Chapter 6: Pt 1

Lilac's P.O.V.

A few days have passed since Violet's execution.....no one had done anything since then.

There weren't any more murders. But none of us even bothered to work on getting out of here. I mostly spent my days cooped up in my room, laying on my bed in silence. Kanato always stayed by my side, watching over me. He didn't want me to do anything reckless, so he didn't keep his eyes off of me.

I've only seen Magane and Crona when we ate our meals in the cafeteria. None of us would ever say a word. We'd just look down at our plates and eat in silence. As for Kokichi, I haven't seen him at all after Violet's execution. I'm not sure if he was hiding somewhere or what. I just hope he's okay.

It was night time at the moment, and I laid on my bed quietly. Kanato looked up at me from the floor. He didn't want to be invasive of my space, so every night he slept on the floor with a pillow and a blanket. "....let's get some sleep, okay?" Kanato said. I nodded. He looked to his teddy, and after a moment he held it out to me.

"Would you like to sleep with Teddy tonight?" he asked. He's never offered that to me before. He hardly even lets me touch Teddy. So this was surprising to me. I smiled at him and nodded, gently taking Teddy in my arms and hugging him tightly. He was really soft, and so squishy. I smiled as I laid down and sighed, closing my eyes as I fell asleep.

A few hours passed....before I felt a bright light start to shine on my eyelids. I winced in pain before they shot wide open with realization. Could it be....?

I looked up to the ceiling. I was right. It was that strange creature again. The glowing woman I dreamt about before. Has she come to me with another warning?

"Lilac, please, help me...." she murmured. I sat up straight, my eyes glued to the bright light that emitted from her body. "Be careful....beware the the child with black inside....beware the malicious bear. Please, you must hurry. I have very little power. If you and your friends do not find me....there will be no hope...none of you will have a happy ending...please, help me..." she said. She slowly held her hand out, reaching out to me.

Without hesitation, I reached out to her. "....I'll save you..." I had no idea who this person was. But something told me that she was in pain. That she needed my help. I felt this overwhelming feeling to rescue her from the pain she suffered. Our fingers were just about to touch. But suddenly her body began to grow brighter, enough to where I was blinded.

Then I sat upright, gasping and panting for air. I felt incredibly warm, so much that the blanket I was in was unbearable. I kicked it off of me and glanced to Kanato. He was still sound asleep, seemingly undisturbed. I placed a hand on my chin.

Beware the malicious bear. I'm sure she means Monokuma. But....the child with black inside? She even emphasized on that sentence. She must be much more concerned about that child. Or perhaps that means that child is more dangerous. But what does it have to do with any of us? I looked to a clock nearby. It was 7:30 am. That explains why I haven't heard Monokuma's morning announcement. It's still rather early.

In any case, I'm not tired anymore. A shower sounds really nice though. I climbed out of bed, carefully stepping over Kanato, and went into the bathroom. I didn't hesitate to relax in the warm water. It was rather soothing, causing me to sigh in pleasure. As I felt the water run down my back....I started to recall so much.

We haven't been in this so called 'school' for so long, but a lot has happened. Many bad things....many lives taken....many hearts broken. But, strangely enough....not all of it has seemed bad. There were the few good moments. Like playing video games in the game room, singing in the karaoke room, tossing Kanato's teddy back and forth....and all the friends we made.

I've never been able to make friends. I've only ever had Violet. But, we were both able to make many great friends.....its too bad we keep losing them. I clenched my fists. Enough is enough. I won't stand for this anymore. I won't allow anymore friends to be lost.

Many of our friends had hope that we'd escape from here; Nagito, Rin, Ulric, all of them. They firmly believed we can escape. And we still can. Finding that glowing girl....she was the key to our hope. And we were the key to her hope as well.

We can change things. We can have a happy ending.

We can hold onto hope.

I nodded firmly and smiled, hopping out of the shower and getting dressed. Soon I heard the 'ding dong' sound of Monokuma's morning announcement. "Good morning, ladies and germs! Although, I guess I should really say bad morning, shouldn't I? You guys have been more depressing than a bunch of brown bananas. Not that I'm complaining. I love seeing the sad looks on your pathetic faces! Keep it up!" Monokuma stated over the speakers.

I heard a knock on the bathroom door. "Lilac? Are you in there? What are you doing?" Kanato asked. He sounded concerned. I went to the door and swung it wide open. Then I leaped into his arms and hugged him tightly. He let out a surprised sound, and looked down at me. "L-Lilac? Are you alright?" he asked.

I gave him another squeeze before looking up at him, eyes lighting up with hope. He looked taken aback. "Lilac?" he murmured. I grabbed Teddy from the bed, then I grabbed Kanato's hand. He opened his mouth to speak, but I bolted out of the room, dragging him down the hallway with me.

