Revealed (Pt.1)

My mind raced over all the things my mother needed to talk to me about, which kept me awake since 4 this morning.  I had been tossing and turning all night until my body gave up on struggling to stay a sleep, and now my lack of sleep has left me paranoid and anxious in a ball under my covers.  I peeked out from out of my covers at my alarm the read that it was half past 7. I wrinkled my face in confusion, since I didn't hear it go off once. I know I set my alarm clock to go off at the same time every morning. I also took note that my alarm clock wasn't at the edge of my nightstand anymore but in the middle. That's my panorama kicked in again. Was someone in my room?

I knew I should be getting up to get ready, but I wasn't ready to face reality and what today's mysteries that I would soon find out about hold.  The idea of someone being in my room also sent panic and fear through my body the made my heart slightly pick up speed. The feeling of being watch suddenly sparked an adrenaline rush, that jolted me straight up out from under my covers.

My mother's soft weak chuckles in the corner of my room in my oversized bean bag sent reassurance to me as I crawled out of bed straight into her lap, laying my head on her chest. Childish, I know, but the comfort of her arms sent an unusual calm relaxation feeling through my body, that I knew she used magic to make as she brushed my hair with her fingertips.

"Mom, why didn't you wake me up? I'm going to be late." I questioned suddenly feeling sleepy the longer she played with my hair.

"You can't go to school today, Scarlet. It's not safe." She whispered. My mother let out a deep defeated sigh.

I sat up in her lap confused at what she was talking about. Drowsiness fell over me harder making me recede back to my original position. "What do you mean, mom. What's going on?"

"He's back, sweetheart. He's back. They're looking to take over this time. "I knew who she was talking about and I wanted so badly to react, but my body felt heavy and the only thing I could do was yawn.

"He's looking for the crystal and other supernatural, who are living in the human land, witches especially, to help him. He's more powerful now sweetheart." But I would never turn against you mom. My eyes fluttered close against my will.

"I know you won't, Scar, but it's greater than that. I need you to stay away from Tristan from now on." What do you mean mom! "Sleep my child, you need rest," No. I tried to force my eyes back open but my body wouldn't respond to me. Why is she doing this?  Why won't she tell me what she means? Why do I have to stay away from Tristan?

I could faintly hear my mother start to hum a lullaby she usually sang to me and my sister when we had a bad dream or had trouble sleeping to make us fall into a deep peaceful sleep. I gave up trying to fight it as sleep seduced me into darkness.

Hushed voices filled my ears as I linger in that not fully asleep but conscious and aware of my surroundings stage. My head pushed deeper into the soft plush pillows back to sleep, but I sensed something wasn't right when I tried to roll over on my stomach but the edge of whatever I was laying on threatened to make me sleep on the floor. It only took me a second to notice the newfound silence in the room as I shifted my position on what now seemed like a couch.

I opened my eyes and was immediately greeted by two figures. One was Alice's mom and the other was a Shifter that I didn't quite recognize. I took in my surroundings realizing I was at Alice's house, in her living room. Alice's mom sat down in the car across the couch, playing with her fingers nervously as if she is about to get ready to say something unpleasant which I wouldn't be surprised if she did. "Scar, honey your mom had to go attend to some business back home."

I knew where she meant by home and my heart ached to go back home to Galariah. I haven't been there since I was 8. We moved here 5 years after Lucy was born when problems started arising due to a very powerful vampire who tried to rise to power and was even willing to take out his own family to get there. "Aunt Helena, can you please tell me what's going on?"

She took a hesitant breathe and looked away from me. Just as she was about to open her mouth to talk. Alice flew down the stairs, causing us all to turn look in her direction. "Mom, I'm taking Scarlet upstairs now since you promised I get to talk to her the minute she wakes up." Alice's mom opened her mouth to protest but Alice cute her off. "Mom, you promised."  With a defeated sigh Aunt Helena gave me the go ahead and I quickly got up to the couch and followed Alice upstairs into her room. I was caught off guard when I saw Lilac laying on Alice's bed tossing a plush ball in the air.

Alice sat down in her computer desk chair and motioned for me to sit on her bed as Lilac scooted over to make space. "Scar, sit down, I going to tell you what happened since they aren't going to."
