"You were chosen, but we never knew this battle would be happening. We came on this journey to find SkyClan, not fight a battle for this tribe. If we knew this battle would happen, we would've gotten more warriors." -Stalkfire explaining to Featherpaw why she shouldn't fight.

Stalkfire is a broad-shouldered, tufty-furred, flame-colored tom with light green eyes, a chipped ear, a scar along his jaw, and scars along his shoulder.

HISTORY:

In Sharptalon's Mist

Stalkfire is just an apprentice when he makes his first appearance. His first appearance is when he is seen by Sharppaw, sleeping alone in his nest. In chapter 15 of the book, Stalkpaw is seen again by Sharppaw sleeping alone in his nest.

Stalkpaw is seen walking with Sharppaw and Stormpaw and asked why the rogues are so much trouble. The three apprentices spot rogues and Stalkpaw growls that they should chase them off the territory. Sharppaw wants to attack the rogues, but Stalkpaw points out they the rogues have more skill and that they haven't even completed their warrior training. When Sharppaw runs to the rogues, Stalkpaw calls him a mouse-brain and tells him to come back. When Frostheart insults Sharppaw, Stalkpaw hisses that he has more loyalty than her.

In the next chapter, Sharppaw points out that Stalkpaw won't be having his assessment until next half-moon.

Stalkfire is mentioned by Sharptalon how he had earned his warrior name four moons ago. Stormgaze is worried that Stalkfire won't get a mate and she mentions that she wants him to be happy. 

When Monarchwing dies, Stalkfire is seen grieving beside her body.

Stalkfire is mentioned by Stormgaze that he would be an amazing mentor for Wingkit, and Sharptalon points out that Stalkfire has never had an apprentice anyways.

After Stormgaze has her kits, Stalkfire rushes to her and asks how his sister is doing. Once he sees the kits, he comments that they're beautiful and that Monarchwing would've loved them. He then asks Sharptalon for the kits' names, and once he hears the name 'Smokykit', he asks if it's related to his father. When Squirrelstar calls a Clan meeting, Stalkfire leaves the den and is chosen to go to the gathering. Stalkfire is seen talking with Bramblehawk and sees that Sharptalon looks mad, and asks what's wrong. When Sharptalon refuses to tell him, Stalkfire asks again. When Sharptalon tells him that Needlepaw has feelings for him, Stalkfire suggests that she meant it in a different way. Stalkfire tells him that he still misses Monarchwing, and the two toms continue to walk to the gathering.

In the Setting Sun arc

Falling Feather

Stalkfire is appointed mentor to Featherpaw. Featherpaw asked her mentor if she can explore the territory, but Stalkfire tells her that she'll be taking care of the elders, then heads off on a patrol. 

Stalkfire is seen talking with Ivypool. He spots Featherpaw and tells her that he was thinking about letting her join a patrol. Needlehawk insults Featherpaw when she gets excited about joining a patrol, causing Stalkfire to step in and defend his apprentice. Stalkfire spots a thrush in a tree and wants Featherpaw to catch it, and then tells her that her mother would be proud if she caught it. When Featherpaw catches the bird, Stalkfire congratulates her. A tree branch almost falls on her, and Stalkfire is terrified, asking her if she is ok. Mistfang appears and asks what happened, to which Stalkfire tells him that Featherpaw was almost crushed by a tree branch.

Stalkfire tells Featherpaw that she has to travel somewhere. He asks Peachfur if she's sure that Featherpaw has to go. Stalkfire asks Peachfur if she's told Squirrelstar. Once Squirrelstar calls a Clan meeting, Stalkfire follows Peachfur to the high-ledge. Stalkfire is then chosen for the mission to find SkyClan.

Featherpaw sees a looming shadow in the distance and asks if it's the mountain, to which Stalkfire says that it is. Once at the mountain-trail, Stalkfire offers to catch them all something to eat. Peachfur explains what the rest of the mountain-trail is like, and Stalkfire asks her how she knows.

Stalkfire spots a hawk in the sky and tells Featherpaw to watch out. Stalkfire leaves Featherpaw's side once the hawk is gone. When Featherpaw wonders what the white stuff in the air is, Stalkfire tells her that it is snow, and then apologized that Stormgaze had yelled at her. He then explains to his apprentice that Stormgaze lost her mate and father. Stalkfire then tells her that he and her kits aren't enough for Stormgaze, and that her mate meant everything to her. The snow gets harder and Stalkfire asks where Featherpaw is. When the hawk rushes down to Featherpaw, Stalkfire gasps and rushes towards her.

A tribe cat, Ant, was hoping the Clan cats could help, and Stalkfire asks what is wrong. When Featherpaw says that she will help fight, Stalkfire quickly joins in to help. 

Stalkfire is being pinned down by a rogue and then is helped by Featherpaw. Stalkfire knocks the rogue away from Featherpaw, and then tells her that he doesn't want her to get killed. Stalkfire is shocked when Featherpaw tells him that she killed a rogue. He tells her not to worry about it at the moment and that the only rogues they need to kill are the leaders. Stalkfire then tells her that she shouldn't fight, and says that they had no idea this battle would happen, and that if they did know, they would have brought more warriors. Featherpaw still insists that she can fight, so Stalkfire eventually gives in.
