7 - Five Years But We're Back
Sam stared at him with wide eyes. He glanced at the open wardrobe and realized Gabe had seen all the pictures. Gabe had come looking to find out who he was...Unless Cas had told him after Sam hinted he'd been talking to Cas. But Cas seemed sure he shouldn't tell Gabe. Then again Cas could mess up.
"Sam?" Gabe said softly, taking a hesitant step towards Sam. Sam was still just staring at Gabe.
Oh god what was he supposed to do? Five years but he'd never figured out what he would do if he saw Gabriel again. And it was still Gabriel, it was still so obviously Gabriel, the same hair, the same golden eyes...
"Sam say something," Gabe said, his voice getting worried.
But what was he supposed to say? Go get caught up on the past and think that they could just pick up where they left off? Think that what happened five years ago would still mean anything? Think that Gabe even still cared?
"Sam please," Gabe said. "You...don't go silent, you promised you wouldn't go silent..."
Sam's mind paused and he blinked. "We...we made out in a college hallway."
Gabe gave a surprised laugh. "Yeah I do believe we're doing this in the wrong order. The making out comes later."
Sam raised an eyebrow. "Oh so we're going to be making out are we?"
"I dunno, I feel like you might be to tall for me to reach. Like seriously, what the hell Samantha?"
Sam chuckled. "I had a growth spurt."
"Oh you don't say," Gabe muttered. "Remember when I could use you as an armrest?"
"Those were dark days."
Gabe chuckled and Sam smiled. Then Gabe trailed off and he gave Sam a small smile.
"I uh...I missed you."
"I missed you too," Sam said. They stood in awkward silence for a moment.
"So what now?" Gabe asked. "I mean...five years...hey you kept the photos."
"Of course I did," Sam said. "Did...did you?"
"Obviously," Gabe said, then gestured to the photos. "There's one missing here."
Sam pulled out his phone and passed it to Gabriel. Gabe saw the last photo tucked into the back of his see through phone case. It was the one of when Gabe had taken a selfie of them while sam happened to be shirtless, and Sam had his arms around Gabe's neck and they were both smiling at the camera.
"I wonder what you look like without a shirt now," Gabe muttered. He hadn't meant for Sam to hear that but Sam did.
"Oh wouldn't you like to know?" Sam said with a smirk.
"Woah you got not innocent."
"I wonder who I got that from."
"I don't know, who could've possibly done that?"
"Probably this short guy I know—"
"I am not short, you're freakishly tall. What are you, 6'2''?"
"6'4''."
"How?" Gabe asked. "Literally how?"
"I was a teenager," Sam said.
"You're still a teenager. 19 right?"
"Well yeah but I'm five years older. People get taller over time Gabriel."
"Yeah but now I'm the shortest," Gabe muttered, pouting. Sam chuckled and then walked over to Gabe, leaning on his shoulder.
"Now who's the armrest?" he said teasingly. Gabe glared at him and elbowed him in the side. Sam immediately retreated, clutching his side. "Ow."
"Oh that didn't hurt," Gabe said. "I barely touched you." Sam raised an eyebrow. "Or...not."
They fell into an awkward silence again. Sam just sighed.
"What happens now?" Sam asked.
"I don't really know," Gabe said. "I mean, I know Dean and Cas are trying to get back together."
"Woah really?" Sam asked.
"Yeah," Gabe said. "They went out today. So um...I don't know what you want to do..."
"Gabe, I did happen to know it was you when I made out with you in that hallway. Is that answer enough for you?"
"Oh so you want to make out with me, I can do that."
"You idiot."
"You love me."
"Do I?"
"Yep."
"Prove it."
Gabe smirked and Sam only just processed where what he'd said could lead before Gabe had one hand behind his neck and was pulling him down into a kiss.
It wasn't like the one in the hallway where Gabe was just so confused and emotionally torn. It was softer, slower. And Sam couldn't help but want more, but Gabe pulled away.
"Yeah I'd say you do," Gabe said with a smirk.
"Shut up," Sam said, but he could feel the blush rising to his cheeks.
"Oh you're still the same awkward Sammy aren't you?" Gabe said teasingly. "Except now you're a moose too. Samoose."
"Luci warned me about the nickname," Sam muttered.
"You talked to Luci?"
"They talked to me."
"Not even just Luci, gotta be both huh."
"Obviously. Are they married yet?"
"No, they were waiting to invite you guys."
Sam smiled. "Idiots."
"I know right," Gabe said. "I mean, what if we never found you?"
