I was awoken to a loud dinging sound, making me yelp and jolt upright, eyes wide. 

"Morning ladies and germs," I looked to the corner of my room, where a monitor hung, seeing Monokuma on the screen, holding a glass of champagne, "It just occurred to me that I am neglecting my duties to make morning announcements. So, starting today, you'll be greeted by this cute face every morning! So get your booties out of bed and get to killing!" with that the monitor shut off. I blinked, tilting my head to the side.

"Well that's great...." I murmured sarcastically. I looked to the side of my bed, but I perked up to see that Lilac wasn't laying there. I scrambled out of bed, got ready for the day in the bathroom (which every dorm room had) and rushed out to the dining hall. I can't imagine her being anywhere else.

As I was running there, I could see Rin and Magane walking this way. They both looked at me surprised.

"Oh, morning Violet." Rin replied. "Ohiyo! (Good morning!)" Magane called. I skidded to a stop in front of them. "Do either of you know where Lilac went?" I asked.

"Huh? Oh yeah, she's just eating in the dining hall." Rin replied. "Is she alone?" I asked. "Hmm, I think she's alone. I mean, most of the others have already finished eating, and she woke up kinda late. So yeah, she might be alone." Magane replied. My eyes widened.

"What?! Rin! I told you to never let her out of your sight, right?!" I snapped. Rin blinked, confused. He opened his mouth to respond, but I rushed over towards the dining hall. The other two followed me, having a bit of trouble keeping up. When I got to the dining hall door I skidded to a stop. Rin and Magane skidded to a stop as well.

"Geez, not sure what you're so worried about. You act like she'll die if you don't see her." Magane said, her tone laced with slight irritation.

"You don't know my sister. She can't be left alone." I stated sternly. Rin sighed, placing a hand behind his neck. "I do think you're overreacting. I'm sure she's just fine. Here, I'll prove it," Rin went over to the door and opened it wide, letting us walk in, and indeed there was Lilac sitting at the table alone about to drink something, "See? She's just about to have a nice drink-" she was about to bring a bottle of poison to her lips. My eyes widened.

"Lilac no!" Lilac paused, looking over at us with innocent eyes. I marched over to her and snatched the poison out of her hands while Rin and Magane watched in shock. 

"For crying out loud Lilac, how many times have I told you not to do these things?! I can't my eyes off you for one second, and you try to hurt yourself! Don't you dare try to do this again?! Got it?!" I stated sternly. Lilac pouted cutely, crossing her arms. I sighed.

"I'm gonna put this back in the kitchen real quick. You two," I said, looking back at Rin and Magane, who were still utterly shocked, "Watch her."

With that said I walked to the kitchen, looking around for a place to put it. I remember there was a cabinet specifically for cleaning chemicals and such. After a few seconds of searching, I managed to find it and hide the bottle of poison in the back, then returned to the dining hall. Immediately Rin bombarded me with questions.

"What the hell was that?! What just happened?! Why the hell would Lilac try to kill herself?!" he said, spitting out his questions way too fast. Magane looked at Lilac curiously. 

"Huh, I never would've imagined such an innocent, sweet girl would be thinking of suicide. How strange, how strange...." she murmured. Lilac only smiled, as if nothing happened. I sighed, grabbing Lilac's arm and pulling her out of her seat.

"Yeah, and she knows that. That's why she still tries." I said coldly, still feeling a bit salty about what just happened. At this point, I'm used to Lilac's suicide attempts. She's been trying to for years now. And she never plans it. She just does it at random, whenever she suddenly feels like it. One moment she could be innocently playing a game, the next she could hide and try to end herself. This is why Lilac can never be alone. 

I began to drag Lilac away from the other two and towards the kitchen, deciding she shouldn't be near them, but Rin spoke up. "Violet wait." I paused, but didn't bother to look at him.

"I-"m sorry, kay. I didn't think it was....that serious, when you said she couldn't be alone. It won't happen again, promise." he said. I could tell his words were genuine. Rin didn't seem like the person to lie. I slowly turned to face him, seeing him look away, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly while his tail swung from side to side.

"You know, while you were asleep, some of us were planning on playing a game of basketball in the gym. If you and Lilac wanna join, you can." he said. Lilac immediately beamed, and gave me a begging expression. I looked to my sister, and then at Rin. Then I sighed, feeling my expression soften.

