I awoke in my bed back home. I got up and noticed my arm was back as I was stretching.

Y/n: Was it just a dream? It felt so real.

I leave my room and go to the living room.

Y/n: Mom.

No response. As I look where she normally sleeps. The couch.

Y/n: Still don't know why she likes the couch more than her own bed. Mom!

The lights are all on, so someone is here.

Y/n: Sis! Monkeybutts! Are you here?!

I stop yelling for them and look out the window after moving the blinds. The parking lot for the apartments was empty, and what concerned me the most was the empty white sky.

Y/n: Am I dead?

???: No, but come outside, and I will explain.

Y/n: Okay? A loud booming voice that I heard all around me.

I decided against my better judgment to go outside. I leave the oddly empty apartment. Once outside, a giant fiery bird landed in front of me.

???: Hello.

I looked around and only saw the bird, which the more I looked at, the more realistically thinking it to be a Phoenix.

Phoenix: Yes, I'm the one speaking to you.

Y/n: Wha? How? I'm so confused on why I'm talking to a Phoenix suddenly.

Phoenix: Simple I reside inside your soul, and while you were gaining my powers slowly, you were in imminent danger, and out of self-preservation, I forced a larger power out.

Y/n: So I'm not dead. Good good, but why do you reside inside my soul?

Phoenix: I, along with many other mythological beings, were hibernating, waiting for humanity to reaquire magic. Most beings couldn't survive because we need a supply of magic to last as long as the remaining ones did. You have magic, so I chose you so I could survive, but you had a near unlimited supply, so I lucked out. I was, however, locked inside you due to your aura.

Y/n: So when my aura was unlocked, you were locked inside.

Phoenix: Yes, and to survive being locked away, I chose to be your semblance. I merged with your soul. Now, with explanations out of the way, you need a type of... training.

Y/n: Training what kind?

Phoenix: For the moment, we Phoenix call it reignition. Just focus on wanting to live.

Y/n: Wait, what?

I soon burst into flames.

Long timeskip with a montage of Y/n being set on fire multiple times and learning different ways to utilize the flames.

After what felt like a month of rigorous training, the Phoenix practically forced me to do, with breaks at least. The Phoenix wanted to see me again.

Phoenix: You've done well. You achieved a... I guess a type of awakening. When you need it most, it will activate, afterwards, you can use it when you need it. Just remember to wear fire resistant clothing. See you next time you get in a coma.

Y/n: I still have questions.

Phoenix: Next time.

Everything soon went black before it got bright again. I looked around and saw medical equipment around me. I saw my prosthetics next to my weapons on a desk. I soon realized I was in the guest room back at Ruby's and Yang's home. I slowly got up and felt where I was stabbed, feeling the scar along my chest.

Y/n: I should have died. I have more knowledge that I don't know what to do with. I'm somewhat immortal. Yay, this day is a Rollercoaster of emotions of whether I should be happy I'm alive or scared that I could've died. My God my head is everywhere all at fucking once.

I sat there my head in the clouds and head resting in my hand. I was too focused on this new info to notice someone coming in. I was soon hugged, bringing me out of my thoughts as I looked at who, seeing it being Ruby.

Ruby: (Crying) I-I was so worried y-you'd never wake up.

Y/n: I'm awake now.

I start hugging her back, trying to comfort her.

Ruby: When I saw the bandages around where your heart was, I thought you'd die.

Y/n: I thought I was dead, too. I'm glad I'm still here with you.

Ruby: Yeah, I'm glad you're awake now.

She brought her crying face out of my shoulder and surprised me with a kiss, which I gladly returned.

Y/n: So uh, how long have I been uh in whatever I was in?

Ruby: It's been, uh... a month.

I wipe her tears away. She stopped hugging me and sat on the bed next to me.

Ruby: You worried us.

Y/n: Worried how?

Ruby: Your semblance flared up multiple times. There's a trashcan full of burnt bandages.

Y/n: Oh, that's... odd.

It grew quiet between us after my response.

Ruby: Did... did you have any plans to save them?

Y/n: I... I kept myself up thinking of ways and plans that didn't go off my say-so and future knowledge. Besides, who'd believe future crime and if they were arrested, the people would want actual proof, especially if they didn't have a record.

Ruby: So nothing you thought of would work.

Y/n: The only plan that avoids all of what happened was if they were secluded one by one and killed, but that plan was a no-go. It was the one I could think that might work. I just couldn't stomach cold-blooded murder as a plan.

There was an awkward silence for a moment.

Y/n: Maybe we should get off this topic.

Ruby: Y-yeah.

Y/n: Is there any food I haven't eaten in a month?

I give her headpats as she gives me an answer while blushing from them.

Ruby: Yeah, there are some leftovers.

Y/n: Hey, before you get the food, could you possibly get me my arm and leg, please?

Ruby: Sure.

Timeskip montage of Y/n and Ruby spending time together and Y/n training  till winter comes

I make my way to the front door coming up behind Ruby.

Ruby: Hey, Jaune. Haven's a long way to go.

Jaune: I know. It's the only way we have.

Ruby: Are you sure you want to come along?

Ren: The journey will be perilous, and whether we'll find answers at the end is entirely uncertain.

Nora: But we wouldn't be here if we weren't up for it.

Ruby: Then let's get started.

Y/n: Don't forget me now.

Jaune: It's good to see you're alive.

Nora: You gave us all a scare.

Ruby: Are you sure you are good enough to travel?

Y/n: Yep.

We all start leaving.

Y/n: Besides, I have a score to settle.

Ruby: And the other is a new bipolar friend he made constantly wanting to game with him.