Kanato struggled to keep up, letting out panicked yelps as he stumbled over his own feet multiple times. "L-Lilac! Slow down! What's the meaning of this?!" he demanded. I didn't slow down once. As we were running, I could see Magane and Crona about to enter the cafeteria. But once they saw us, they looked at us surprised.

"Lilac? Kanato?" Magane said.

"She won't slow down!" Kanato shouted. However, I suddenly skidded to a stop right in front of them, making Kanato lurch forward and fall onto the ground, face first. I set Teddy beside Kanato and faced the other two. I wrapped them both in a huge hug, each caught in one arm. They both yelped as I hugged them.

"L-Lilac? What's wrong?" Crona asked. I pulled back and smiled wide. Magane blinked in surprise. "What's with the smile?" she asked. Kanato scrambled onto his feet, glaring at me with a big red mark on his forehead. "Yes, I demand an explanation! You're starting to make me quite peeved!" he snapped. I looked past Crona and Magane, seeing nothing.

I took a peek inside the cafeteria, but didn't see anything either. "Now what are you looking for?" Kanato demanded. Crona narrowed his eyes before they widened with realization.

"If you're looking for Kokichi, I don't know where he is. I haven't seen him since....then..." he murmured. Magane said, crossing her arms across her chest. "I wonder where he did go though...." she murmured. Kanato snickered.

"Should he really be of any concern to us....he betrayed us. He was the traitor...." I karate chopped the top of Kanato's head. He yelped, glaring at me again. "What was that...for..." he slowly shut up as I glared back at him, hands on my hips and cheeks puffed up.

"What has gotten into you today?" Kanato asked.

"Hope!" I stated, making everyone look at me surprised. I looked around at everyone'

"Find Kokichi!"

And so with that said, we all searched for Kokichi. I made sure none of us split up. Nothing good ever came from splitting up before, so I wanted to keep us all in one group. We searched every floor, high and low. Surprisingly, Kokichi was nowhere to be found. He wasn't even in his room. About two hours had passed, we were in the gym on the first floor before Ragnarok popped out from behind Crona and wailed.

"That's it! I'm getting bored! And hungry! Can we please just give up?! Or at least take a break? We didn't even get a chance to eat breakfast today!" he stated.

"Ragnarok is right. I don't know where Kokichi can be, Lilac. He can't be out of the building, because there's no way out." Crona stated. "Why are we even bothering trying to find him?" Kanato said harshly. He looked over to me. "I'm sorry Lilac, but he has been a bastard this whole time we've been here! He's mocked us, teased us, pulled the most reckless and stupid shit, and more! He's never been a part of this so called 'team', which seems to be falling apart more and more with every day! If he wants to hide away in this academy and rot, by all means, let's respect his wishes!" Kanato stated.

"....that's exactly what he expects us to do," Kanato looked to Magane surprised, but she continued, "Don't you get it? That was his plan all along. He wanted us to hated him, to be the villain. It's one less person to worry. With the extra separation, he can figure out how to truly get us out....that was his whole plan with Ulric, right?" Kanato's eyes widened, then he looked away.

"Maybe, but...."

"Kokichi isn't as different from us as we think. He's just as scared and sad as the rest of us. The biggest difference is that he's dealing with those feelings all by himself. Meanwhile at least we all try to confront with our feelings with each other." Magane said.

"But, how do we know his feelings are genuine, and not another lie? Another act. He could be leading us into another terrible trap of some kind." Crona said. Kanato hugged his teddy tight and sighed, shame spreading across his face.

"....Violet wanted us to all escape together. And that included him. Magane is right....he's suffering in his own way. We can't leave him behind, or we wouldn't be any better than him. Or any better than Monokuma..." Kanato looked over at me. "That's what you've believed this whole time, haven't you? We're in this together, no matter how mean we are to each other. Otherwise....why would you care about me so much." he said.

I smiled at him. Then I took a few steps towards him and kissed him on the cheek. His eyes widened, and his face immediately flushed into a bright shade of pink. Magane and Crona gasped. When I stepped away, I smiled.

"Lilac...." he murmured.

"Uh, I think I know one more place we haven't checked yet. The tool warehouse. It's a long shot, but we could check out what's there." Magane said. I nodded and began to head to the gym exit. As I did, I could hear Magane chuckle beside me and chant, "Kanato and Lilac, sitting in a tree~ K-I-S-S-I-N-"

"Urusai!" Kanato snapped. Yet he still wrapped an arm around my shoulders. Crona quietly follow behind us, and sighed. "I have a bad feeling about this...."

