What Have I Done?
Fiona was excited when Stevie and Lindsey told her the news. She couldn't wait to become a big sister.
Stevie had reached her second trimester; she was 14 weeks. Lily was 20 weeks.
Stevie's bump had began to show now due to her height, her hand was glued to her belly it seemed.
Lindsey waited on her hand and foot; he kept her as relaxed and calm as he could. She loved him even more than ever.
They had finally told their family's about Stevie's pregnancy. Everyone was over joyed and couldn't wait to meet the new member of the family.
The only ones they hadn't told yet was Mick, John and Christine.
Well, as far as Stevie knew; Christine didn't know but John and Mick did.
Lindsey told them he couldn't tell Stevie about his drunken night of stupidity because she was pregnant and she was high risk of having a miscarriage. Even though Mick and John wanted Lindsey to come clean they all agreed that Stevie and the baby were priority.
On a Friday afternoon, Stevie was getting ready for Christine to come over. Mick and John would be joining them as well for dinner.
Stevie stopped suddenly, she felt a flutter in her belly. A smile spread across her face; she finally felt her baby. She ran her hand over her bump and happy tears rolled down her cheeks.
After a moment she continued to dress.
She made her way downstairs once she finished dressing. She wore a sweater to hide her bump until she was ready to reveal it to her bandmates.
The front door opened and in walked Fiona with Karen following behind.
"Hi mommy!" Fiona hugged Stevie. "Is aunt Christine here?"
"No yet sweetie but she'll be here soon." Stevie replied then gave her daughter a kiss on the top of her head.
Lindsey came up from the studio and hugged Stevie and Fiona.
He kissed Stevie on her lips then places his hand on her hidden bump. "How are you feeling Mrs. Buckingham?"
"I'm feeling wonderful. I finally stopped puking my guts out." Stevie chuckled. "And, I felt the baby moving around today!"
"Really?" Lindsey said excitedly.
"Can I feel mommy?!" Fiona asked excitedly.
"You won't be able to feel anything just yet from the outside but once the baby starts kicking you can." Stevie explained.
Fiona's face fell. "Awe okay."
Stevie hugged Fiona and said. "You'll get to feel the baby soon I promise."
Fiona smiled. "Okay. I'm gonna go change before auntie Chris gets here!"
Thirty minutes later, Christine, Mick and John arrived at Lindsey's and Stevie's home.
They all hugged and began to catch up.
"How's Lily doing? Did she find out what's she's having?" Christine asked.
"No she didn't. She wants it to be a surprise." Stevie replied.
"I bet you want to know now!" Christine said. "Are you both ready to become grandparents?"
"Well...yes, I'm so excited to be a grandma! Although things will be pretty hectic a month after Lily has the baby." Stevie said with a smile.
"What's going to happen a month after?" Christine asked confused.
Stevie stood up. "Lindsey and I have some news to tell you all." She took off her sweater and revealed her baby bump. "I'm pregnant!"
"Oh my gosh!" Christine exclaimed. "Oh Stevie congratulations love!" She stood up and hugged Stevie then Lindsey. "Congratulations to the both of you! How far along are you?"
"4 months. We didn't want to say anything before because...well, there was a risk of miscarriage. I mean there's always a risk no matter what but I'm 50, so my doctor kept a closer eye on me and still continues to do so."
Mick and John took their turns congratulating Stevie and Lindsey even though they already knew they acted surprised.
Stevie passed the recent ultrasound photo around and all were really happy for Lindsey and Stevie.
Although, Mick and John were concerned but pushed the thoughts away to the back of their minds.
The rest of the night they all relaxed and enjoyed each other's company.
Another month passed by and Stevie was now 5 months pregnant and Lily was 6.
Their bellies were growing immensely and now when they hugged their bellies got in the way.
Things were going smoothly for both women; they both had the same cravings, their hormones would be all over the place, but they were both doing well nonetheless.
Lily and Ryan went on a trip out of town to visit Ryan's family. So they would be away for a while.
On a Saturday afternoon, Stevie and Fiona were having a mother daughter day; they watched a movie, listened to music and painted each others nails.
