The News
After Rumours, Stevie and Lindsey decided to give their relationship another try. Their love for each other was too strong to stay away from each other for long.
In the beginning it was rocky, it seemed as if they were going back to their usual ways but when Stevie found out she was pregnant with their daughter, they had became closer than ever.
Lindsey had become more gentle and much more loving towards Stevie. When their daughter was born, Lindsey had matured extremely.
Stevie as well, she stopped the cocaine and alcohol use; she cleaned up as soon as she found out she was pregnant.
Stevie and Lindsey got married in 1980; their daughter Lily was two at the time. Stevie was now Stephanie Lynn Nicks Buckingham; only using Nicks for her music career.
It wasn't easy but they managed to parent their daughter and still have their music careers.
Lily would go on tour with them or the studio, whether it was with Fleetwood Mac or Stevie's solo career.
Stevie and Lindsey made sure to keep Lily away from seeing all of what really went on backstage or after shows.
Lindsey would still have a night out with the boys; the only hard stuff he would touch was a few drinks of liquor. He was always faithful to Stevie; he would walk away from a situation he knew he wasn't supposed to be in.
Stevie would stay in the hotel room with Lily and Christine would often join them.
Lily loved her aunt Christine.
When Lily would go to bed, Stevie and Christine would open a bottle of wine and relax.
In 1986, Stevie and Lindsey welcomed their second daughter Fiona.
It was a bit harder having two kids while on tour but Stevie and Lindsey made it work.
As the years passed, they did argue and were at each other's throats while in the studio but they would work through it and their love remained stronger as ever.
*1998*
It was a week after Fleetwood Mac had finished filming The Dance.
Lindsey and Stevie were now relaxing in each in others arms after a session of love making.
They were home alone; their eldest daughter Lily was now 20 years old and was now married to a man who was four years older than her. They met in college, Lily was a freshman and he was graduating with a degree in advertising. His name is Ryan Banks. They lived a few minutes away from Stevie and Lindsey.
At first Lindsey and Stevie thought that Lily was way too young to get married but after a while they couldn't deny the love that Lily and Ryan had for each other.
Their youngest was now 12 years old; Fiona was in school at the moment.
Stevie and Lindsey stayed in bed for a while not speaking; it was a comfortable silence.
Stevie then looked at the clock; it was almost time for Fiona to come home.
Plus, Lily and Ryan were coming over for dinner; Lily had called Stevie to tell her they were coming over because they had some news to tell them but they wanted to wait for Fiona to get out of school so she could hear it too.
Stevie sighed and looked up at Lindsey. "As much as I would love to stay in this bed with you all day, we have to get up and get ready for Fiona to come home. And Lily and Ryan will be here not too long after that."
Lindsey sighed dramatically. "Fine...shall we shower separately or together?" He said with a mischievous grin.
Stevie giggled and they both rushed to the bathroom and into the shower where another love session ensued.
After getting dressed, Lindsey and Stevie made their way downstairs as the front door opened.
"Hi mom! Hi dad." Fiona said as she walked up to them and gave them a hug.
"Hey sweetie, how was school?" Stevie asked as she hugged her daughter.
"It was good. I passed my math test!" Fiona said excitedly.
"That's great, I'm so proud of you." Stevie said.
Stevie then turned her attention to her assistant. "Thank you for picking her up for us Karen."
"No problem!" Karen said with a smile.
Just then the doorbell rang.
Lindsey answered it; it was Lily and Ryan.
"Daddy!" Lily exclaimed as she stepped through the door and gave Lindsey hug.
"Lily, I've missed you!" Lindsey said as he led them inside.
Lindsey shook Ryan's hand and they walked to the living room.
Karen had left to the kitchen to help Stevie with dinner and Fiona went to change out of her school uniform.
Lily made her way to the kitchen and gave Stevie a hug. "Hi mommy! I've missed you."
"I've missed you too!" Stevie held on tight then looked at her daughter. "So, what's this news you have to tell us?!"
Lily laughed. "Mom! I want to wait till we are all in the same room."
"Karen can you please continue with dinner? I want to know now." Stevie said as she grabbed Lily's hand and led the way out of the kitchen.
They were out of the room before Karen could answer. Karen chuckled and said to herself. "Sure thing Stevie."
Once in the living room, all the Buckingham's were sitting and waiting for Lily to speak.
Lily stood up and took a deep breath. "Well, Ryan and I have some exciting news!" She said as Ryan stood up and took her hand in his.
"Mom, dad, Fiona...I'm...I'm pregnant! I'm 8 weeks!"
Stevie jumped up from her seat and had a huge smile on her face. "Oh my goodness! My baby girl is gonna have a baby! Awe!"
Stevie went up to Lily and embraced her in a hug. She pulled back and had tears in her eyes. "Congratulations you two!"
"Congratulations sis!" Fiona said giving Lily and Ryan a hug. "Oh my gosh! I'm gonna be aunt!"
During this interaction, Lindsey stared daggers at Ryan.
Here was his little girl, who it seemed just like yesterday was playing with Barbie dolls and here came Ryan and...
"Lindsey?" Stevie said as she was trying to ask him a question.
"Huh?" Lindsey said snapping out of his thoughts.
"Lindsey, I asked if your excited about the news Lily just told us?" Stevie asked again.
"Oh...yeah of course." He said trying to save himself. He then smiled and hugged his daughter and son in law. "Congratulations sweet pea."
"Thank you dad!" Lily said. "Now, when's dinner ready? I'm starving! I am eating for two after all." She chuckled.
The rest of the night was spent talking about Lily and Ryan wanting to wait a bit before they tell the rest of the family, then they talked about the baby shower which Stevie was excited to start planning.
"Whoa! Mom, slow down. We have plenty of time to plan the baby shower." Lily laughed her mother's eagerness.
"I'm sorry, I'm just so excited. I'm going to spoil my grand-baby, I want to start now."
Lindsey however remained quiet; he was really struggling to come to terms that his daughter was having a baby; that he and Stevie would become grandparents.
Was he ready for this next step in life?
Lindsey pushed the thoughts out of his mind and faked a smile.
This story was inspired by the movie the Father of the Bride part 2.
If any of you have seen it know where I'm going with it but of course there will be some twists and turns along the way.
I hope you enjoyed the first chapter!