"Alright then. Just let us eat breakfast real quick." I replied. Magane giggled and pumped her fist into the air.

"Yes! This'll be fun! I'm fired up! I'm fired up!" she cheered.

After Lilac and I ate a small breakfast, we followed Magane and Rin towards the gym. Waiting by the entrance of the gym was Rena, Crona, Junko, Ulric, Kokichi and Amaimon. 

"Hmm? Is this everyone that's playing?" I asked.

"Yeah well, Zack and Johannes complained about wanting to sleep in, and we didn't dare as Mello and Kanato." Ulric stated.

"What about Nagito? Or Near?" I said. A part of me felt disappointed that I haven't seen Nagito yet. I wanted to see him again. "Oh, both of them never showed for breakfast. Guess their still tired too." Junko replied. I looked at her surprised.

"Really? They both aren't up? Weird." I said. 

"I'm mostly surprised about Near. You wouldn't think a professional detective like him would be late to anything. Or maybe I'm just overlooking things." Kokichi replied. "Can we please get to playing. I'm very bored." Amaimon stated. "There are ten of us here, so I guess its five against five." Ulric said.

"Actually, I was hoping if I could just watch from the sidelines. I don't know how to play very well..." I admitted with a small smile.

"That doesn't matter," Magane stated, wrapping an arm around my shoulders, "it's easy, it's easy. You'll get the hang of it in no time." She then pulled away from me and swung open both gym doors wide. Almost immediately, Ulric grimaced, his muzzled curling up, and placed a hand on his nose.

"Gah! Good God, what the hell smells in here?!" he snapped. I looked at him puzzled, and sniffed the air myself, but I only got a very mild scent of something unpleasant, but nothing I would call awful.

"Huh? What's got your tail tied in a knot? I don't smell anything." Junko stated. Crona looked around the gym, taking a small sniff. 

"Neither do I." he replied.

"Oh trust me, something smells horrid in here! Fuck and its strong...." Ulric growled, turning his face away from the room. Kokichi chuckled. "Nee-heehee, guess it sucks to have that advanced smelling, doesn't it?" he said. "Where is it coming from? Maybe I can find the source." I said. Ulric growled slightly, pointing to the corner of the room.

"Somewhere in the back, that's for sure. If it was near the entrance I'd probably puke." he stated. I looked to where he was pointing, seeing that the storage closet entrance was there.

"Might be in the closet. I'll take a look." I replied. "Okay, and grab a basketball while you're at it! We'll need one!" Rin said. I nodded and walked towards the closet. As I walked closer and closer, the faint odor I smelled earlier did indeed begin to get stronger, and it made me grimace.

"Yeesh, that actually does smell bad." I thought as I walked to the closet. Whatever that smell was, it was definitely inside this room. The door was locked from the outside, so I simply swung the door wide open.

Little did I know.....of the horror and despair that await me from inside that closet......

At first.....all that came up was a blank. 

I didn't notice the blood. I didn't smell the terrible odor. I didn't take full notice of the dead look on the corpse's eyes. First thing I thought, was that someone was laying on the floor. It was like....my mind was in denial of what I saw. And all I could do was stare, speechless.

"Oi, Violet-san! What did you find, what did you find?!" Magane called. Her voice snapped me out of my trance.....and the utter fear finally sank in. 

I was looking at a bloody corpse of Nagito Komaeda. The boy who had just filled me with hope as of last night, giving me that kind smile. And....and now.....that same boy was dead. He's.....he's dead.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!" 

I didn't hold back, letting my scream pierce the air and echo in the large gym. My legs gave in, and immediately I scrambled away from the door until my back hit the edge of the stage. There were voices in the distance, but they were all faded, so I couldn't make out what they said. I felt as if my vision was getting blurry, so I could barely make out Rin and Junko rush to the closet, only to jump back a few steps after letting out startled shouts.

I curled up on myself, grasping onto my head and panting hard, only focused on breathing. I couldn't believe it. Nagito is dead. Someone....someone killed him! Someone in this building killed him! And now he's gone! Who....who would even do this?!

"Hey! Violet!" a voice beside me said. I felt a hand on my shoulder, and snapped my head to look to my right, seeing Ulric had knelt beside me. To my surprise, he had on a serious expression, looking me in the eye.