Now that their nails were dried, Fiona was curled up to Stevie's side; she had her hand on Stevie's belly.
Stevie had her eyes closed, a smile on her face as she listened to her daughter sing to her sibling.
Fiona was singing Landslide, all of sudden she stopped. She stared at Stevie with wide eyes, Stevie was looking back as her smile grew.
"Oh my gosh mom! I felt the baby kick!" Fiona said excitedly. "Wow! That was amazing!"
"It's the most wonderful thing in the world." Stevie said.
"What do you think it's gonna be? A boy or a girl?" Fiona asked.
"I don't know, your dad and I decided not to find out until they are born. We just want a healthy baby, that's all that matters." Stevie said as she ran her fingers through her daughter's curls.
Fiona smiled then snuggled close to Stevie once again. She closed her eyes and said. "I love you mommy."
Stevie did the same and hugged her daughter close. "I love you too."
They dozed off until Karen knocked softly on the bedroom door.
Stevie told her to come in.
"Sorry to interrupt but, there's a young woman outside the gate wanting to speak to Lindsey. She's really persistent."
Stevie's eyebrows furrowed. "Well...let her in, I'll go get Lindsey."
Karen nodded then left the room.
Stevie made sure not to wake Fiona. She gently got up from the bed then made her way to the studio.
"Linds?" Stevie said as she opened the door.
"Yes angel?" Lindsey said as he stood up and gave her a kiss.
"Um, there's a woman who wants to speak to you. Karen is letting her in."
Lindsey had no clue to who the woman was or to why she needed to speak to him.
They left the studio hand in hand; they reached the living where a young blonde woman was sitting.
"Hi Lindsey, nice to see you again." The woman said.
"Um...hi." Lindsey replied. "Sorry, I've never seen you before."
Stevie tightened her hand in his and rested her other hand on her belly.
"It's Kristen, remember! We met at the bar a few months ago." Kristen said. "You were having drinks with your friends, then..." She stopped and looked at Stevie.
"Oh I'm sorry, ah, it's just, I needed to tell you something. But, never mind, I'll just go." Kristen grabbed her purse and was about to leave.
"Wait, what is it you need to tell my husband?" Stevie asked Kristen.
Kristen turned around and sighed. "I'm...I'm pregnant and your husband is the father."
Stevie gasped and let go of Lindsey's hand; she backed away shaking her head, her hands over her mouth, eyes wide filled with tears.
"That's not possible! I don't know who you are. I didn't have...sex with you." Lindsey said coming to the realization that this was the woman Mick and John said they saw him with.
"Yes, we did. In the bathroom stall." Kristen said her arms crossed. "I wasn't going to tell you after seeing your wife is expecting as well but..."
Stevie turned to walk out of the living room, tears rolling down her cheeks.
"Steph wait!" Lindsey exclaimed trying to hug her.
"No! Don't touch me!" Stevie yelled as she pushed his hands away.
She rushed upstairs and into her bedroom.
Stevie saw Fiona still napping; she calmed herself until she went into her closet. She shut the door and walked to back of it. She slumped down onto the floor and began to sob.
Her whole frame was shaking from how hard she was sobbing.
She didn't realize Fiona heard her from the closet.
Fiona opened the door and saw Stevie on the floor; she was curled up in a ball, her hands on her belly.
"Mommy?" Fiona asked tentatively. "What's wrong?"
Stevie just sobbed harder.
Fiona didn't know what to do, so she laid down on the floor with Stevie and hugged her.
"It's okay mom. Whatever it is. It's all going to be okay." Fiona said trying to soothe Stevie.
Stevie clung to her daughter and continued to sob. Oh Fiona, if only you knew. It's not going to be okay. Things will never be okay again.
After his conversation with Kristen, Lindsey went to look for Stevie.
He walked to the bedroom but didn't find her. He was about to walk out to look else where when he heard Fiona singing, her voice coming from the closet.
His heart broke at the sight he saw; Stevie asleep on the floor, Fiona hugging Stevie close to her and singing to her mother.
Lindsey fell to his knees and sobbed silently, his face in his hands. What have I done?
