9 - Games That Cas Always Wins

Sunday

Dean and Cas had slept in the same bed. Maybe a little bit awkwardly at first, but in their sleep they managed to curl up together in the same way they always had on the camp.

Dean woke first, to find himself pressed against Cas's back with his arm strung over Cas's chest. Cas was still sleeping peacefully, his breathing soft and even.

Dean shifted slightly so he could look down at Cas's sleeping face and smiling softly. It had been way too long since he'd been able to do this.

Cas shifted suddenly before opening his eyes wearily, blinking away the sleepiness. He looked up at Dean with the ocean blue eyes and smiled softly.

"Morning," he said, his voice rough from sleep.

"Mornin' Cas," Dean said, still smiling. "Sleep okay?"

"Yeah. How exactly did we end up like this?" He gestured to the way they were still lying.

Dean shrugged. "Who knows, who cares? ...I mean, I uh, I don't mind, do you?"

"Nope," Cas said, rolling over so he was facing Dean, their chests touching. He wrapped his arm around Dean's waist and buried his head against his neck. "Still sleepy."

Dean chuckled and Cas smiled at the sound, closing his eyes again.

"Well I hate to break it to you, but I have work today," Dean said.

"Call in sick," Cas muttered. "You have more important things to do."

"Like you?"

"...really Dean."

Dean laughed. "Couldn't help it. But...I could probably get Bobby to give me the day off."

"Good," Cas muttered, his voice getting quiet as he drifted back into sleep. "Stay here."

"Of course Cas," Dean said, only moving to reach his phone beside the bed to call Bobby.

"Don't leave," Cas said, only just audible as he then fell asleep. Dean realized that in his sleepy state, Cas had reverted to his summer camp thoughts. He just pulled Cas closer, because there was no way he would leave again.

"Hey Bobby," Dean said as he called his boss. "I uh, don't think I can come in today. You see, I've got this octopus attacking me..."

"Are you really not coming in because your boyfriend is hugging you and won't let go?"

"...yes?"

"Fine ya idjit, just don't make a habit of it."

"Yep, thanks Bobby."

Dean hung up the phone and put it back, before snuggling back up to Cas and letting sleep take over his mind yet again.

When Gabe woke up he realized he and Sam had fallen asleep where they'd been lying together. He took a moment to look at Sam before nudging him awake.

"Mornin' Samantha," Gabe said, smiling.

"Shut up Gabe I was sleeping," Sam mumbled, barely audible.

Gabe chuckled. "Come on, you gotta get up at some point." Sam made a non committal noise.

"Sleeping all day in winter is the best though. We can awake during summer."

"We should go to the camp during summer," Gabe said without realizing what he was saying. He froze a bit when he did notice. "Or uh...we don't have to..."

"That'd be nice," Sam said sleepily, before yawning and blinking his eyes rapidly to get some of the sleep away. "Okay fine I'm getting up." Gabe smiled, and rolled off the bed and pretty much fell onto the floor before standing up. "So graceful you are there."

"Well of course," Gabe said, smirking. He grabbed Sam's foot and dragged a surprised Sam off of the bed and onto the floor. Sam glared up at him before standing up.

"You're an idiot," he said, pressing a kiss to Gabe's lips softly. Gabe smiled into the kiss.

"You love me," Gabe said.

"You keep believing that," Sam said.

"Oh I will, because I know it's true," Gabe said. "Hey wanna spend some time with all six of us today?"

Sam nodded. "I guess we should call Cas and Dean then."

"And not Michael and Luci?"

"You know they'll just randomly show up anyway."

"Damn right we will," Lucifer said, standing right behind Gabriel who jumped away. Michael was also in the room, standing in a corner while glaring at Lucifer.

"Told you," Sam said to Gabe.

Gabe sighed. "I didn't not believe you. And what even is with you two? Like what do you do with your lives?"

"Well I break the fourth wall," Luci said. "Michael follows me around and glares at me like he is now."

Michael glared.

Luci smirked. "Love you too Mikey."

Michael sighed. "Dammit no I can't be mad when you say anything like that."

"I know, that's exactly why I said it."

Michael just sighed and walked out of his corner over to stand beside Lucifer, putting an arm around his waist.

"Ship it," Gabe said, smirking.

"That only really has an effect when they're not canon," Sam said.

"Yeah, now we just fully agree with you," Luci said.

"Dammit," Gabe said. "Well anyway, are we getting Cas and Dean over here or what?"

