Chapter 2

Third Person POV

It had been several days since Jenni had met Roman and in those several days the two of them had travelled from Atlas to Vale to meet up with Roman's friend.

"So Roman," Jenni said breaking the silence, "I'm curious as to why a human like you is helping a Faunus like me."

"Well you and me. We're a lot alike. I despise humans."

Jenni looked down, "I don't despise humans. I just don't think they give Faunus enough of a chance."

Roman smiled at put his arm around her shoulders. "Oh I think Adam is going to love you."

Jenni removed his arm from her shoulder, "please stop."

"Why sweetheart?" Roman asked

"I barely know you. Look I appreciate you saving me the way you did. But stop flirting with me."

Roman arched an eyebrow, "what do you mean?"

"I mean stop with calling me 'sweetheart' and 'angel' or whatever and stop with all the uncomfortable touching," She said, "it's weird"

"Look I'm sorry," he said, "but you're really easy to talk to and I've never met someone who can fight the way you can."

Jenni ran her fingers over her arms as she hugged herself, "the only thing I did was use my semblance. I can't fight at all."

"You can't? Not even a little bit?"

Jenni shook her head, "my father only taught me basic self-defense. I wouldn't last at an academy or on a mission."

"Maybe I can teach you," he said.

Jenni looked up at him, "you can? Really?"

Roman put on a cocky grin, "Of course you're talking to me. The owner of Melodic Cudgel the finest cane-cannon in Remnant. I'd be the perfect teacher for you."

"Can I see your weapon? I'm kind of dork when it comes to weapons," she said sheepishly.

Roman handed the weapon to her and Jenni ran her fingers over the hollow tubing and felt the hidden trigger under the cane's handle.

"This is a beautiful weapon," she said, "it's very well made. But I don't see anyway for the gunfire to exit the cane. There's no muzzle."

Her fingers then brushed over the bottom of the cane, as she held it upside down, and flipped up the hidden reticle. A puff of soot came out and coated her face making her sneeze.

"Hey," Roman laughed as Jenni wiped the soot from her eyes, "you found it."

Jenni glared at him but then smirked and ran her soot stained fingers down his stark white coat.

"Hey hey I just got this thing cleaned!"

Jenni stuck her tongue out at him and started running.

"Hey come back here you brat!" he yelled running after her.

Jenni kept running until she felt Roman grab her waist, "I got you."

"Cheater," she said as she flicked his forehead.

Roman rolled his eyes and looked up, "Hey we're here." He let go of her and took her into what appeared to be a campsite. Scattered around the area was multiple canvas tents. Faunus stood here and there talking or fixing their weapons. Some of the Faunus were dressed in everyday clothes while others were wearing a white coat, a black bodysuit and hood and masks to cover their face. When the Faunus looked up at her Jenni noticed they looked intimidated and scared and even a little angry. Jenni tried to smile but the Faunus turned away.

"Come on," Roman said leading her away. He took her to the largest tent in the area and pushed open the canvas flaps and Jenni saw two men standing over a map.

"Hey Adam!" Roman yelled, "I've got someone for you to meet!"
