?"
Mitch shrugged. "Sounds good to me."
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's get this show on the road!" Kirstie exclaimed, helping Mitch into his wheelchair.
We took Avi's car, as mine was mostly full of Mitch's stuff, with Kirstie and Mitch in the backseat.
"So what do you think they're talking about?" I asked Avi, motioning towards the two whispering in the backseat.
He shrugged. "I try not to question her. It's for everyone's safety."
I tried to ignore their hushed voices, but not knowing something was eating away at me.
"What could you two possibly be talking about?" I asked again after we were seated in the pizza parlor.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Mitch replied with a smirk.
"Yeah actually. Please tell me!"
He raised an eyebrow. "Oh yeah? And how bad do you want to know?"
Kirstie and Avi just stared at us, eyes wide.
"What do you mean?"
He giggled at my awkwardness. "I mean, what will you do to know?"
"Um...I don't know. What do you have in mind?"
He came close and leaned in, his lips tickling as he whispered in my ear. I could feel myself blush and my eyes widen.
"I-I don't think I want to know a-anymore," I stammered, turning my eyes down to the table.
"What did he say to you?" Kirstie asked.
"It's not something that I feel comfortable repeating," I mumbled, embarrassed.
Kirstie giggled, eying Mitch, surprised.
"Are we ready to order?" Asked an overly cheery waiter. Avi told him our usual pizza order, although the waiter seemed to be way more interested in Mitch than he was the order.
"Sounds good!" He exclaimed after Avi had finished the order. "Anything else I can get for you?" He asked, mainly toward Mitch.
"Um, no. I think we're good," he replied, awkward but trying to be polite.
"Alright! I'll be back in a few minutes with your pizza sugar," he said, winking at Mitch on his way out.
I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest, glaring at the man as he entered the kitchen.
"Jeez Scott!" Kirstie nearly shouted. "I can almost see the steam coming out of your ears! What's wrong?"
Avi rolled his eyes. "I think it's pretty obvious. That waiter was a little friendlier with Mitch than he should've been."
Mitch sighed, resting his head on my shoulder. "Scotty, please don be mad. I'm yours! No stupid flirty waiter is going to change that."
I thought for a moment, then wrapped my arm around his shoulders, pulling him closer to me. "I'm glad that you're all mine Mitchie. I've waited so long for you to be mine."
We were still cuddled up next to each other when the waiter came back, a pizza balanced in each hand. He looked uncomfortable to say the least.
"Um, here's your pizzas," he said awkwardly, setting the trays down on the table.
"Thank you," Mitch said.
Apparently, that was all the waiter needed to resume flirting. "If you want to try anything different," he said, looking pointedly at me, "just give me a call."
He winked again before he left, making me grind my teeth together.
"Come on guys! Let's dig in!" Avi exclaimed, grabbing a piece of pizza. Kirstie and Mitch followed suit, seemingly unaware of what had just happened.
"I'm going to head to the bathroom," I lied, interrupting a lively conversation. Kirstie gave me a weird look, but I ignored it, glaring at the waiter who was standing at the front podium.
"Hey..." I had to look at his name tag, "Connor."
He looked up at me with a confused expression. "Can I help you sir?"
I leaned over the podium so I wouldn't have to talk so loud. "Yeah actually. Is there any way that I could get you to stop flirting with my boyfriend?"
He raised his eyebrows in fake confusion. "I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about."
I clenched my teeth and let out a frustrated sigh. "Look man, I'm trying to be nice here. Just stop winking at him and stuff like that, alright?"
He smirked. "What, you afraid of a little competition?"
I lowered my voice even further. "Leave him alone."
"And what will you do if I don't?"
I clenched my fists at my sides, trying to keep calm. The last thing I wanted to do was get into a fight with this guy and make a scene.
"Please. I don't want to have to do anything, but if I have to, I will. I'm warning you, stop flirting with him."
I walked away before he could say anything else that might provoke me, sitting back down in my seat next to Mitch.
"You were gone forever!" Mitch exclaimed, wrapping his arm around mine. I gave him a small smile and grabbed a piece of pizza, trying ignore the waiter's eyes on me.
I noticed that Kirstie had only eaten about half of a piece of pizza since I had left, and she didn't look like he intended to eat any more of it.
"You eat like a bird Kirst," I said, motioning to the pizza on her plate.
She looked down at it, then over at Avi with a questioning glance. He sighed and shook his head, kissing her forehead lightly.
"I guess I'm just not very hungry," she replied finally. I shrugged and took a bite of my own pizza.
I narrowed my eyes at Connor, who was returning, his gaze on Mitch.
"How's the food tasting?" He asked cheerfully. "Almost finished?"
We all nodded.
"Great!" He said, picking up the empty pans, then walking up behind Mitch. "Did you save any room for dessert?"
I scoffed at his overly seductive attempt at flirting. "I think we can all agree that dessert sounds disgusting right now," I snarled in response, still glaring at Connor. He raised an eyebrow.
"And no one else would like something sweet?" He asked Mitch.
I stood up from the table. "Why don't you-"
"Scott, I've got this," Mitch assured me softly, his hand on my arm. I sighed and sat back down.
"Look Connor, at first, I was flattered, but you've taken this too far. My boyfriend made it very clear that I was taken, but you can't seem to get it through your head. So I'll tell you again nice and slowly. I'm. Not. Interested."
Connor blinked, surprised. I bit my lip to keep from laughing.
"Alright sir. I'll be back in a minute with your check," he said awkwardly, starting to walk away with the empty trays.
"Oh, and Connor?" Mitch called after him.
Connor turned around quickly, a hopeful look in his face. "Yes?"
"Don't expect a tip," he replied flatly.
Connor nodded sadly, then walked away.
"Dang Mitch! You really told that guy off!" Kirstie exclaimed, high-fiving the brunette from across the table.
He shrugged. "That guy was really annoying."
I grinned at him, intertwining my hand with his. "You're amazing baby."
He laughed, flashing his genuine Mitch Grassi smile. "And don't you forget it."