"Calm down. You gotta breathe, kay?" he said calmly. I didn't even realize I was hyperventelating until I attempted to breathe, feeling a pain in my chest. I finally began to breathe slowly, but my heart continued to pound furiously against my chest. I glanced to my left, seeing that Lilac was looking at me concerned. Crona was beside her, giving me the same look.

"V-Violet? Are you okay?" he asked. I didn't answer for a moment, trying desperately to find something to say. Eventually, I managed to let out a weak response.

"Y....Y-Yeah...." 

I looked back at the closet. I barely see the silhouette of Nagito's body from inside, as well as Amaimon kneeling beside it. I had failed to notice just how much I was trembling till just not. I looked to Rin, who had a shadow cast over his eyes.

"Is....is he really....?" I knew in my heart it was pointless to ask. But still....

"Sorry. But he's definitely dead." Amaimon stated deadpanned, stepping out from inside the closet. Suddenly a binging sound rang out throughout the gym.

"Woohohohohohoooooo! Finally! A body has been discovered kiddies! Everyone hustle their asses to the gym!" Monokuma stated over the speaker.

Eventually, everyone had arrived at the gym and had seen the body....everyone except for Near, strangely. 

"Masaka (no way), someone actually had the balls to rip someone," Zack said, peeking inside the closet, only to turn his head away, "shit it smells awful in there now." Mello was pacing back and forth, his brows furrowed and teeth clenched.

"Dammit, where the hell is Near? Why hasn't he come yet?" he said. "I'm not sure. You'd think a detective would be the most eager to look at a body. To investigate and shit, right?" Junko said. Rena glanced at the closet, her eyes holding sadness and sorrow.

"Poor Nagito. I can't believe....that he's gone. I can't...." she murmured. 

"Well, better him then us." Kokichi replied. My eyes widened and I whirled around to face him. "What? What did you say?!" I said. Rin immediately glared at the boy.

"How could you say that?! That's just cold to Nagito!" he stated. Kokichi merely shrugged. "Hey, that's the truth isn't it?" he said. Magane nodded in agreement.

"True, true. Admit it, at least one of you guys is happy that it was Nagito who bit the dust and not you." she stated. Silence hung in the air. Unfortunately, I guess everyone agreed. "However, that doesn't mean our problems are over," Kokichi said, putting on a smirk, "if Nagito is dead, you know what that means.....we have a murderer among us~"

I grimaced, rubbing my arm. He was right. One of us here has killed Nagito.

"That's right, Kokichi!" we all snapped our heads to the stage, seeing Monokuma pop onto the stage and sit on the podium.

"And you know what that also means; class trial time! I believe I explained this before, but just in case. You guys get a bit of time to investigate the crime scene, and then we all have a trial to see who done it. If you guys guess the culprit correctly, then you all get to live still! Guess incorrectly, aaaand? Come on, who wants to guess?" Monokuma said. Crona's eyes widened and he swallowed nervously.

"W-We all get e-executed...." he murmured. Kanato narrowed his eyes.

"And the culprit gets to leave this place." he said.  

"Bingo! Props to you two for remembering! A+'s all around! Well, since you get the drill, I'm just gonna leave ya guys to it. See ya!" Monokuma said, then he hopped off the podium and disappeared. Mello snickered. "Damn that bear...." he muttered.

"Nyow, if we're gonna investigate, then someone should find Near. I imagine a detective would be useful in the event of a crime scene." Johannes said. As if on cue, the gym doors suddenly swung open....revealing Near. He was panting hard, as if he had just ran here. 

"Where's....the crime scene? I need to....investigate- ngh!" he suddenly placed a hand on his head, and fell to his knees. My eyes widened.

"Near!" Lilac was the first to run to him, kneeling beside him and placing a hand on his shoulder. The rest of us went over to him as well, surrounding him. "Where the hell have you been?! What's up with you?" Mello demanded. Near grimaced slightly, but looked up at us.

"What....what time is it?" he said.

"Around nine thirty or so." Magane replied. Near's eyes widened. "Nine thirty? In the morning?! Dammit, I've been out for a whole day?!" he said. My eyes widened. "A-A whole day? What do you mean?" I asked.

"As I said yesterday, after we saw our motive videos, I went to the warehouse to look at something. But, just as I had reached the door.....I was attacked." Near said.
