Corin Rosewood, a Ravenclaw in her seventh year at Hogwarts was painstaking and incredibly relieved that she could finally say that she was done.
Corin was officially a Hogwarts graduate, and although she stood along with her fellow birds for a class picture. Some holding up cut out numbers of '82' in a beautiful blue and bronze pattern. They were stationed right under Rowena Ravenclaw's portrait that was featured in their common room.
The crowd that surrounded them were all familiar faces, but not really many that Corin sorted herself with. Sure she was friendly, but she wouldn't be a true Ravenclaw if it wasn't for her favoritism of books over people.
Mainly those who liked to chat over one another and whisk away all the minuscule details that pertained to the social gossip of their inner world. Hogwarts a festering pool of the latest trends, adolescent teens battling all types of hormones as they came into adulthood. All of it was ingrained into the beautiful structure that the four house founders thought would be beneficial to the younger witches and wizards.
But as Corin found herself reminiscing in her previous years she felt like she was leaving something behind, touching the cold walls of the halls she felt so lost yet so refreshed at the idea of leaving.
It was to start her life, and most of the elders around her claimed she was fortunate in missing all the wizarding war as the Dark Lord had fallen just in the fall.
Yet why did it feel so wrong?
She knew the Potter's, not as much as those at the funeral—But she had been invited at Lupin's request. And that was last she heard from anyone, and that meant everyone.
Dumbledore had interviewed her prior, she would make batches of healing potions at his request as she aspired to be a healer—Though a creatures healer passed on well enough to brew the general tonics that they couldn't afford to acquire without drawing suspicion from either the government or the Death Eaters themselves.
But now the war was over, and the wizarding world around them was attempting to forget all that happened. So why wasn't she excited?
Why wasn't she feeling ready?
With her bag packed she wanted to get one more sketch of the Whomping Willow, a beautiful and sentient tree that had a mind of its own as it desecrated the likes of anyone who tried to step into its branches radius.
Corin attempted to find something the tree favors, but there wasn't any solution other than freezing the tree itself—Which made him much more violent afterwards.
With the warm weather finally gracing the Scotland boarders she smiled up to the sky, yet a yelp caused her to turn her attention of towards him.
"Roe honestly darling, come over." The fellow hurried towards his mum in a quick sprint and sprawled himself onto his back to showcase his tum. The little furball had been injured in previous years and had been at the mercy of Corin's generosity and well-researched practices. Better yet, she skipped the better of a week and claimed she had a small illness to tend to him.
Her friend has a beautiful pitch-black coat with only a small white-tipped tail and a matching snoot to go along with it. He'd come to respond to his name and thus to two remained friends, though she had let him out to his own devices.
Now came the choice whether Corin takes him home or not, her mother would have a grand fit right beside her father. But Mima would adore the living lights out of Roe, he was completely domestic in terms of other fox's. Though he did have a slice in his tail, something she couldn't fix...Though now he surely could pass as a kneazle if looked at from far away, as there was a slight chance he wasn't able to grow as a fox would to his natural size.
"Let's take one last walk in the forest, you want to say goodbye don't you?" She cooed, and the high pitched yip was enough for her to continue off and abandon her drawing. She was open to enough studying with the field she would be diving into, surely she could research about the mysterious whomping willow and why it was decided to be on Hogwarts grounds.
Considering it wasn't present during her parent's time...It just sounded odd to be suddenly placed.
Roe was picking up his pace and it caused her to groan further. "I don't know if taking you home with me is such a good idea love, you were born here...You belong here." For whatever reason her words felt strained, as she didn't want to leave him here, if anything it was harder to leave him than leave Hogwarts.
The damned shadow sped ahead, which left Corin to assume that he was going out and scooping the perimeter, though that was much more of a wolf trait than a fox.
"Roe, could you stay close please?... I can't walk that far, it'll be dark soon." But the little devil was quite mischievous and went far too ahead that it made Corin anxious and rush through the thickening forest.
Little did she know that she missed the warning mark from the centurions in the area, that this was not the place to stumble upon.
Her hand touched the tall trunk of the tree as she tried to calm her breath. There was little light left and she had only spot small glimpses of her friend since the beginning of their adventure.
"Roe this isn't what I meant when I said I wanted to go on an adventure, I want a planned adventure. Preferably with a full stomach and better shoes." She said muttering her breath, if she really wanted to, she could stop her march and uncharm her trunk that was in her bag. She couldn't leave packing to the last minute as her heavy anxiety left little room to focus on anything more than missing the train.
And it's happened before.
"Ronan Onyx Rosewood, get your arse back here this—" Her voice had been engulfed by her high pitched screech. At first it was a simple root that caught her foot, then darkness.