Within a few minutes, we arrived to the warehouse. I don't recall actually ever being in here yet.  I just know that this was the same place Johannes got the tools he needed to cover up his crime with Nagito. Magane stepped up and pushed it open, and we went inside. My nose was immediately hit with a dusty aroma, and it caused me to sneeze, making Ragnarok chuckle.

"Hehehe, you kinda sneeze like a kitten." he said.

"What's this? Ragnarok actually giving a compliment? How rare~" Magane said teasingly. Ragnarok glared at her. "Shut up girly!" he snapped. Crona coughed a little. "It's pretty dusty in here..." he murmured. "Indeed. Even for a sadistic robotic bear, I thought Monokuma would at least clean up his own home." Kanato muttered, looking at the dusty shelves in disgust.

The warehouse was fairly large. There were four large, tall shelves lined up in the room, each filled with different boxes, containers, and tools. "Did anyone check the time? We can't be in here till 6:00 am- 12:00 pm." Magane said. "If we were breaking the rules, Monokuma probably would've come out already." Kanato said.

"I'm still gonna check the time...." Magane pulled out her Monopad and checked the time. Her eyes widened. "What the...guys, it's 10:05 am." she said.

"What?! B-But then, aren't we breaking the rules?!" Crona said. "That can't be....why hasn't Monokuma shown himself then?" Kanato said. "I say we search this place as fast as we can. Then we get out of here before something bad happens." Magane stated.

"Kokichi! Are you in here?!" Kanato called out. His voice echoed against the stone cold walls. There was no response. Magane took a turn. "Kokichi! Oi! If you're here, say something!" Magane shouted, louder than Kanato. Again, no response. Crona rubbed his arm uncomfortably. "I-I really don't like this guys....we need to get out of here...." he murmured.

"Relax, we aren't in any danger." Magane said. "Yeah I wonder how many times people in horror movies think that just before they're killed off....especially the loud, annoying girls." Ragnarok stated. Magane growled at him.

"Say that again, you little black snot!" she snapped. "Who are you calling a snot?!" Ragnarok snapped. I sighed, and looked away from them. My eyes began to drift from to the top shelves, looking around....

Until in the dim light....I saw him.

I gasped, and pointed up. Everyone noticed I was pointing, and looked to that direction. They're eyes widened as they each saw Kokichi. He was sitting very high up on a top shelf, hidden between a couple boxes. He was hugging his knees, with his face hidden from view. I looked to the ground. I spotted Electro-bombs on the floor. I went over to them and knelt down. Then I held it up to the others.

"Electro-bombs. Ah, so that's why nothing is on high alert. The cameras are disabled." Kanato said. "Kokichi! What are you doing up there! That's kinda dangerous, isn't it?" Magane asked. Kokichi was easily 20 ft above the ground, maybe even a bit more. If he fell, he could die from the fall. Kanato took a step forward.

"Hold on, we'll get a ladder and help you get down-" but Kokichi interrupted us.

We all paused, and looked at each other, than back at him.

"No point? What are you talking about?" Kanato asked. "Just go away....leave me here." Kokichi stated. Magane shook her head. "Not gonna happen. We haven't seen you in forever! We never see you come to eat with us! Or in the hallways! Or anywhere! Don't tell me you've been in here the whole time!" Magane said.

"No....for awhile, I was in my room. Then I decided it was too comfy for me...." Kokichi replied.

"Kokichi..." Kanato said. "The cameras should turn back on soon. You guys should leave." Kokichi said. "What? Then what about you?" Crona asked.

"I'm staying here...." Kokichi stated. My eyes widened. What in the world was he doing? Was he.... "You damn fool....is this your twisted version of suicide?! What the hell do you think killing yourself will accomplish?! Please, just get down from there!" Kanato snapped. "Just leave, Kanato. Right now." Kokichi said, more sternly this time.

Magane spoke up. "No, we're not leaving! Not until you get down from there! We won't let you die! This isn't what the others would've wanted! This isn't what Violet wanted-"

We all froze. That's when he finally stood up, brushing dust off his white clothes and looked down at us.

"There's no point in any of us being alive anymore! We can't escape from this hell hole! So what are we supposed to do?! Sit on our asses and pray for a miracle that'll never happen?! Live the rest of our lives in this place?! Or maybe just kill each other off until the lone survivor finally gets out of here?! Guess what, I'm not gonna do any of the above! You know why? There's no point! Even if I somehow went back home, my home was already a living hell! I have nothing to go back to! I'm better off just dying here and now! Get the punishment that I deserve!" Kokichi shouted. His voice sounded loud and angry....but I could hear the fear and sadness behind his words. I think the others could too.

"Kokichi...." I murmured.

"If you dumb asses are still believing there's even a sliver of a chance of escaping, then let me make this as clear as day for you..."