"What are we even going to do?" Sam asked.

"Dunno, Michifer got any ideas?"

"Let's play poker," Luci said. "I wanna beat Cas..."

"We could also play monopoly," Michael said. "Because Luci will kill Cas if we play poker."

"He'll kill him if we play monopoly too," Gabe pointed out. "But you know what, let's play both."

"Oh this will only end in disaster," Michael muttered.

Dean and Cas got a text from their brothers at some point while they were still in bed, and Dean checked the message and nudged Cas awake.

"Why is Michael asking you to come play the game that'll make Luci murder you?"

"Oh he means poker," Cas replied sleepily. "No one can beat me at that."

"Oh really?" Dean said. "I'll be the judge of that."

Cas smirked. "Yeah good luck with that Dean."

They got out of bed and got dressed, Cas borrowing one of Dean's plaid shirts to wear. Which Dean thought Cas looked adorable in, because the sleeves were slightly too long, and well even just the fact that it was Dean's shirt in the first place.

They walked out of the apartment, huddling close together for warmth.

"It's probably going to snow soon," Cas said as they got to the Impala.

"I prefer warmth," Dean said, turning on the car.

"Does that have anything to do with a specific camp?"

"Maybe," Dean said, with a small smile on his face.

They drove over to the college, walking to Cas and Gabe's shared dorm room. In the room were Michael, Luci, Sam and Gabe, sitting in a half circle on the floor while Luci set up poker.

"It's too cold to leave the building today," Michael said as explanation for what they were doing.

"You don't say," Dean said, rolling his eyes. "So, poker huh?"

"No one beats Cas at this game," Gabe said as Dean and Cas sat down in the gap in the circle.

"We'll see about that," Dean muttered, as Luci dealt the cards. And so the game began.

Seems a bit like those random activities they always used to have, doesn't it?

Immediately it was obvious that Cas was winning. He could tell by reading the other peoples actions what cards they had, he could tell when people were bluffing. There was no way they could get past him figuring out what they had.

Dean was doing the best out of the rest of them, but he was kinda glaring at Cas.

"Damn you and your weird ability," Dean said.

Cas smiled. "Hey I warned you, didn't I?"

"Well yeah but this is just unfair."

"Aww come on Dean, you know I can't help it."

Dean just glared for another second or two before tackling Cas over and pinning him to the ground.

"Can't win if you're like this," Dean growled quietly.

"Did they forget we're here?" Gabe muttered to Sam.

"I believe so," Sam said.

"Alright break it up you guys," Michael said.

"Yeah, as much as the readers would like it, that is not something I need to see," Luci said.

"Cockblock," Dean muttered, climbing off of Cas. Cas had gone very red and was looking down shyly. Dean just smiled softly at him, bumping their shoulders gently as they sat side by side again.

They continued to play poker, and Cas won the next five rounds before Gabe threw his cards down in defeat.

"I give up, let's play monopoly," he said.

"I don't think anyone will disagree with you there," Sam said.

"Aww but I'm winning," Cas said with a smirk.

"You're always winning when it comes to poker," Gabe whined. Michael stood up to go get the monopoly board and came back seconds later with it.

Sam picked up the little things that you choose to play as. There was the normal ones of a monopoly game...and then there was a moose.

"Gabe?" Sam asked, pulling out the little moose.

"Oh I got bored one day," Gabe said. "So I made a moose so that if you ever play you can be the moose."

"Wow...you know I should've been expecting that."

They all picked out their little figure things, Dean obviously choosing the car. And so the game of monopoly began.

They actually worked in teams, just because it would be easier to manage. Obviously all the ships were together.

Michael and Lucifer were off to a great start, but due to Luci's lack of preparation for anything, they went bankrupt pretty quickly.

Sam and Gabriel did a lot better, but maybe they would've done better if Sam hadn't switched to an art uni corse, because even they lost all their money eventually.

And then Dean and Cas, and obviously Cas thought of strategies that could so easily help them to win and get money.

So obviously Dean and Cas won.

It was almost evening by the time they finished. They decided to just order pizza, and make the poor delivery guy go through the cold to get it to them.

They sat down to watch a movie afterwards, each couple curled up together. It was strange how they so easily fell back into this habit...because this was almost the same as they had done on the camp, watching movies together in the evening. If you took away the age differences and the first snowflakes falling outside their window, it almost was the same.

Five years, and maybe things between them hadn't changed as much as they had originally thought.