"Did you really find us? It was more like you literally ran into me."
"Heh sorry about that," Gabe said with a sheepish smile.
Sam returned the smile. "So...what are we now?"
"Well we've already made out in a hallway," Gabe said.
"Never gonna live that down, are we?" Sam said, smiling while shaking his head.
"Nope," Gabe said, smirking. "So let's go back a step. Wanna go out sometime?"
"Definitely," Sam said. "Hey...why did Cas tell me not to tell you it was me?"
Gabe's expression immediately fell. "He's knows me too well. I've...done some bad things. Cassie knows I'd think you deserve better than me. Guess he figured it would work better if I fell for you first. He's not exactly wrong there."
"Well," Sam said. "I can't exactly say anything about what you've done because I haven't been here. But what I deserve is my choice, not yours. So don't you dare try and leave."
"I won't," Gabe said. "I'm never letting you go again."
"You're not holding me," Sam said with a small smirk. Gabe rolled his eyes but moved his arms around Sam's neck, pulling him close. Sam wrapped his arms around Gabe.
"The height difference," Gabe said, chuckling lightly.
"Well you could've gotten taller but you just had to stay short."
"Oh shut up."
"Make me."
Gabe pulled away from the hug slightly so he could kiss the smirk off of Sam's face. And then pulled away before it could get any further than that.
"We're still going in the wrong order," Gabe said, chuckling. "Date first, then you can tempt me to kiss you all you want."
"Hey you're the one who's started it every time," Sam said.
"And you're the one who kisses back. You're just as guilty as I am."
"That's not fair."
"Oh it so is."
Sam just glared before breaking out into a smile and pulling Gabe into another hug.
"I've missed you so much."
"I'm missed you too Sammy."

Friday
"Well this is interesting."
"No, it's just awkward."
"Yeah I feel like they're all just eye fucking."
"Oh for..." Michael glared at Lucifer.
They were in Cas and Gabe's dorm room. And by they, I mean all six of them. Mike, Luci, Cas, Dean, Gabe and Sam.
"Well it's been a while since all of us were in the same place," Cas said. He was sitting on his bed.
"Yeah, just a little while," Dean said, sitting on the floor while leaning on Cas's bed.
"Not five years or anything," Gabe said, sitting cross legged on his bed.
"And now I'm taller than you all," Sam said, also sitting on Gabe's bed. "Revenge at last."
"Not fair," Gabe muttered.
"Yeah I find that incredibly unfair," Luci said. "I used to be tallest. Now Dean's the same height and the shortest one is tallest. Why. Why author why?"
"It's not her fault," Michael said. "Blame the actors."
"Do they still do that?" Sam asked.
"All the time," Gabe said. "One of these days we need to figure out what the hell they're talking about."
"You never will," Michael said. "Never. I will not allow it." Luci was just smirking.
Cas rolled his eyes. "How are you two?" he asked, directed at Sam and Gabe.
"He slammed me against a wall," Gabe said casually. Sam immediately went red and just gave Gabe a what the hell look.
"Like, in a he was trying to hurt you way?" Dean asked.
"Nope," Gabe said. "Think completely opposite to that." Sam tried to bury his face in his hands as Dean just gave him a wide eyed look. "You said we'd never live it down Samantha."
"Oh my god why Gabe," Sam muttered through his hands. Gabe just chuckled.
"I'm not even going to question that," Cas said. "I'd say we all have pretty messed up relationships at this point."
"Except us," Luci said.
"Oh I dunno, ours is going to be pretty weird in the new book," Michael said.
"That's coz she's trying to add a storyline over four difference storylines."
"Why did we invite them?" Gabe asked. "I don't get what they're talking about half the time."
"No one does," Dean said. "So anyway."
"Yeah," Cas said. "We all have pretty messed up relationships...I mean, we're trying to restart ours. You guys?"
"I wouldn't say restart because we've done it in the wrong order," Gabe said. "So how about we just leave it at fix?"
"I can agree with that," Sam said.
"I think we could all use some fixing," Cas muttered, and Dean looked up from where he was sitting on the floor and put a comforting hand on Cas's knee.
"So could the fourth wall," Luci said. "But that won't happen. People gave up on fixing that."
"Lucifer Novak I swear..."
"You won't do anything, we have a wedding to plan now."
Michael just sighed.
"So five years," Dean said. "It took five years..."
"But we're back," Gabe said, smiling over at Sam. Sam smiled back, and for the first time all week things seemed to be looking up.
